  • holly crap !!! This shit is hilarious !!!!

  • Thumbs up if The Big Box or Cinema Snob brought you here.

  • Orgasm at 0:04 HAHA

  • Now all I think of is Brad Jones when I hear this

  • aaahhh siii !!!! como olvidar al sujeto que tenia que conectarse en un enchufe o algun aparato electrico para recuperar sus poderes :) :) :) jajajajaaa y su amiguito que le hacia todo era CURSOR !!!!

  • Brilliant ! Happy childhood.

  • Ahhh the memories.

  • that guy could have created any thing why did he create a man

  • cursor loves boobies, like me :D

  • this is probably the only case of a sidekick being more popular than the main hero in Superhero history.

  • They should do this again!!

  • Did they steal the title font from AIRWOLF?!

  • hoe long did automan take to recharge..what is the lux output on that electronic body..is automan really carbon neutral as he claims ?.

  • This was actually a good show. Too bad it didn't last

  • Bad special effects have become sentient and walk freely! Imagine if this were real and he was still around, looking all 80's in 2011, retired and slowly loosing his glow.

  • I got Chuck Wagner's autograph as a kid at the Carl Casper auto show. Automan autograph at the auto show. Facepalm.

  • @mfnd502 Lucky bastard jeje

  • I'm more of a Standardman myself.

  • Friendly Neighborhood Tron

  • Automan , For people who really love "Tron-like" graphics

  • Un gran robo a Tron!

  • Le ponemos un par de Leds Azules a la moto y a ver que pasa

  • The old tv shows were the best shows simply

  • Tron the sitcom?

  • This is why I love Youtube. I can re-live being a kid again when TV was brilliant, we had classics such as this and you didn't have to ring in to select the crap you wanted to see next week, which was guaranteed the Xmas no1 before even being selected.

Reality TV sucks and is easy TV hence it sells well. In the 80's it would never have got air time with all the great shows that were on.

  • Fantastc

  • Who would have thought that Cursor would become the biggest star of that series. I couldnt post this message without him. Thanks, Cursor.

  • I wanted Automan's Electric blue suit. Still do!!! lol

  • @RussinTirnaNog I feel the same way about the car, lol

  • @psylentknight I thought that came with the suit. Buy one get the other free. ha ha ha

  • @RussinTirnaNog we'll find a way to go half on it, somehow :D

  • @psylentknight every second day and every other Sunday???

  • I wonder if Tron inspired this series.

  • @Steve10578 I think it's pretty obvious that it did. I remember watching the pilot episode when it first aired!

  • @amaxamon - Well, what with the new Tron film, I would not be surprised if they remake this series. The wonders of glorious CGI and all.

  • Man, I am a huge 80's tv fan but this looked shit.

  • Was this the show where he had the ability to change street lights from red to green?

I remember something like that from my youth.

  • 0:43 - 1. why isnt the glowing heart over her face, instead it's over her boobs? 2. why does the glow from the glowing heart make it look like the bikini disappeared? 3. why didn't i notice all of this when i used to watch it fervently as a kid???

  • reply me what years was this show aired

  • @elgrande77 - look it up on imdb.com fool. there's also google...

  • @elgrande77 in england it was on tv saturday early evening in 1985..maybe 1984 but think 85.

  • I use to love this show! Curser was my fav he could make anythig he was like a green lantern ring haha.

  • Oh Cursor, you wag.

  • Totally 80s fer shurrrrr!!! ;)

  • At least the car was kinda cool.

  • come on guys its Chuck Wanka.. I mean Wagna. what a guy

  • I used to watch reruns of this as a kid. WTF

  • Robert Lansing. Gary Seven from Star Trek TOS episode "Assignment Earth" as Lt. Jack Curtis

  • some dudes around my area have started putting the same kinda light strips on their Ford Escorts : \

  • All Uk viewers.Do keep check on the channel Bravo. As I watched Automan around 3 years ago. They might re show it some time. If only the folk who chose what to put on tv actually came on this site. They would see that viewers long for a return of the 80s type of programs, with great writers, themes, action, and great actors who made the shows really special. Let us hope that all the USA programs do get shown on free digital channels in the UK. then every one can enjoy them.

  • This show looked fake even when it aired. I'm a die hard 80's fan and I've used to watch these shows in early 90's, during my childhood but to be honest, this show lack badass-ness and it never appealed to me.

