For those who weren't around then or have short memories (or memories burned out on acid), Yasgur's Farm was where the Woodstock Festival was held in the summer of '69. I missed it but could hear and feel the vibes from where I was, 50 miles away. What a great era that was!

Mountain was such a great band.Yasgurs farm, Nantucket sleighride and,Theme for an Imaginary western is just 3 great rock ballads.West was such a good guitar player,and with a great tone.

Actually Leslie west said that felix and collins had a long-term trio deal with another girl but when felix started seeing her without collins she went mad..and everyone knows the rest. by the way..get well soon Leslie...one leg or 2 ..you are still the best.

The blonde haired girl on the cover of "Climbing".......is that supposed to represent Gail Collins?I agree Felix was a great talent-but I wondered if Collins was  in a sense depicted by the drawing of the blonde girl.i know Collins had blonde hair.

@1994g0 Gail Collins did the cover art. She is/was a gifted artist. People put all the blame for Felix's death on Gail. The truth is that drug abuse makes monsters of people.

I was a senior in high school when this album was new and it was huge. also the doors morrison hotel, and led zeppelin 2, and lots of detroit rock. great days and times to have been around for and at the height of youth.

@equallyeasilyfuqyou I lived in detroit in those days so music was all around me...bob seger,the stooges(Iggy pop) alice cooper,ted nugent,the frost, and of course the lengendary MC5. not to mention the great groups at motown records when it was a great label. add to that the fact detroit was a main tour stop for all national and international rock groups. we saw several different great bands every weekend.no time like it since.

@magofa Pure poetry! So sad we don't have Felix with us. I was there that Saturday afternoon when Mountain took the stage and blew everyone away. I was there again in 2009 for the 40th.  While Leslie West's playing has grown leaps and bounds, it wasn't the same without Felix.

@reddiaperbaby Felix gave that crazy woman credit for everything. Notice all the Pappalardi songs have Collins name as songwiter also. She also did all the artwork on the album covers including the one above. West said when it came out he said Gail Collins name was all over the album and it sort of pissed him off.

@cooltooth112 Felix was off his fucking head on drugs. Gail was a great artist, as Felix was a great music-mind. They never should have gotten together. Throwing drugs and guns and "open-marriage" together makes a hell-mess.

Most people that I know only know Mountain because of Mississippi Queen. They had so many brilliantly great songs that never get heard on the radio. This song is one of my favorites.Mountain lives forever.

Awesome, 40 years on.

So are all of the Mountain cuts.

I have to wonder why these guys weren't more dominant,

they had the talent to just rule the entire 1970s.

Seems there was turmoil, and they broke up,

but then their material had a raw quality to it,

and I question whether even if they stayed together would they have

appealed to the more mainstream Rock audeince,
