  • c'est ma scène préféré :)

  • This scene is just incredible! Great film.

  • *ATTENTION*I AM A MAJORING IN FRENCH FILM IN COLLEGE AND I'M ANSWERING THE QUESTION TO WHAT IS SAID IN THIS CLIP.The first Piece of dialog, when Belle is in front of her door, is the voice of the beast."Belle, I am the door to your room." The next piece is when Belle is in front of the mirror.."I am your mirror Belle, reflect in your heart for me and i will reflect for you." I encourage you to seek out the full version of this film, the cinematography will blow your Mind for a film made in 1946.

  • can present it with the aspect ratio as the director wishes it be seen. This is unwatchable for me and th best scene of the film.. Shame!

  • Un des plus beaux films.. une ambiance délicieuse, des décors et des costumes baroques très beaux, bref, une petite merveille ce film de 1946 !

  • In Part 1 of the HBO film Angels In America, there is the famous dream sequence between Prior and Harper that pays homage to this scene.

  • Dedico esto a Concepcion Bouza Leiva, Luisito Aguero, Tulio Ramirez, Zoraida San Pedro, Orlandito Aloma, Esteban Luis Cardenas, Espino, EL Didorondango y a Daniel Sakuntala

  • Concepcion Bouza Leiva...dedico esta escena a usted , al pintor Eduardo Michelsen , a Benjamin Ferrera , a Rogelio Favio Hurtado , a Rogelio Quintana , al infante terrible ''''

  • Is this a silent movie with music, and have you put it in slow motion or is it just like that?

  • it's filmed that way if you get it on dvd. not a silent, though

  • oh right, thanks

  • @Cader1dris it is like that, the Directer Jean Cocteau made it in slow motion to add the magic illusion of the candle holding arms and the overall magic of the scene. the same effect can be seen when the curtains are blowing slowly into the castle. ;)

  • plus the film is not silent, it's in french

  • I love how the caryatids can move, old, but awesome!

  • I first saw this film at the theater at 15 in the 71. This is the scene that completely mesmerized me and stayed with me forever. I truly felt as if I was in a dream being lifted from my seat. It was probably the most beautifully surreal moments I'd experienced and felt in a film at such an impressionable period. Still one of my favorite film of all time.

  • I love watching this scene on the DVD with Phillip Glass' opera.. It's really beautiful. Love it.

  • Hi! Someone had to mention that this unique 1946 cinematographic "chef d'oeuvre" was made by Jean Cocteau, a French poet, novelist, dramatist, designer, boxing manager and filmmaker. Jean Cocteau was one of the greatest Surrealists of his time!

  • and can you try to put subtittles (if you can) I only know a little french *haha*

well I know that the door says "belle I am your door".....no kidding

    Beautiful music by Georges Auric

  • I put the subs in the movie.

  • After she enters the room the mirror says: I am your mirror, Belle! Reflect for me and I will reflect for you!

  • Whata movie! And a great scene too.

  • Thanks so much :)

  • and can you try to put subtittles (if you can) I only know a little french *haha*

  • Ah, ok I'll see if I can do it.

  • Nothing Specific..umm maybe 1 of Beauty and Beast in the beginning you know angry at eachother... and 1 with them getting along...Ive never seen this movie But I really want to get it....:)

  • Do you have any more clips...

  • Any specific requests?

  • I love this movie:) Did you know that this movie inspired Stevie Nickss song VBeauty & The Beast?:)

  • Didn't know that :)

  • the beast in this freaked me out :D haha they put it on the background in the stevie nicks concert yesterday while she sang beauty and the beast and man did it freak me out :s

  • Is this the second DVD realise of the movie by Critirion Collection?

  • Nope, it's from a restoration collaboration between Centre National de l'Audiovisuel Luxembourg and CLT-UFA.

  • In Criteriun Collection site they said that used the last film restoration effort and plus a digital restoration of their own.

  • Well the one I have doesn't have Criterion's logo in the beginning or any mentioning at the end.

  • Fantastik!