  • I suddenly feel an overwhelming urge to pick up the phone and order the latest deal from Vick's Big Box! XD

  • I swear the theme song has been used in more self-help seminars then Desi Arnez, Jr appearing in movies.

  • When the hell was this on? I have no recollection of it whatsoever... Did they even make more than one episode?

  • this show sucked

  • How popular would a tv channel be that showed nothing but 80's shows like this?

  • @Apophisguard they have a channel like that, its called the 'retro-channel'....but they never play this show...

and that sucks, coz this show is great!

  • @rformidable Is that in the US? I've never seen it in the UK. We have Bravo channel which used to show a lot of 80's stuff like Airwolf, A-Team & Knightrider etc, but never Automan!!!

  • @Apophisguard yeah, in north america..same thing like the bravo channel over there..

i think the show only lasted for maybe 2 seasons though, coz knight rider came along and kicked his ass bad...lol

  • @Apophisguard LOL. I imagine the cost of the sfx were astronomical back then also.

  • @Apophisguard Hey dood. Automan did show in the UK. I believe around the early 80s. So if you are not in your 30s, then prob wouldnt of seen it. It was on roughly the same time as manimal.(the bloke who could turn in to animals. Later on he was in the BBC program Casualty as Dr Harper. Sadly died around a year ago) Both programs were on ITV. I think they got the chop from the net works as more newer stuff was fast approaching from the great USA writers. Like The Fall Guy, Knight rider. etc.

  • @Rob1992SJA I know bud, I didn't say I hadn't seen it. I did see it when it was first aired and loved it. What I was saying was that we need a purely 80's channel to show these things again. I remember Manimal with Simon McCorkindale also and The Fall Guy - all great stuff.

  • "LUCY!!!!"

  • i loved how he'd drive his car around corners really tight, so the other cop kept smacking his face against the window. great stuff.

  • @2morowMan: My favorite part of the show! lmao

  • @2morowMan I was so hooked on this show because of the way he took corners. Can you say major whiplash? :)

  • @2morowMan I know. Oh man I loved this freaking show.

  • "When I fall in loooooove

    It will be foreveeer"

  • I remember way way back during the summer when the tv stations would create major build up to the new fall line up shows, and this was one of the shows i couldnt wait to see lol. many of the shows are on the list.

  • The best shows on tv always get cancelled and then they never come out on dvd.

  • This show was so awesome to me.

  • i think this barely made one season if im correct

  • zweeeeeowww!

  • Ok did anyone else notice that cursor @0:40 makes the girl in the calendar topless! who said computers weren't made for porn eh!

  • Comment removed

  • automusic ...diggadiggadiggadiggadoogadoo, pew pew, pew pew, turn to camera and laugh, do dee do dee DOOOOOOOOWEEEP! Ha, 80s, eh?

  • is this show on dvd and how many seasons did Automan run for because I would like to buy it.

  • If cops were really as desperate and insane as tv and movies portray them, the world would have been lost to chaos a long time ago.

  • the 80's sure liked supercars and super vehicles, what was up with that? lol

  • The show is among the 10 or 15 worst shows ever, joining the likes of "Pink Lady & Jeff." It was a rip-off of "Tron."

I can understand Desi Arnaz, Jr. being in something this stupid and maybe I can see Robert Lansing ("Four-D Man") in it, but how did Gerald S. O'Loughlin ("The Rookies") take this role?

  • never heard of this one

  • Elle était sympa cette série tirée de Tron à l'époque (FUCK !!!! I AM ONLY ALONE ON THIS BLOG)

  • this was/is one of the most cool things ever!

  • used to love this years ago...ha ha yes it is a piss take ov tron but still nostalgic...im 39 lol. excellent

  • Haha! Looks like Tron!

  • who could ever forget this? Cable tv re ran this in the 1990's

  • What's more 1980s - the tone of the theme or the fact that they actually gave credit to the comical non-human entity in here?

  • 80's Dan's seal of approval!

  • LOLY

  • dezi arnaz jr...is that Lucille Ball's kid?

  • @baltzley11 Yes it is!

  • I used to watch this when I was younger, but it seems so silly now.

  • Heather McNair was hot!

  • Now that i look at it this was clearly a Tron / Buddy Cop rip off but i guess i was too young to realize it at the time. There was no way this show could last the special effects were way too expensive for TV.

