  • Only David Lynch's Waltz would be in 4/4 time. ;)

  • i think he seriously has had some kind of brain damage since then, he talked so much faster.. he can barely put two words together now

  • 6 dislike,, sorry but you have no place on our earth..

  • Love the haircut

  • Fucking Jay Leno...He's unworthy of David's time.

  • Dave Lynch gets mad pussy yo.

  • Why would David suggest its ok to watch FWWM before viewing the series. The movie will ruin Season One and some of Season Two

  • Comment removed

  • I'd like to see Lynch recreate The Great Gatsby.

  • @pontemercy That and Mary Poppins would be a good one.

  • Twin peaks makes me live in a dream.

  • @zdragonforce Yeah wish there were shows like that on nowadays, never seen anything quite like it, that theme music even just brings it all back.

  • a beautiful thing

  • David lynch, Hunter s thompson Heroes!!!!!!

  • Twin Peaks Fire Walks With Me is a great but unfortunately unappreciated movie, which did not get the attention it deserved

  • You can tell that Lynch is a genius

  • Lynch should make a movie about Lenos chin

  • Awww...he's just so sweet and adorable!!

  • has he always worn the same clothes his whole life?

  • that was awkward

  • he speaks in riddles. He owns you ants, lol!!!!!

  • waltz.. 4/4 time?

  • @DamiaanVDW Beat me to it lol

  • Hit-and-miss director, but still damn good and incredibly creative. Dune is one of the most underrated movies of the last 30 years.

  • Was about to watch this interview, being a fan of Lynch.

    Watched the first 5 seconds.

Paused to write this comment, immediately closing after.

  • Lynch reminds me of Andy Kaufman. They're entertaining because they're so original.

  • Dune sucked ass.

  • @generalcircle

It's certainly no introduction to Dune for people who don't want to read. The Sci-Fi channel mini-series of Dune gives a good taste of the book though.

  • @generalcircle Fuck you.

  • Neither Jay Leno nor his fans have any appreciation for Jazz versions of stories.

  • WHAT THE FUCK WITH JAY LENO? FAKE OVERWEIGHT LEADHEAD. THE SEMIRETARD.

  • david lynch is hotter now

  • Its funny because David Lynch seems like the most ordinary, chill dude

People are just assholes and like to portray him as some old, incoherent weirdo

  • @arb11player yeah, real artist dont act like lady gaga or those shitfuckers, they dont need to be all the time exposed

  • @arb11player

Couldn't agree more. None the less, that reputation did make his career.

  • @arb11player yeah he's super real. i think he tries to show us what that feels like. which disturbs our inner phony. i think the more phony you are, the more upset you get xp

  • @arb11player he is a weirdo, a genius freak but nothing wrong w/ that..

  • @arb11player Most people are idiots and haven't even bothered to watch an entire Lynch movie and just assume they're weirdness for the sake of weirdness.

  • no not fucking brian denehey. - oh. bye-ee

  • @MikeH1986MikeH What the fuck is your deal? How many David Lynch videos have you commented on?

  • @maxwell12345678999 What an odd question. I have not offered any deals to anyone.

In answer to your second question, I have commented on two videos.

  • Leno sucks.

  • Boring interview, but worth off course watching because of Lynch and the movie promoting of Fire Walk With Me. Eraserhead,Blue Velvet,Wild At Heart,Inland Empire.

  • waltzes are 3/4. I would have expected lynch to know that. I dunno why?

  • very nice of lynch to not act condesendant towards big jaw

that film wasnt his best work though :S

    mulholland dr is my fave

anyone else notice that's the mother of susan from seinfeld?

  • Is this book real? Can I find it somewhere? There's something to everything he is saying, this guy is a genius depending on how you interpret it. Jay Leno sucks as does his audience.

  • Next: actor Brian Dennehy!

  • Jay leno is a shithead.

  • You know, David Lynch is to me the Andy Kaufman of directors: Immensely talented, and he gives interviews in which he is playing the audience right into his hands, without them ever realizing it. Awesome.

