@DennisDMA The original is from 1997. It was remade in 2008 with almost the exact same pictures, but as an American version. Both are written and directed by genius Michael Haneke.
@comedianFA How about you try doing that next time someone is threatening your life? And who's to say that Paul wouldn't have hit her with the golf club and then attacked the others?
@tubestation66 Sorry for being a party pooper but it's private private property, the only way people could look through the windows is by being on there property.. but the main gate is locked. The bad guy's (dunno what else to call them :L) Got in by going through a whole in a fence didn't they.

Sick Michael Haneke has contributed to 'art'which anaesthesises people to violence implying its usual and maybe OK too.For 90min the audience is oppressed by being forced to watch 2 sick youths who descend on a family of 3 and torture them for 'fun' psychologically , physically and finally kill them all. The violence is not shown explicitly but you imagine it which is a lot worse!Film cuts as they're about to do the same to yet another family. We hope for justice but none comes. Protest!!
oh please! bzeliotis, nobody is going to force you to watch it, last time I checked, you only paid for a movie ticket if you in fact wanted to see it...there is more REAL violence on cnn, and that's just for their ratings! now THAT'S truly sick, that's a real snuff movie live. and you can't say the director is fucked up or the actors are fags..just by watching a movie, or need I remind you it's only a movie? plus going by your logic, what kind of disposition would you have "boybandmassacre" (2)?
it's supposed to shock people into realizing just how ridiculous the gratuitous abundance of violence in modern media, targetted at a passive and sadistic horror movie fed public, is. he's denouncing what you find so appalling.
I'm no prude, but to make this sick vomit twice is proof of the directors fucked up disposition.I don't feel audiences are sick to watch it as the majority are watching it to see the glove wearing faggots get their comuppence.I think anything involving kids being murdered is way across the line."Something" has to be kept sacred or else in 10 years time it'll take a snuff movie to shock us?
Its not just to shock you, man. Its to provoke people to think about the level of violence in their entertainment. The only reason for the remake is to appeal to english-speaking audiences, since most people refuse to read subtitles or watch foreign films.
well i can tell you theyre trying to figure who to kill cause its past a time which they've bet that the family would be dead by then (if its the same as the new one, havent wacthed this one but people say its totally the same)
If you are intrested i have uploaded the scene with the remote control and i have also uploaded a scene from Benny's Video with some comments. I like Haneke because he shows me that Hollywood is fake, is an illusion, not the reality. I suggest to see also Cache'.
The conclusion is that we love violence and we love hate but we don't feel guilty about our animal and primitive instincts. The only thing we care about is that the "good" guy MUST win against the "bad" AT ANY COST and he must die and he must suffer.
We feel liberated because the good wins against the bad. And this is exactly the point of the director. We don't see the violence of the bad guy but we hate him. On the other hand we see the violence by the victim and we accept it and we are happy!
It is the most violent film I have ever seen. The first time I saw it I was shocked. It is very violent without violent scenes(!). Did you note this? The only violence we see is only by the victim. In that scene you finally feel liberated.
oh, i read interviews, etc. - the problem i think is he is not getting what he wants - the viewers are either bored or appalled, but i know of no one who actually got to the level of perception that haneke intended - it happened to me only after i saw pasolinis 'salo' that i moved up into the right mindspace... but i still have no intentions of seeing 'funny games' again - too painful- btw. i hate violent films in general, so i am not part of the 'target audience' anyway.
I agree! It is too painful.Me too i saw it once.I saw many violent films in the past and my conclusion is that violent films are creating conscious and unconcious damages to the mind and the spirit of the viewer. They are completely useless.
On the other hand we must admit that this particular film created all this reflection about violence. It is not another violent film. It is a critical film against violence and against passive viewers.
You know, it is really sad to go see a movie and when you go out of the cinema you already talk about other things. If this happens often to a person means that he choose to see the wrong movies.

Dumbest movie. Dumb characters.
Dumb parents breed dumb children. This is how you do a reverse mind fuck:
Tip all the mother have to do is slap the other guy and tell her friend that the guy try to sexually harass her as the boat approaches.
-End of the story.
Shall we call it:
Mind FUCK Condom? Mind Fuck Chastity Belt? or Reverse Mind FUCK? Mind Fuck Rapex?
