  • in any case the purpose of house music is to make ppl dance, so if it works.. and it kills on the danceflo.. then who the fuck cares?

  • blablablablablablablablablablablablabla..

  • This is not Sampling. They took this entire song and just added drums. So in fact, this is an example of layering.

  • scroll down for people arguing

  • Armand Van Helden did a 'Black Box'

in a sympathetic to the original ie obviously 'stolen idea'

    re-introducing it

    BOTH WORK

    4 different reasons

IT is meant 2 be about 'dancing' after all

    Not 'STOOPID' music 'Snobbery'

  • positivity yo. get some. this is great.

  • This is fuckin hot

  • All you haters should look up Kirby Ferguson's "Everything is a Remix"

  • This is a great song

armand has a great ear for samples and knows how to flip them

Of course hes from new york and they got that whole hiphop vibe going down there and new york hiphop is all about crate digging and looking for those hot samples and loops.

Yeah armand makes house but you could also say he is making hiphop.

  • I HAVE A MP3 CLIP THAT SAYS

    WECAMEHERE2DANCEANDPART-eeeH& hAvE a gOoD-tIMe nile rodgers from

anywho- lets all say hi 2 loleatta about your storms in T cups

FUNK produced many many many GR88888888 tunes that sum smartass DJ plays 2 buggery or mixes about with it

seems this constitutes a 'New Song'

'DISCO WENT DOWNHILL WHEN US WHITE GUYS GOT IN ON THE ACT'

    a quote from .....Pete Waterman

least the tuber of the armand trak told me str8 'who was the original' prooving sum DJs arent ALL arseholes

  • Duck Sauce made this song go from good to great... I honestly didn't know many people that knew this song...

then at WMC, DJ Jazzy Jeff played it and the whole crowd started signing along - one of the best moments of my life..

  • I just heard this for the first time right now. I really liked the Duck Sauce version better. In fact, it makes me wanna try something like this with other old songs. But how the hell can Duck Sauce sell this without disclosing where the music came from? It really is more of a really great edit than a new song.

  • @normvork

They pay sample clearance and if you would buy the record it would say "contains samples from final edition i can do it"

  • You kids are retarded. Ever heard of Daft Punk or Moodymann?

If you don't get sampling, you don't get house. Go away.

  • FUUUUUCKK DUCK SAUCE!!!!

  • Wow, I just listened to this for the first time, and I have to say even though I like "aNYway", it's such a lazy effort. Put the chorus on repeat, add some doof doof bass and speed up the tempo a little, and you've got a "brand new song"... It might as well have been officially a "remix", but not much has been changed, so it would be better off being called an "edit".

If Duck Sauce had some integrity, it would not be "aNYway - Duck Sauce", but "Final Edition - I Can Do It (Duck Sauce Edit)"

  • @RoflMaiWaffel true dat homes, i still love the track by "duck sauce" but i dont have as much respect for the group before i heard this OG version

  • @RoflMaiWaffel You know nothing about music production or sampling if you think its that simple. None of us would be here if Duck Sauce hadnt of had the hindsight to sample this track

  • @Pomaori It's just really disappointing when music these days is all about taking other people's credit. I'm no music producer, but when adding more bass is considered "reinterpretation for out generation" or appropriation, music has a bleak future. More people would be here if Duck Sauce gave more credit, instead of just giving mention on the slip cover of their 12".

  • @RoflMaiWaffel Final Edition would of approved of the duck sauce version, or else they could of blocked the release. Well thats just your opinion. It takes alot of mixing down to get the sound quality they did and they dont use a sound engineer. It takes incredible hindsight to sample, you have to have knowledge of music and know what would work. Its all too easy to come on here and criticize. Its alot more than adding bass and sampling is art.

  • It's pretty hard to find songs that DON'T use any samples ... but interestingly often from not so well known songs so that no one notices - that's what annoys me a bit. However, in this Duck Sauce song, they really took the best part and "recycled" it properly.

