Hey there Banjo, I noticed (in another video)this guy can also move people thru a chi tackle without touching them lmao...
look it up yourself- The Fighting Techniques of Pa Kua Chang - Jerry Alan Johnson
I'm gonna have to say with 100% conviction: ^BS football tackle > chi bolt any day...
PS-I dont practice bagua , but I have been doing Wing Chun for more than a several years now and have dabbled in , Pak Mei, and Lung Ying for a short time as well and understand the cultivation of Chi.
@DMFist The video you mention shows higher level skills. Don't be too quick in dismissing kungfu of any kind as BS. All Chinese kungfu is designed to kick ass; and all of the styles -without exception- do so with a variety of methods. Whatever style you like, study it to its highest level. In modern times, with so many good books, videos and teachers available, study more than one style. And above all, learn qi gong so that you have power in any style you choose. Good luck in your research.
The higher level of kung fu that you speak of as demonstrated by this guy above does NOT exist. Skills of this type have always proved to not work against unwilling participants. Sure he can move his students with his chi or any other willing participant that chooses to belive in this BS. There are no real
life applications for this Chi Knockout technique in any self defense or combative enviroments. I hope none of his students try these techniques in a real life situation!
I do practice chi gong , and this is not a quick dismissive statement. It is indeed quite the opposite , as it has been thouroughly researched and has always been dismissed as ineffective. There are a ton of these guys on the net, do your research and please do not fool others or,yourself with these Chi Knockout techniques.
@DMFist Maybe you will find aikido methods to your interest since they make use of throwing without touching. One should study kungfu with open eyes because there are many subtle things that are too easily missed. No need to argue, just be Mindful.
@banjobilly Kung Fu is the skill one shows through the skills one learns. So you can have great Kung Fu even if you don't know martial arts. Tiger woods has great Kung Fu in golf, Rob Thomas has great Kung Fu in singing, ect. Western people just mistranslate it when they were exposed to early Chinese martial arts.
@banjobilly if I'm not wrong, "Ox tongue" have 2 meaning
1. The style of palm, because all of the finger closed, people called it so to differentiate it from the dragon palm, for eg.
2. The unique feature of Baguazhang. It started from the story from when Tung Hai Chuan (creator of baguazhang) went around, he saw a cow eating a kind of thick and saw-leaf grass, but still its tongue was OK. Legend says Tung himself can block an break a sword bare-handed without hurting his palm.
@zero061192 The most obvious use of the Ox Tongue Palm is as a piercing palm or a snake fist. But it has other secrets that you can find merely by placing your thumb at the line between the middle and ring fingers to make the Ox Tongue Palm. A strike with an Iron Palm or a Dragon palm spreads the bones of the palm apart. But with an ox Tongue Palm the flesh at the base of the palm is thickened and fattened like the tongue of an Ox. This padding is used to strike in a circular, licking manner.
very nice video, i've been looking for a teacher for some time and am starting with videos instead. Bear seems to be that animal for me. thank you your time. beautiful system.
I noticed this instructor called the palm position Ox Tongue.. I was under the impression that the palm style of Yin Bagua was the Ox Tongue.. this looks like a Tigers Mouth to me, which I believe came from the Hua lineage? Am I mistaken?
Lineage is less important than application. Ox Tongue is a palm technique, not so much a palm shape. It doesn't smash or slap the opponent so much as it "licks" him. It uses a circular striking method like getting licked by a cow or by an ox tongue. So, it strikes and "licks" at the same time creating a kind of striking push that slightly licks as it hits.
@JimVidz Forms can have different names in different styles. The Yin style palm seems to be more of a snake palm; it can slide in without the thumb getting caught on clothing or body parts. And yet, it can be called Ox tongue when the palm is used to strike with a licking motion, like an ox licking some salt. But it also has a secret striking method that is taken from the dragon style. So, call it what you wish.
A football tackle works great if you are trying the "beat somebody up" and your victim doesn't know how to kill you. But against a Ba Gua Chang player or other internal styles of kungfu experts, a football tackle would get you a brain concussion or a broken neck for your troubles. In football, your methods are great but in martial arts all you would be doing is offering your head and stretching your neck to the butcher. Nerds on computers are not the same as nerds in kungfu.
Ba Gua Chang is one of the most difficult arts to learn. It seems so simple that it seems like there is nothing to it. But proper stepping and body alignment are extremely difficult. Just to learn the moves and postures, one might think that there is little to learn but transforming yourself into a single moving unit is beyond what most martial artists can accomplish. Also, like the other internal martial arts, without qi you have nothing. So, finding your Qi is a vital stage in the practice.
my teacher, He was my teacher, went there to learn Bagua nickname for the syle. I learn little, so go back to it.. learning things at shen dao temple.

@JimVidz The Ox Tongue Palm can open into a tiger's mouth. The hands are alive, not frozen into only one shape.

Hello, what's the diference between pakua and kung fu? Thanks, Mara
muktinath 2 years ago
@muktinath nothing, baguazhang (pakua) is a system of chinese martial art, kung fu is a westernised name given to chinese martial arts as a whole.