  • How do you know what she likes? I can't believe they used this scene to promo the film. It is probably the most disturbing line in the entire film. That and when BOB says I want to taste through your mouth. Seriously though this whole interview was like a david lynch film. All it needs is time lapse photography of a decaying animal juxtaposed with the canned laughter of dead people.

  • i want his theme music, and lynch seems so cool and chill. Ha.

  • strange choice of clip for a chat show. this is one of the creepiest and most dramatic scenes in the movie.

  • How do you know what she likes! Love that scene.

  • wow david lynch looked actually relaxed in this vid. the prob gave him 5 valium lol

  • it's when i had my first original thought i think haha

  • I can't watch any more of this, I really admire Lynch but this interviewer is not funny and not worthy to talk to Lynch

  • @LettersAtoZorNos029 what country are u from? cause u really are blessed to not know who jay leno is

  • lol... Lenno sucked even back in the day when he was 'popular'

  • He looks like Bill Clinton, Lynch i mean is what he looks like. He's a great director.

  • I hate when everyone laughs and Jay Leno thinks he is funnier than he really is.

  • i wish David Lynch would go on Conan's show

  • A waltz is 3/4, not 4/4!!!!!!!

  • "I like living in a small cloud of fear." David Lynch is so cute and funny. Jay Leno thinks Jay Leno is cute and funny. Lynch should jack Leno's mouth open and drop maggots in there to clean out his voice box.

  • James Stewart on α-Methylfentanyl. David Lynch is creativity on legs...

  • David for soem reason always reminds me of Henry from Eraserhead, I guess that might be why he describes Eraserhead as his most personal movie, I see a lot of parallels between Henry and David.

  • I love Lynch's "it's a beautiful theing", awesome guy

  • Leno never had any business being allowed to 'perform' in front of an audience.

  • leno is such a tool

  • The sped-up version of the Twin Peaks theme that they play sounds a bit like the Kids in the Hall theme, huh?

    Also, Leno is a douche.

  • 4:16 sarcastic laugh?

  • Definately not a film for 'everyman' but for the true Twin Peaks fans it's definately it's definately worth watching.

  • I love watching how Lynch reacts with various other personalities during interviews. So much fun.

  • i love when he says : beautiful

  • i love lynch interviews, i can understand him! but his movies f with me severely :) but in the best way possible!

    onwards! =)

  • MY MAN

  • Fuck Leno!

  • He is probebly loving the BP spill

  • this man is awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • I LOVE this guy!

He is simultaniously sane and insane! Insanely Sane, if you will.

I saw my first David Lynch film last night, Mulholland Dr. Now I want to go out and buy all of them

God bless you, David Lynch. You insanely sane bastard!

  • @snoogins231 - He's a beautiful film maker, favourite director. Elephant Man is the most beautiful film I now

  • @MaxwellsAttourney I don't think so.

  • @MaxwellsAttourney the most overrated movie of all time is called The Godfather

  • @BennyGaberMusic troll.

  • @MaxwellsAttourney hell naw

  • "It's a beautiful thing."

  • David Lynch Is A Dark Original Genius.

  • God he's so hot :O

  • Lynch is just weird for the sake of being weird and all of his followers are just a bunch of cliche, Buddy Holly glasses wearing, pseudointellectual lemmings who only claim to like his movies because they think it makes them sound more profound while they're posing at the coffee house.

  • @TheMarbear81 Well damn, you're probably right. Prizes include: the universe, Ted Danson's penis, and a Whitney Houston CD. Good show, my friend.

  • @TheMarbear81 I resent that. I hate Buddy Holly and i use contacts!

  • laughing at the oil + water comment right now.

  • he's right, i've never seen the twin peaks series, but i still loved the film.. but supposedly it ruins the whole series if you watch the film first..

  • 'When I had my first original thought.' Haha :)

  • rteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeegttttttunyireeeeeeeyyyyyyyyneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuunnnnnnyyyutLOSTHIGHWAY

  • david lynch is a creative mother fucker. Love this guy

  • My favourite director and a pure GENIUS!!!!thank you Mr.Lynch!!!!:)

  • This guy is like almost perfect in terms of talking to someone who really talks about something different every time. I hate people who always talk about the same shit like their relationship and "back in the days." There is so many things in the world, geez. Get off the old shit.

