explination:

playing frequencies that are quite similar into each ear creates a binuaral beat in your head.

for example. one ear has a frequency of 404hz and the other ear has one of 400hz. the two frequencies are played simultaneously in each ear which creates a binural beat in your brain of a frequency of 4hz. (404hz-400hz=4hz)