  • Nowhere have I seen Duck Sauce credit the original song or its artists. That is why I hate sampling.

  • @gaaratoast This was an official sampling, they credit on it on the linear notes of the single CD/12"

  • @BalooRJ If by "official sampling" you mean "we can't make music, so we're using yours" then yes, that's what happened.

  • love it!!! *sings*

  • To all people who say that it's cheap or even criminal to re-use song(parts) in current songs: It's called sampling.

And yes, even though songs can be pretty much identical at some points, it is far from criminal to make it a new original in stead of a remix.

The original artists are paid royalties to use the music, which in turn gives the new artists rights to do with the songs whatever they want, which can mean 'simpling down' songs (Pretty much what made Daft Punk so incredibly successful).

  • @Rshock3000 [They] can do it aNYway that [they] want it...

  • Mom, I can play this song as loud as I want it.

  • Surely true music lovers would investigate a sample used and hopefully appreciate it's use and open their ears to other artists of the same ilk.

Sampling I feel is a way of keeping good music (sorry for lack of a better term) alive (so long as people keep listening to the original that is).

  • @djcdk I agree completely. That's why I love the Disco House genre, it can take something as funky as this Final Edition track, and make it funkier for a new generation, while still having that flare from the original sample.

  • I love Duck Sauce - aNYway, but am somewhat sad that aNYway is just a cut down version of this brilliant song, made more acceptable to modern audience...

  • @Raazauq

yeah, wtf!?! It's the same fucking song, how dare he put his name on it as if he composed it.

  • @jnberger I agree, to a degree; it's like taking War and Peace, changing the punctuation, and putting my name on it. But for me it serves a purpose. If it weren't for these re-releases it would be a lot harder to find the great originals. These DJ's are throwing us a line to the good stuff, with a wink. Most today would puke at the idea of listening to something old or 'classic'. Their loss.

  • @Raazauq you just hit the bullseye with that explanation :) that was actually the whole point of ducksauce forming, to bring back disco house and make it more appealing to a modern audience :P

  • un morceau de 79 !

  • Hail the original, 1979... memories! Pretty expensive, too..

  • Hail the original, 1979... memories!

  • This with weed. Just love.

  • I <3 DISCO

  • duck sauce is better for me... but this awesome too!

  • 5 deaf hipsters disliked this.. lames

  • love both versions.

  • I like this, but it doesn't make me flip like Duck Sauce's does

  • @OldPizzaForBreakfast Truth, thats the main difference between the two. They're both excellent songs but Duck's is so much more pumping.

  • @DilutePeople yeah but it is a lot harder creating something than sampling something

  • @KushPizzaSleep very valid point sir : D

There would be no bumping duck sauce version had these gentlmen not taken the time and had the skill to write it in the first place.

  • Hey guys, the only reason for that is that editing and drum production equipment is lightyears ahead of the 70's now. Otherwise, this song would be killing it on dancefloors right now. Armand Van Helden just put a massive electronic kick drum under the chorus, cut back some of the layers, pulled out a few sections, and there you are. A real music fan will realize this, and respect the original for it's brilliance in writing, playing and production.

  • @MsJakestone

    I totally agree.

  • @MsJakestone I couldnt agree with you more!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @OldPizzaForBreakfast flip is an apropriate word, sir!!!

    yeah!

  • all respec to duck sauce i still love ther version but

it sounds the sam jus a bit slower

  • @rmgh123 Actually its Armand Van Helden & A-Trak, who make up Duck Sauce. The track is called aNYways.

  • @stillillmatic7 no "s" on aNYway but other than that this is the only post that is at all correct

    Duck Sauce 4 life yo

  • Has anyone got the dance remix of this? Think it's French.

  • @rmgh123

Armand Van Helden has a new version called Duck Sauce.

