Well ive cut the string on th head and the one into the body, put scotch tapeon under the paws for not rolling, and he is great :P the lil hole in the head is not disturbing, and withouth the string of the body the dog can be extend further :) !

I've actually seen the original Slinky Dogs (pre Toy Story) at Cracker Barrel (in the store, not the restaurant... you wouldn't want stray Slinky Dogs sniffing at your food), though I don't remember how much they cost.
