    Totally awesome!

  • classic smooth jazz. just as i like it!

  • great sound

  • I love it....Dimebag is still better!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • Love this sound! How does an experienced guitarist with some jazz background get started playing like this? Nice Summertime interlude at 2:00. Appreciate your advice

  • @Judplay I imagine the same way you get to Carnegie hall.

  • This is really good! I don't know much about jazz, but I can tell you are a pro, mister Gomes :) Keep it up!

  • bravo! bravíssimo!!!

  • fantastic! good sound man! 5 stars!

  • Beautiful tone.

  • lovely feel

  • Wow! Can I get the notation for this.

As good as a Joe Pass melody and chord. Why isn't this guy known? Something wrong with the music bussiness.

  • Are talking about Wilson Gomes, or Dizzy? 'cause Dizzy gillespie is very well known. . .

  • @willmill43

    Gomes of course!

  • @intervalkid it's the "business" part.

  • @intervalkid Well, probably because there has been quite some progression taken place since Joe Pass. For instance check out John Stowell or Luc Sylvan. These are today's Joes Passes.

  • I didn't say he was as good of a guitarist as Joe Pass overall. I said this was as good of a melody and chord. He is focusing on bass lines much more than pass and doesn't alter tempo as much so it may not feel as expressive to you. Playing like this you must know the song inside and out as far as both the chords and melody. Sure he's probably not as skilled at playing solo's in bands as per Joe Pass with Dizzy. Yet his chord work is expressive. Gomes is young here.

  • He's so calm.....

  • great!!!

  • who is this???

  • wow it almost sounds like an electric...:)

  • it is an electric :)

  • Stunningly amazing technique ...

  • that is great

  • Dizzy Gillespie was a member of Benny Carter's band when he wrote "Interlude" (or most of it) in about early '42. Not long after he joined Earl Hines' big band, and in about early '43 Hines suggested changing the piece's title to "Night In Tunisia." If you do a google search on

    "benny carter" "dizzy gillespie" 1941

and choose the first hit, the 4th B&W photo down is of the Carter band that included Gillespie.

  • thank you ! that's wonderful ! one of my best loved standards. never heard it (or even imagined it) on solo guitar, and both the arrangement and the playing are awesome.

  • I eared one in the early 80's by Pierre Bensusan in France (Rennes). It was giant... infortunately, he never recorded it

  • where can i get the music for this?

  • caraaalho! impossível! hehehe

  • Great version.

  • He plays the Night in Tunisia head, but he blows over Summertime. You should put that in the description.
