The right of every citizen to work in support of their lives through their own industry is a natural right. The exercise of that right is NOT the proper or legal subject of taxation. There is no place in the tax code that identifies United States citizens as persons liable for the payment of an income tax on the exercise of that natural right. Parenti's argument is wrong because it is based on a social theory that is incoherent with the ability for an outsider to exist. Marxism is more than just wanting to have a communist society, it is a grand philosophical system, and that is what I don't like about Parenti. My point is if man's consciousness is just a product of historical and class conditions, objective though as such is impossible, because no one can overcome said conditions to arrive at the truth. Yet Marx posited that system.
There is more to a position than just what should be, the normative part of a theory connects with a basic social theory about how the world functions. My point was that the social theory is based on untenable assumptions. So, we should not presuppose that capitalism is right, we should make sure are foundational assumptions are not so totalizing and deterministic that they allow for human agency in thought.
Of course there is more to a position that what should be. There is also the investigation of "what is," in reference to our current system.

Parenti's argument is wrong because it is based on a social theory that is incoherent with the ability for an outsider to exist. Marxism is more than just wanting to have a communist society, it is a grand philosophical system, and that is what I don't like about Parenti. My point is if man's consciousness is just a product of historical and class conditions, objective though as such is impossible, because no one can overcome said conditions to arrive at the truth. Yet Marx posited that system.

There is more to a position than just what should be, the normative part of a theory connects with a basic social theory about how the world functions. My point was that the social theory is based on untenable assumptions. So, we should not presuppose that capitalism is right, we should make sure are foundational assumptions are not so totalizing and deterministic that they allow for human agency in thought.