  • Branford?

As in branford marasalis? .... or maybe not, he's playing sax... well, maybe more than one black is called branford

  • So I take it theres absolutely no chance that the bufoon Leno would consider asking him a serious question at any point? Lynch seem to be enjoying it in his easygoing way but it must be strange for an intellectual like him to do such dumb interview shows..

  • @augustusdes Call Lynch an intellectual in his face and he'll laugh in your face. His approach to film was, is. and always will be intuitive, not intellectual. And of course Lynch is enjoying the interview because he knows the show focuses on humor and he's been good friends with Leno for decades.

  • What an incredibly cool guy.

  • a very unique and amazing man

  • i actually remember seeing this when it aired. i love david lynch tons.

  • It's a beautiful thing.

  • this audience is pretty much shit; laughing at all the wrong places.

    @martynpank love that theory x)

  • Comment removed

  • Leno did a really bad job directing this interview

  • @asilvermountzion1983 not to be cynical simon but. GASP!!! LENO DOING A BAD JOB DIRECTING AN INTERVIEW?!?!?! who'd of thunk it?

  • @asilvermountzion1983 you try interviewing a being from another dimension whose intelligence and psychosis are far superior then that of you're own.

  • @asilvermountzion1983 Sorry if this reply seems a little late. I liked the interview. It's an odd mixture of Lynch and his genius(madness?) with Leno and his mainstream dumbed-down humor.

  • Before I die, I wanna talk to David Lynch! F. swimming with dolphins! DL has entertained me, more than alot! I must admit that i) I'm English & ii) I dislike American humour! But DL floats my boat! I want to see everything he has ever done all at once! Looking forward to 'Fire walk with me', Inland Empire', Mullholland Drive' et al. Don't know the name of the new one! One more thing, I haven't got a clue what he's on about! I love it!!!!

  • @martynpank there were some fundraising events for the david lynch foundation .. i,m not sure how much you have to donate . my brother got to talk with him briefly 100$ or something for dinner

  • I will have to pick that book up somewhere. Lynch is like Rock & Roll of the mind...

  • Wow, David should be a stand-up comedian oO

  • his audience is grossly stupid and foolishly rude, hopefully lynch meant them when he was talking about the aunts

  • @brbedel Maybe the head of cheese & turkey enclosed in clay as a head is a reference to Leno! ........actually, I'm beginning to analyse this interview like one of Lynch's films!!!! Lynch is a genius!

  • @martynpank right?! it goes with his 'every detail makes the moment' one thinks

  • @martynpank haha leno cheese head

  • His chin is like an Edam! But not as red!

  • @martynpank busy busy busy

  • @brbedel DL is bonkers! Have you seen the extras on the DVD Inland Empire'? His right hand! OMG, mad as a bag of cats!!! But love him! Respect!

  • Lynch is brilliant and Leno is a dork.

  • fuck david is suave!

  • Lynch and John Ajvide Lindqvist (Let The Right One In) remind me of each other, both in personality and in their work. They should make a film together sometime.

  • @micesmeal I hope you get outta there sometime soon...

  • I think David Lynch knows what he's doing. Like the book thing, he's joking believe me. His humor is deadpan.

  • A man searching for a deeper meaning. Truly awesome.

  • why do the audience clap whenever a geographical place is mentioned?

  • @SaintBlade probably because it's the only thing they can understand throughout the whole interview.

  • i'm pretty sure this is how he got the idea for the laugh track in 'rabbits'.

  • so true!

  • Nah Philadelphia is still a shithole.

  • Audiences are so dumb. All of them. Lynch is a grand master.

  • I have no idea why David plays the idiot here.

  • Lynch is a surrealist, Jay Leno and fans are so mundane, perfect comedy.

Luis Bunuel and Jodorowsky suffer from the same thing, the manisntream can't undertsand them.

  • No one can, that's the point. There is no rational meaning, only emotion. That's the psychology of their symbolism.

  • Mr. Lynch has 48 chromosomes. We are all inferior.

  • @miasma1616 Then he would have down syndrome

  • @miasma1616 Aneuploidy is actually a drawback, most times deadly. So your comment is completely invalid.

