Close encounters also has multiple versions. However, you can watch all three versions in one dvd/blu-ray combo pack. Hell, even Spielberg as humble as he was actually said it was a mistake to show the inside of the mother ship. I don't think some of you fans understand that art is important and it should not be altered because just like Mona Lisa, Starry Night, etc, art belongs to more than just the artist... it belongs to the world.

The theatical cut WAS released in the 5-disc Blade Runner Blu-ray set! You only got the Final Cut two-disc version. Scott respected that fans liked that version of the film, while Lucas does not.

George hasn't released the original trilogy untouched since 1995. He wants to make changes? Fine. But he isn't giving anyone a choice. Some people want to see the original the way they were released in theaters. I for one would like to see the original with the scene of the Tie-fighter getting its wings shot off, & the pod floating aimlessly in space, which was the inspiration of the toy's ability to pop the wings off in battle.

You adress the work as Mr.Plinkett is just nitpicking minor details, which to me is part of the joke in the reviews, he adresses valid flaws just aswell as mentioning minor unwarranted details, some of it holds true to the construction of narratives, bu some of it is isn't because of false representation. And Redlettermedia has for the record produced feature length films afaik

Since you brought up Blade Runner, the difference there is, they're all available to be viewed/purchased in the best format out there. It's a 5-disc set. You know this right? And for Superman II, theatrical cut is available too right alongside the Donner Cut. THAT'S NOT THE CASE WITH STAR WARS. That's why people are complaining. How hard is it to understand that really?

I think I'm aware only one authorized director's cut would be made for those movies. Any other cut that's made for Blade Runner weren't overseen by the director. That said, the original trilogy, having another special edition down the line for the other two, will be the most director's cuts with control from the director himself.

And by the way, the character in the RedLetterMedia reviews is fictional. You really take those BlairWitch style intercuts with him interrogating that girl seriously?
