I hope this happens for Kenya's future. considering the extreme level of corruption and what is also the culture of Kenya I have little faith in the government's ability to do anything productive. maybe the private sector can step up and make this happen. good news.
first feed ur citizens and refurbish existing cities than talk about Konza.anyway half of the monet is going to be laundered.just like in lamu they asked for 3 trillion shillings when only 5 billion was needed. They are going to end up paying guards millions shillings like in lamu.idiots.good project but they cant even finish by 2070 let alone 2030.even the investors arrive in JKIA they will doubt if they shud invest.start from the scra tch niggers then go up.
This is all part of the Vision 2030 program. Its about time we moved away from Nairobi and spread development to Lamu, Konza, Isiolo, Kilifi. If you look at the document itself you will be amazed at what has to be achieved and what has been achieved. Investors will have no impetus to put their money in Kibera... but in the long run, a project like this can provide alot of employment and wealth creation during and after....
How's this huge & complex undertaking gonna be a success if much simpler tasks of running Nrb are a mess?Enforce all rules Singapore style, update systems & processes, seal all revenue loopholes & make all pay rates on time including bigshots(the Clintons pay 28k/yr for their hse).If you want nice cities walk the talk & those who'll not keep high standards can ship out to their shagzz..
I LUV THIS PROJECT ,PLIZ START THE CONSTRUCTION EVEN TOMORROW.THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SLUMS IN NAIROBI.IF THE GOVERNMENT HAD STRICT LAND USE RULES IN NAIROBI,WE WOULDNT HAV HAD SLUMS LIKE KIBERA.....THIS NEW CITY WILL CREATE JOBS FOR MANY JOBLESS KENYANS.
@wesmonite this is how cities should be planned and build. if this project is successful, you will three or four similar projects follow rapidly. All paid for by private partnerships-all the govt needs is to lay down the road network.
@lumulixx thank u sir...the lamu port and isiolo resort city will be next.the international airport in isiolo is under construction.am 4 this project 100% and those opposed to it dont know the economic benefits...
HOW CAN YOU COMMIT 70 BILLION DOLLARS TO A TECH CITY YET MILLIONS ARE STARVING UP NORTH. STOP MOVING WAY AHEAD OF YOUR TIME. KENYA HAS ALOT OF ISSUES IN THE GRASS ROOTS. BUT AGAIN, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WISHFUL THINKING.
@Kenya2012andbeyond dude projects like this wil bring in money and investors which will translate to more money to help the guys in the north.. you cant help others when your hungry yourself.
haha remains to be seen bt all the best, tho i'd say that the us govt had very little to do wth establishment ya silicon valley.its private enterprise that brought up that thng.nt govt.govt shud nt be in the business of business
Ha. Pie in the sky.... I think in terms of the monumental leaps that someone in charge of IT in a country like Kenya could make, Ndemo has been crawling. This is not a technology play, it's a real estate play and has nothing to do with improving Kenya's tech capability. Ensure full broadband and cable access to all corners of the country, enact copyright laws, enhance the NSE's capability to handle tech IPOs and investors will come flooding.
If only Kenyans know how people minds are being controlled using satellite etc...they will never support these projects.