  • Say what you want, the best character on the show was, is and always be CURSOR. That horny b*****d always make me laugh.

  • wasn't there a helicopter too?

  • Tron wanna be ass show! But, I liked this show, so I can't talk too badly about it. In the mid eighties, there were a lot of shows that were a lame cop off of some movie. Guess that TV was trying to grab hold of some of the success that those movies had. Unfortunately for the studio that produced them, those shows had a short shelf life, lasting a little more then 1 or 2 seasons (and some folded in the first season). Oh well for them, and this was a nice little trip down memory lane:)

  • More 80's cheese for Brendan!

  • I always loved Automan much more then Knight Rider.

  • I am glad this show is over. But then, I am glad most of the 80's are over

  • I want that car!

  • holly shit!! I remember this!!! cooooolllll!! it's been ages!!

  • Anke se è vecchiottoXD

  • What ...A.....Fuuuuuuuuuuuck is this XDXDXD?????

  • Wowwww...I SO remember this show, it was awesome!

  • Totally agree with scruff....nasty, brutal, aggresive reality TV shows have completely killed off ENTERTAINMENT. Thats why i hate 90percent of current remakes. They make everything so damn dark and brooding and POINTLESS. Whatever happened to the humor and wit and fun aspect of the originals? Maybe its also because tatooed, musclebound goons with man breasts and massive butts masquerading as actors have replaced class and talent.

  • @jeevanirajiv But Arnie stopped making movies...

  • @jeevanirajiv Gotta agree with ya. I'm re-watching the old A-Team series and it's great. This was when good guys were good guys, bad guys were bad guys, men were men and women were nervous! None of the 'realistic' got-emo-baggage from bad childhood, gotta-sleep-with-my-partner, violence-in-the-home, team-member-betrays-the-team crap we see these days. It's depressing and boring! Give me good old fashioned heroes like the A-Team any day! And to think the A-Team is mild compared to the shows now!

  • fukkin clasiko

  • Now this was on of my favs as i was growing up. Not like todays dumass shows that have no lessons to learn on reg. tv stations.

  • The music is cool.

  • I always wondered who played Cursor

  • @EmperorMarcusNovius: Can you say, 'Ain't gonna happen' (at least not with Blu-Ray?)

  • Bring this shit back and make him a Murcielago!

  • Velha escola :) uma das minhas séries preferidas dos 80's juntamente com "V" batalha final

  • Auto man, air wolf, knight rider, street hawk, buck rogers, battlestar gallactica , a team, samurai sunday, spectreman, and miami vice were my favorite shows back in the 80's! those were definitely the good ol days!

  • Despite all the special effects, take note of the really embarrassingly horrible fade at 0:53 as he transforms to Automan. Apparently he also moves about 3/4 of a foot, time of day, film exposure and cloud coverage transforms when he transforms into Automan. This is probably where some recording of film exposure and decent blocking could have resolved that situation.

  • Never let anyone say you have a stupid name, Desi Arnaz Jr.

  • Y'know, Glen A Larson really should do I deal ala Stephen J Cannell to get some of these short-lived shows out on DVD. I have Cannell's Prime Time Crime set, which compiles four of his short-lived shows in full with sample eps of his better-known programs. Surely Manimal and Automan (which I haven't full episodes of since I was like five years old) are well and truly overdue for DVD treatment, and a multi-series set would be a great way to do it.

  • my 1st grade teacher asked "what is your name?".I said "my name is auto mannnnnnn!!!"

  • Never did get to watch any of the episodes when first aired back in 1984,but do remember the preview commerials.

By the way, that actress "Heather McNair" looks like the '80's,"Tracy Lords".For you guys who know who she is... ;)"wink-wink"

  • This was some fun memories. Tronmania!!

  • Great show...Now we got Snookie?

  • TV exec 1: "Wow, that Tron movie was great."

TV exec 2: "Hey, let's rip that off and turn it into a TV show!"

TV exec 1: "Wut, no way man, that would cost us a fortune to make an all-electronic digital world every week."

TV exec 2: "You're right. Hey, I got it! Let's do a buddy cop show, like you know, Simon and Simon or Hardcastle and McCormack. Our Tron rip-off character can be one of them! Plus, we can make up shit like Tron cars and Tron helicopters."