  • Thank you so much!! Love this song. "I can do it" is good too, :)

  • @CiaranOD67

"Duck Sauc" is the groups name (Van Helden and A-trak) and the song name is "aNYway"

  • this song's hot

  • Duck sawce :)

  • c du bon final edition mmm une tuerie.....

  • whats the name of the song originally

  • @JeMdr I can do it

  • @inmihiveritas

It's "I Can Do It (Anyway You Want)" ;)

  • Lyrics are deep here.. Love both versions.

  • What a heavy opening,.....awesome, its like a funky call to the dance floor, and then the smooth grooves starts....whoop!

  • i need more music like thiss!!

  • I swear I hear a sample of Chi Lites - Me And You in this, too...

But then again, I might be drunk ;-)

  • beautiful!! duck sauce really maintained the integrity of this song and yet put their own interpretation on it...this is what sampling is all about...its an interpretive art and not just rapping over a stolen beat that you massacred (kanye et al)

  • @Blakpepa

Well, i have to say that i like the duck sauce song and i don't like kanye, but i have to say that van helden just putted his drums under it and that's not what sampling is about! Even Kanye does more and better sampling!

  • Doesnt matter what the hell you say about Armand, he has made loads of wicked tune that still pulls crowds onto dancefloors to this day. Like "You Dont Even Know Me"! There is an art to sampling, but there is also an art to PICKING samples which no one has ever used before, which is something which he is also very good at!

  • he brought something back and made it relevant to our time so simply without tainting the song... I think its pretty awesome

  • * * * * *

  • thx for this anyway

    awesome song

i don't get armand's point now what is he changed ? he only changed the speed ?

  • now the name "ducksauce" might refer to a mastering technique called "ducking" where a bassdrum (added later by our good friend Armand) compresses the rest of the mix so you get the "french" pumping effect...

  • @pietervochten thx 4 the info

  • @pietervochten

yes, a bassdrum, and a touch of da sidechain

  • Orgasm to the ears ^^ EAR-gasm

  • this is REAL MUSIC

  • This is sampled in "Armand Van Helden & A-TRAK Present Duck Sauce - aNYway"

  • i can do it anyway that you want it

  • Sorry just to clear this up. My recentley posted message are in reply to TimothyBMarsden and his rude comments calling me a simpleton !!!! Reading his message and his grasp of the written word he should have a look in the mirror before calling anyone else a simpleton !!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Duck Sauce - Anyway

  • Does any one know who does the remix to this??

  • awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ou jeeeeeee

  • this sounds groovy

  • This is why AVH is so freeking good. Alo of producers nowadys would of over complecated the new version/remix/production but AVH has left space and kept it simple, which is why it works so freeking well. If it helps stop all that electro / tech no lyrics headsdown shuffle ur feet crap trks out there then I am all for it ;-) We need good songs back in clubs for people to sing.... After all is it not meant to be about ENTERTAINMENT !! ??

  • first of all lyrics suck all the time no matter what the only reason Dj's use lyrics is to make it catchy cause simpletons like your self get distracted on lyrics while the music is repetitive as fuck and and i agree hard style is gay no doubt but house music is the best type for dancing and clubs fuck they play House music in Las Vegas all the time soon its going to be elevator music

  • the only reason people like you think they can blab on is cuz wen people judge them they feel unquie n diffrent but every1s entitled to thier own shit so shut" up tings change all the time this is OOOLD SKOOL

  • First of don't call me a simpleton !!!!Unless ur gay I assume U go to clubs for females as well as the music. I have spent 15yrs + in the music industry, having a No.4 hit and working on 5 No.1's. I can tell ya this for nothing.... A club playing vocal house music is full of fantastic females.

  • What the hell do U mean by "DJ's use lyrics to distract fro m the repetive music" ???? When there are lyrics there is a melody u dumb twat, which means the chords of the bass and other musical etities change with the melody otherwise it will be out of tune so the music will not be repetitive !!!! Don;t bother replying until you know what the hell ur talking about

  • yeah it is so stop talking about it and freeking start enjoying!!

