I'm a Houstonian for 40+ yrs;it's obvious why Parker won. She's been a good councilperson & comptroller for years. She didn't run a "vote for me because I'm gay" campaign.All Houston mayors have been Dems since 1982. But the Hispanics here are more conservative than you'd guess.Bush showed Dems Tejanos can't be taken for granted in Texas. I know people who voted for Obama to "make history." Chances are lots of them won't show in 2010/2012. We'll still have Repub. Gov & Senators in 2010.