    TV exec 1: "Genius!"

  • @wikkedsensation you really should try to get laid more often seriously

  • @wikkedsensation

    ./reply/output post:

Check the production credits. Donand Kushner and Peter Locke, the operating producers of "Tron," were also producers of Automan. It is not "ripping it off" if the same people made both.

    End of Line...

  • @wikkedsensation Producer: lets use a celebrity's Kid..Desi Arnaz Jr..to bring in the ratings..we can't go wrong.

  • @wikkedsensation U know... Actually TRON and AUTOMAN had the same producers...

  • @wikkedsensation and in the end, Automan got Derezzed by Clu.

  • @wikkedsensation - Hey that show Knight Rider is so popular, what can we do to copy it? Oooh, I know, let's change the car to a motorcycle, oh and we'll get Tangerine Dream to do the theme song!

  • @wikkedsensation LMAO, didn't remember that show back in the 80's. It seems like the TV execs wanted to do that I guess.

  • @wikkedsensation Did that happen in real life?

  • oh those ope ning tunes from the 80's just keeps our motors running

  • i miss it is tron look on it

  • Wish they put this show on DVD.

  • I loved Automan from my childhood.

    It is nice movies.

    All children loved it.

  • ANyone knows of this TV show called "The Exile" shown in 1991 and ended that year also? It had an episode called "The girl from brazil" .

  • I got it , its the wizard

  • There was a show in which there was a little scientist. Actually he was a midget and used to invent unique inventions. Does anybody remember it. I think that series is also of the 80s

  • @sipraomer

Hi! The show you're talking about was called "The Wizard". Hope I was of help!

  • Damn i miss the 80s.......tv shows, movies, saturday morning cartoons, fashion, music and oh yes even atari!!!!

  • Brilliant, i can finally prove too everyone this was'nt just a figment of my imagination. was beginning to doubt my own memory for a while there.lol.

  • @1974gkar dont worry dude i thought id dreamd this since i was 6 now im thirty and it turns out its real sooo happy

  • The world needs more people called Chuck

  • I loved that frickin' car!

  • @ArmsHeldOut so did i.....i wonder what kind of car it was, possibly a Lamborghini?

  • @scyduckzard2007: Yes, it was a Lamborghini Countach.

  • @Neville6000 DUDE, that was one SERIOUSLY SWEET car!!!

  • @Neville6000 That's been my favourite car since....forever, and I still don't know how to pronounce it's name properly lol

  • How did this only go one season?

  • @qmanbooks maybe because of all the helicopters, airplanes, and high fuel gas guzzlers they used on each show. probably got so expensive that the network people decided it wasn't worth it to refuel all the vehicles used in the show

  • OMFG when I talk to people about this show they look at me as if i'm nuts great to see some of it here!!!

  • I used to watch this Tron ripoff as a kid all the time.

  • @74brooklynboi Its not a rip-off, its a homage ;)

  • @EEWW2006 You know what you're right and I take my words back because I do remember as a kid I was just waiting for another Tron movie or a TV series and this was the closest thing besides having the Tron games on the Intellivision. :P I loved this show. Of course my father thought it was corny but watched it with me anyways. I know he enjoyed it.

  • @74brooklynboi Well with Tron:Legacy just around the corner you will not have long to wait!

    FLYNN LIVES!

  • @EEWW2006 I could hardly wait. I pray it's going to be just as good as the first.

  • My name is automan......

  • WTF IS THIS!? How come I never heard about that :O

  • is cute very cute cool and nice perfect

  • oh man are you fucking serious, this starred DESI ARNAZ JR ? i used to love this show as a kid and my dad hated it... but i never in a million years could have guessed DESI ARNAZ JR was in it.. fuckin brutal.

  • love this show!! watched it when i was a kid! love the car! Yes, today's shows are boring...... 80"s rock!!!

  • lol, never saw that in german Televison

  • This used to remind me of TRON too and it's why I liked it so much! Awesome. :)

  • Thank heavens for the 80's! Nowadays that little spark critter would've gotten slapped with a sexual harassment suit for what he did to that lady near the end.

  • Comment removed

  • Looked alot like Tron. Today's shows blow. Reality manure and stuff like Lost which is just impossible to follow. Like Saturday morning cartoons and animation in general, good shows are ancient history!
