PrideFest in Harrisburg was today, and I swear I stopped every Silent Witness I saw. There were a small amount of protesters, and one of them stood right at the entrance screaming through a megaphone. The Silent Witnesses did a great job!!!
I was surprised that the protester was able to use a megaphone the whole time. Some areas have rules that require someone to have a permit before they can use amplified devices, otherwise they could be "disturbing the peace." Obviously, the parade is already noisy, but since the protesters weren't part of the parade, they would need their own permit according to my understanding of these sorts of laws.
Regardless, the silent witnesses seem like a great way to counter protesters such as these.
Thank you all for your great work. I attend every year and have an unfortunate tendency to want to engage the hyper-Christian hate-mongers that infest the streets around events like this. Silent Witness has helped me many times to get through the barrage of bile they spew onto the passers by armed with only a smile and an umbrella. I don't know how you do it, the patience of Job I suppose. Please know that your kindness and the selfless contribution of your time are greatly appreciated.
Great video! I am so grateful for what these people do. I knew about these Evangelical protestors at Pro-Choice marches, but this was a gratifying experience as I watched the Chief of Police viewing those hate mongers from our side of the road. Can you imagine the Religious Police of Iran or Saudi Arabia beating us. It was an impressive show for the Capital of Pennsylvania, Hugs, Cerise Richards
Awesome! Your work is very much appreciated. The creators of this group (Husband and Wife) are awesome, caring people. If only there were more Alana's and Blaize's out there, the world would be a much better place!
Silent Witnesses are angels sent from heaven to help us in our battle for equality and recognition as merely equal human beings deserving of the same rights AND responsibilites as everyone else.
Actually, during my shift as a silent witness, the Silent Witness team caused a total of THREE (3) protestors to leave. Our efforts yielded some great results. They left and, therefore, people were able to enjoy the great music and excellent, open and freindly atmosphere. My girlfriend and I went in to the PrideFest, after Silent Witnissing, and had a great time. We're looking forward to PrideFest '08!
Even though I don't support the gay lifestyle, I think the silent witnesses are great. Live and let live!

Love the concept, hope this comes to be a very popular organization. We need more people willing to kill hate with peace and silence.
