  • Excellent. This is on the same eccentric plane as Eugene McDaniels' "Headless Horsemen of Apocalyse." "Li'L Brown" borrows the LP cover art concept of The Band's "Music from Big Pink," but that's where the comparison ends. This LP is riveting, creative & infectious. Fusing "Louie, Louie" with "Ode to Billie Joe," wow. It sounds silly yet it works. I'm not a big lover of funky music but these musicians & singers are ingenious here. Sly & the Family Stone dodged a musical bullet with these guys.
