Our autoshop class has been building and installing these kits free for learning purposes over last years semester and we are still doing it. They really do increase miles per gallon and acceleration, and also reduce hydrocarbon/CO2 emissions.
I have had one of these on my 97 Nissan Pathfinder before, didnt see a noticeable difference in mileage and ended up taking it off because there was a white oxidized substance building up on the inlet of where it joined the intake tube.
my stereo system decreases mpg a little bit, but for the amount of amps you say the HHO unit is using, it should still increase overall mpg, and also acceleration.
I dunno about everyone else but I built and installed 3 of these HHO devices so far, and each time we saw MPG improvement. take it on faith and just try it.
I admit i was wrong. but im still getting more MPG. i may not understand alternators, or have a college degree, but this technology is working for me every day I drive and I dont have anything else to say except to build one and try it. you can find basic hho plans for free online.
@BetterFuelEconomy Obviously you've never driven a race truck with dual 3,500cfm electric fans and 8 very high power off road lights, all that drops the idle about 100rpm which is very substantial when the engine is putting out well over 500hp.
@BetterFuelEconomy You have got to be kidding. And the example you used about the stereo and amp...actually, it would decrease your fuel mileage. But, its such a small amount that its negligible. If there is no friction, why do alternators wear out? (Rhetorical question).
Thansk onrop2004. Saved me from commenting on alternator loading. Like to read through the comments on the various vids, but most are just kids who have never bent a wrench or got their hands dirty. I would like to see some input on how many CFM's of hydrogen these units are suppose to make.
Wow! I am shocked at the amount of ignorance I have read here. The Cummins Power Generation Tech is the only one that makes any sense. Please do some research before you post. There are many people out there that are looking for great advice, not someone that explains things via the use of the 'f-bomb'. Really, the use of that word should portray the degree of intelligence we are dealing with here. I am looking for some stats on the Hydrogen MPG increase on this system! Anyone have the numbers?
@BetterFuelEconomy and you got your degree where? cause you dont understand the operation of an alternator
the regulator controls the amount of voltage being applied to the rotor coil the more voltage applied the stronger the electromagnetic field as the electromagnetic field increases more energy is produced in the stator
it does not produce a constant amount of electricity
on a powerful engine, where it just MIGHT be making too much power when you're accelerating. But a less powerful engine is making the bare minimum it needs.
How is it any different from turbocharging? They both cause the fuel to be burned more completely, how does the hydrogen work so much better? And why isn't this widespread if it works? I'm trying to be open minded, I just don't get it.
@BetterFuelEconomy I know somebody with a good car stereo, when he cranks up the volume when parked, the engine idles at a lower speed. Your knowledge of electronics is flawed. The alternator produces a constant VOLTAGE (~12 volts). The current is not constant. The alternator produces whatever current is necessary in order to satisfy the load, which is why an HHO generator WILL put a load on the engine. (Although a very small load, it's benefits are debatable I'm just pointing out a fallacy.)
@KrazeeCain how do you plan to charge a battery that produces 12.6V with 12V
with the engine running the eletrical system will measure 13-15 volts voltage is pressure in an electrical circuit just air PSI pushes air through a hose voltage pushes electrons through wires you cant fill a tire that has 30PSI in it with an air source that only produces 20PSI, thus you cant recharge a battery after starting an engine if the battery is 12.6V and your charging system is only producing 12V
@72plyfury Bullshit...if increased amperage draw on your alternator causes a vehicle to use more fuel, then why doesnt my stereo system decrease my MPG? Every person I know with a sound system in their car has NEVER reported any loss in MPG. These HHO Generators use LESS amps than a stereo system, so how can you tell me it will increase strain on the alternator if a stereo bass system will not?
@Onthebrink371 the hydrogen and oxygen cause the gasoline to ignite faster, cleaner, and more completely. Gasoline does not burn completely in your engine, that is why we have pollution and a catalytic converter to clean up the leftover gas particles. With HHO, the gasoline will ignite more completely, which means you get more power from every drop of gas, and less pollution from leftover gas molecules.
This works because there is 1.7 gallons of hydrogen in a gallon water V.S. about 1/2 Gal. in a gallon on gasoline. Therefore you can convert your cars surplus alternator output by a ratio of 3.4 though in practice 33%
if it was why did it work for me and all my friends only reson why its not on the big market is the oil companys make more money doing what thay r now
@TechWithLukasz exactly, the electrical load on the alternator and battery causes the engine to use more fuel - similar to the way air conditioning does. I feel sorry for people being scammed over hydrogen. They are the gullible type that probably fall for the Nigerian scams! Not one system has a way of reducing petrol/diesel in proportion to gas injection, so the SAME or MORE FUEL IS USED. Are people *SO* thick and stupid that they can't see this!!!! Putting gas on the air intake is silly.
@urbex2007 Well I guess I was scammed, I fill my truck up every 2 weeks instead of one... My mpg has almost doubled. But that darn alternator is sapping all my fuel mileage. Thank heavens for people who have never even looked into this technology and have something to say about it.
@locsphere SEE EVERYONE, it DOES work! The only reason these idiots are saying it doesnt work is because they refuse to try it and it makes them feel stupid because HHO is contraversy to what they learned in college, so it makes their college degree seem useless, and they get butt-hurt. Thank you locsphere for posting your MPG gains!
@urbex2007 You're right. Unless you have a way to cut down the amount of fuel going to the injectors, you could add gallons of hydrogen and it will not make a single difference in mileage.
The PCM automatically regulates fuel flow. It is called fuel trim and as long as your car has elecronic fuel injection(as opposed to the mechanical systems of the 60's and 70's) it is continually adapting to ever changing conditions.
@72plyfury We use special computer chips with HHO that regulate fuel injectors and timing. The computer chip actually causes the injectors to use LESS gas than before, and the HHO will compensate for the lack of fossil fuel, which increases MPG.
@m1aws its not water vapor, its Hydrogen and Oxygen combined in a gas form, not a bonded molecule form but they are just "Stuck" together. Thats why we call it HHO gas.
@BetterFuelEconomy Show me the empirical proof your "gas" exists. There is no scientific papers or proof anywhere.
Water is like common salt. for all intents and purposes, completely inert but is made out of extremely reactive elements.
the only advantage you can get out of water is in the absorption of the excess heat energy which will normally be lost out of the pipe. Instead we flash water to steam in the chamber which gives more power. Water injection (engines).
