If you don't vote for the winner you wasted your vote. Listen to yourself. You're saying in essence that you should vote for one of the two most likely to become president and not the one who you think has the best ideas for running the country.

The way I see it, it is highly unlikely for Nader to get in there, so you might as well vote for the one you prefer of who actually has a chance.

Let me explain my point more clearly... From my observations (could be wrong) most people who want to vote third party, would prefer Obama over McCain if it had to between them. So (if my observation is correct), these people all vote third party, and then maybe McCain wins, and then they would all regret not voting for Obama. I'm all for getting in third parties, but you need to get them more attention in the beginning. At this point, they're not worth the attention. I hope this made sense.

actually most opinion polls show people voting for third parties when only given the choice between democrat or republican, choose not to vote at all.

more and more people are growing tired of the two party dictartorship over this country. the time to promote real change in this country cannot be put off for another four years or another or another.

And it's ridiculous that they would choose not to vote at all. Now matter how much you dislike them, you're going to have a preference if you interested in politics at all, so vote. And in a way that actually makes a difference. Not voting won't bring down democrat and republican power.

exactly, not voting won't bring down the democrat and republican power over this country. which is one reason why people choose a third party over an empty suit spewing rhetoric that sounds the best to them or whatever other ridiculous reason most people choose between dems and reps. its people who aren't interested in politics that don't seek out someone that actually speaks to their needs. you should vote your conscience and beliefs, not on who think will win.

I think you're misunderstanding my point. I'm not suggesting that you vote for who you think will win. I'm suggesting that you are, in fact, wasting your vote if it doesn't go towards someone with a chance. Nader, and other third party candidates, did not make enough attention early enough. They're hopeless (again) this time around. So why not use your vote in a way that actually makes a difference, and vote for your most liked (or least hated) candidate with a chance? (continued)

... If I were supportive of a certain third party candidate, I'd still rather be able to say in the end, "well atleast so-and-so won instead of so-and-so," than not make a difference at all and instead have to say "I can't believe so-and-so won! I should've voted for so-and-so!"

McCain has gone from 'fundamentals of our economy are strong' to 'we have to suspend the campaign & delay the debates in order to deal with the greatest economic crisis since WWII' in about a week. This is a cynical political ploy designed to help his sagging poll numbers & distract attention from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis who was paid $15k a month by Freddie Mac as recently as last month, directly contradicting statements made by the entire campaign as late as Tuesday.
