You know, the quality of the IDF is rapidly deteriorating. They used to defend their country against hostile, armed troops from other countries. Today, all they do is massacre innocent civilians. I am very glad that Israel developed their Iron Dome, as bottle rockets no longer give then an excuse to shoot down civilians. However, i would question the efficiency of a system which uses a $70,000 missile to shoot down a $5 one.

Considering that before naksa there was already the nakba-day with violence and israeli soldiers injured, so that had without a doubt big effect on the soldiers response to the charging protestors. And it seems it was planned protest anyways, as Syria had paid the protesters money to go there. Golan Heights were captured in war, Syria can blame itself for losing them.

The Arabs did plan offensive strikes against Israel, but they did not intend to carry them out unless Israel went to war, which the Arabs knew was likely. That doesn't make it right. I do believe that Syria has been encouraging these protests, because they take the attention off the domestic crisis, but that doesn't make it right.

@TheHabati Please read up on your history. Israel was bombing Damascus, and the Syrians had intelligence that Israel was building up a massive invasion force. So to make a threatening move, Egypt moved its troops to the border with Israel, and blockaded the Straits of Tiran, but it agreed with the Soviet Union that it would not fire on Israel. Israel then invaded Egypt and Syria. Israel knew that Egypt wasn't going to invade Israel, but Israel started a war anyway.

The Arabs did plan offensive strikes against Israel, but they did not intend to carry them out unless Israel went to war, which the Arabs knew was likely. Merchant vessels which, after prior warning, clearly resist capture may be attacked.

Under Article 102 of the San Remo Manual, it states that a blockade is prohibited if the damage to the civilian population is excessive in relation to the military advantage. A 2009 report by the UN Human Rights Council showed that Israel's restrictions of both imports to and exports from Gaza were unclear and often inconsistent, denying the civilian population adequate nutrition.

Since the blockade is illegal as the UN has asked Israel to end it Israel is in breach of 1988 International Maritime Organization's Convention on the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation which it has signed, it has breached Article 3 which prohibits seizing a ship by force or any other form of intimidation, or to commit any acts of violence against the people on the ship.

Don't tell me the Mavi Marmara was packed with good-willed "peaceful unarmed civilians" not wanting to breach the blockade. If they truly cared for Gazans, why did they REFUSE to dock into Ashdod and have the aid transferred via land?