    I'm joking LOL

  • @miasma1616 Chimpanzees and gorillas have 48 chromosomes, I think we are superior to those in many ways.

  • @miasma1616 People with down syndrome have a ton of extra chromosomes. Someone get them a camera!

  • I love their rapport. Leno ribs him, but I get the sense of a genuine mutual respect. The drive-in speaker was such as Lynchian gift - Leno pegged him well.

  • can't expect everyone to think the same way. if people don't like something, they don't like it. no one is better than the other because of their tastes in things.

  • Agreed. I adore Lynch's work, but I can see how others might not appreciate it. He's quite the anomaly: an avant-garde auteur who has managed to bring the mainstream to him to some degree. You'd never see his contemporaries on shows like this. Of course the audience reacts with puzzlement and laughter. For someone who hasn't seen his films, he comes across as a real oddball. Of course, this is why we love him. To each their own.

  • hes crazy as hell.

    I

    LOVE

    HIM.

  • a genius surrounded by idiots.

  • My thoughts exactly while watching this.

  • yeah. don't understand why people are laughing at his 'face eaten by ants' creation. really interesting piece of art, if you ask me.

  • Not trying to sound pretentious by putting myself into a category of understanding and knowledge, but when people don't understand something such art(or anything really, not just art) it becomes strange to them and all they really know how to do is laugh it off. Sad, really.

  • Yes, which is the majority of society. close-minded people will shun intelligent things if they are too hard to understand or too obscure, while open-minded people will try as hard as they can to understand them. everywhere i go, people would rather listen to an entire britney spears song or watch an MTV reality show instead of listening to the opening lines of Beethoven's 9th symphony or watching a David Lynch film. sad, indeed.

  • Dude i so agree with you! Ppl i'm around are sooo close minded and insult and critisize (i know i spelt that wrong lol) anything that don't relate to! And they don't even try to understand it. Stubborn ignorance. But i have to say i do like 90s pop music...lol but i enjoy classical too!

  • WONDERFUL !!!!! LOVE HIS WORK!!

  • Hes the most important man in film, my favourite artist.

  • I love DL!!! And TPs!

  • that guy is a little excentric right???

eraserhead didn't like a bit but his others movies r great

  • Eraserhead is great, truly terrifying

  • "It's important that a film is loud." - yeah, except when it's transformers 2

  • I love this dude. Seems like a guy I'd like to share a beer with. Lynch is a class act.

  • you're a fool. Lynch is one of the most straightforward, plain speaking people when it comes to film.

people don't make a lifelong career of brilliant and acclaimed, painstakingly constructed work just to 'be weird.'

you are obviously too shallow intellectually & artistically to grasp that maybe people have different ways of looking at the world.

one wonders how compelling you'd be on national television, when your comments on a youtube video are so obviously one dimensional.

  • @spacebat28 your amazing

  • @joinjoyjoy YOU ARE! xo

  • @spacebat28 unnecessarily using big words to make yourself seem like you know what you are talking about more than someone who uses smaller words and makes grammatical mistakes when really you two probably have an equal understanding of a subject isn't impressive. It's really an attempt to get white points and be individual.

Besides that I agree with you, David Lynch is a great artist though I think he is one weird mother fucker.

  • @Shickin55 sorry dude, those are the words i use to express what i'm trying to say. ridiculing someone for being literate seems pretty lame.

  • @spacebat28 @spacebat28 so those words were the first that came to your mind you didnt think of bigger words to make yourself sound smart? you dont know what lame is you are the apitimy of lame

  • @spacebat28 so those words were the first that came to your mind you didnt think of bigger words to make yourself sound smart? you dont know what lame is you are the apitimy of lame

  • @spacebat28 agreed with you, until you used the term 'one' to refer to yourself. I'd be willing to bet your one of those faux intellectuals I see at indie film houses wearing a beret and stroking your chin whilst staring intensely at the screen.

  • @zehrinteressant haha dude i'm a total tobacco chewing hick. i maybe go to 'film houses,' [which i call 'movie theatres'] twice a year. just because i use proper grammar doesn't make me a 'faux intellectual.'

it's dangerously stupid to rely on stereotypes of people. be warned.