Armand has been doing the same thing for years nobody gives a shit

  • Yea, he really beefed up the presence of the song with that echoed loop. And the kick drum didn't take away from the great chorus. Big ups Armand.

  • Diggin' both tunes. Agree that aNYway should be classed as a remix though. All he's done is put a heavier beat over it really and polished it a bit.

  • Not even a remix, its just an Edit.

If you go and listen to a Dimitri From Paris Compilation he does more to the old disco tracks than they did to this and he only credits himself as editing it.

  • great tune, love this and duck sauce sampling it

  • it samples it

  • I agree its a bit criminal to say its a different song. Its really a remix.

  • @jlopezraygon4 Its called sampling you fucking idiot, Do you know how long it would take to do the mix down to make it sound the way it does ? clearly not

  • Duck Sauce doesn't have that energy.

  • The original sounds as good as the 'duck sauce' version.

    I like both!

  • Totally agree.

  • @jlopezraygon4 word

  • Wow, the original was just as funky!!!

  • or funkier...that's usually the case.

  • When you look at it from the time this song was released, it is already a good track as it is back then. With changing demand in dance music over time, this version may not appeal as well now given its slower pacing.

Duck Sauce's rendition is the equivalent of pimping up an American sedan from the 1970s: Leaving in the juicy parts, adding extra fluff to pump up its appeal and ditching the rest.

It's up to you to be the judge.

  • Amen, this original is a ton better.

  • I've literally got nothing bad to say about this tune and I LOVE slating tunes on youtube to provoke argumental responses. this is a classic.

  • Why isn't there a game like Rock Band that has great disco/funk music from the 70's and 80's? I would so buy that game. And this song should be on there for sure.

I guess I can hope the Duck Sauce mix can show up on DJ Hero.

  • That would be the sickest game in the world. Wars would end.

  • Because there was this whole "Disco Sucks" movement in the 1970s that seemed pretty racist really.

They even burned 1000's of soul & disco records in a big pile in a sports area. Crazy.

  • the 'disco sucks' movement was rooted in racism and homophobia. it had nothing to do with music... it was about the people enjoying the music

  • um no disco sucks was born out of late 70s valhallan lifestyle, when disco reached the mainstream charts on the strength of shit like the saturday night fever soundtrack. disco is awesome, but that anti-disco movement brought about hip-hop and punk rock so it it was just a reaction to excess.

  • that's a good point. a lot of the most popular disco was very camp-- the village people, donna summer, etc.

I like Salsoul, Tom Moulton, etc... but the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is pretty good too!

  • Real disco was popular in the gay clubs long before the rise of the pop disco acts and long after the fall of pop disco, places like the paradise garage & powerplant were playing full blown disco to a mainly gay audience all the way up until the early nineties.

  • ......

ive been hearing gay music all this damn you xD

  • "that anti-disco movement brought about hip-hop and punk rock so it it was just a reaction to excess. "

    not true.

disco, hip hop and punk all evolved simultaneously in nyc during the mid 70s and are different social groups responses to the same circumstances.

  • duck sauce is french cheese from '97 but boyo it works on the floor...

  • Im sorry but duck suce is better than the original and thats almost never the case

  • dus anybody have teh remix for this

  • yeah

it's by duck sauce and the songs called anyway

it took me a while to find it, i was wondering what it was called too!

  • lol I came here the other way around. heard the remix and thought: ok there has to be original around somewhere. nice!

  • ok that should be.."an original"

  • Simple. Buy it, you cheapskate!

  • haha thats outrageous, but i like the anyways version better

  • 1:45 Duck Sauce - aNYway sample

  • ha, its lil more than a sample, id call it either an official remix or the 2009 version cause they got some dude singing the whole song over a diff beat.

  • pretty sure they just did a really good job mixing the samples to get a clarity out of the vocals that just sounds clean.

  • It's a direct sample of the original.
