  • Hello there you may recall that i got a virgin pendolino last year

but i have a problem, i forgot to change a siding and mt train crashed,

and the couplings on the carriages broke, would you happen to know where i can get some new ones or do i have to buy new coaches?

if you could help me i would rally appreciate it

    Sincerely

    Rspike462

  • @rspike462 1st try Hornby themselves, other wise do a search on the net for Hornby spares. Various spare parts retailers out there, so a search on the net should bring up a few. Abiegales, East Kent just 2 i can think of. See also adverts in the model press. As for the coaches same places as where you'd bought your pendolino & any model railway items. Cheers.

  • does the pendolino run n the smaller track or the thick track

  • @midgetman1998 Can you be more specific please?

  • How do you get the Cab lighting?

  • @ishan99b No cab lighting on the pendolino. What you see here is leakage of light from the upper head light. So in a way it acts like an interior cab light.

  • @ay76 Oh becuase on DC mode there's no cab lighting?

  • @ishan99b No cab lighting on DCC either.

  • dcc fitted or dcc ready?

  • @London667568 it's the DCC ready version. I've fitted two standard Hornby decoders in it. Cheers.

  • @ay76 How did you get the lights in or does it come with that then.

  • @London667568 Lights are standard fit on alot of models these days. This comes with working lights.

  • sorry i was not ment to comment on you profile/ video send gtacrusher123 a message because my brother was using my laptop and he didnt sign me out and i will tell him about he has used my acount and not his.

  • @F3ardaymark No worries, cheers.

  • Comment removed

  • @F3ardaymark Your looking at least a foot long for each unit i guess. If you look on the hornby website, it lists specs on the pendolino, such as length of each unit etc.

  • @darren55555555 Thank you.

  • Hey this is great i love the vids u upload.

What is the black box in the back ground at the end of the vid?

Please can you do another video on what the track looks like now?

  • @knexpert2 Thank you. This layout has now been dismantled, & i'm in the process of rebuilding a brand new layout...a bit on the slow side like. Usually thing work & family life taking more time etc. How ever, there is update video's on the current new layout, with the next update at the end of the year. Cheers.

  • awsome

  • @oxon1 Cheers.

  • Are you using formal transition curves?

  • @beyondDCC I use the "Tracksetta" track templates ( they do many different radius templates). I then make the transition curves to suit. Cheers.

  • realistic set at a realistic speed

  • @mattbozi89 Thank you.

  • how's the layout coming along? it's been a while since i've seen anything from it...

  • @svinehunden Hi mate. Very slow going or more like ground to a halt. Work & family comitments have taken over. Next update will be later this year, however. Could do with a 48 hour day!!

  • how long is the pendolino with full 9 cars on

  • The driving trailers are 315mm long, the coaches are each 335mm long. Cheers.

  • great;)

  • Cheers.

  • Hey

I had this train but it didnt work cos it was dcc fitted and i was using dc. I finally found one (the whole train set) £100 bargain (amazon) The one i had b4 was 390012 Virgin Star but the new one is 390045 101 squadron. Which is yours? If it's the 1st one i think your layout would look great with 2 pendo's.!!!! and you could sell the rest of the stuff in the set if you didnt want it.

    Keep the videos comin!!! :D

    Weefrazify

  • Thats a cool layout man. I used to collect a lot of model trains but i dont bother so much these days but Im going to start collecting them again sometime. Im going to completely rebuild mine eventually. :D

  • Is the train fun to drive around the layout? Because my mum is getting me a virgin pedolino for christmas. I have the old virgin train and the harry potter hogworts express. I am going to make my own layout and put all the trains together :D

  • Yes, fun to drive :-) Just make sure you go for the biggest radius curves your space on your layout allows. Cheers.

  • ok thank you :D

  • Cheers.

  • Hey

I recently bought the pendolino dcc fitted for a dc layout (no dcc ready left got it for sm price as dc)

Anyway when I put it on my track it was a bit dodgy. The directional lights are always the same colour ie red at both front & back or white @ both front and back.

Also sometimes it goes in the wrong direction for a sec and then goes in the right direction.

    Do you have any advice?

I asked on forums and even emailed the shop but no reply and u seem like an expert

    Cheers

  • MMMM...1st thing is, if your layout isn't powered & under control by a DCC controller, i'd change the controller over to a DCC one. That way you'll have full control over the lights, & the pendolino will run properly. The other thing is how clean is your track?? If you drag your finger along the rail top's, does it leave a black line on your finger?? If so it'll need cleaning. I think the pendo should be okay running on DC, but i'd recommend having a sperate powered track for DCC.Cheers.

  • mey m8 can you please make a video of your pendolino and apt together please thanks

  • I'll see what i can do, need to replace the broken compact camera 1st though.Cheers.

  • god i love model trains :D

  • :-) Cheers.

  • I'm American, and yet I want a Virgin train set like that very badly, you simply can't ignore the Virgin trains.

  • Hope you get the set/ pack soon. Virgin pendolino looks pretty good in it's current livery. Cheers.

  • How did you get the nine carridges, and if the curve was more straight than curved would it still tilt?

  • I bought the 4 unit pack, then the other coaches to make up the 9 car rake. Even if the curve wasn't as tight, it would still tilt, but not as much. Cheers.

  • love trainsets always wanted 1 i think this vid has just made me go buy 1 thx alot :D

  • Cool. Let me know which one you go for, regards.

  • Beastage i want 1! i have a keetle tho

  • Go for it. You could always say the steam is on a charter train or tour. Cheers.

  • i would love a pendolino but since it tilts going round the bends it would hit the tunnel portel on my upper layout

  • Would you be able to say do any alterations to the tunnel, so you'd be able to run one at all? Regards.

  • not really i have put a small house beside the tunnel on one end and the door to my shed is on the other end the is no space to make it longer and i dont want to make it smaller

  • Nice camera work there.

  • Many thanks.Cheers.

  • 5* it looks good and it will look even better on your new layout

  • Many thanks.Update video to be done shortly.Cheers.

  • brilliant train i've got the hornby pendilino but i've broken the lights on the dummy car after a big crash lol

  • Cheers.Heck that sounds bad with the crash.Wonder if the wires have broken from the pick ups to the lights??

  • possably because the lights only work when moving slowly on a sharp turn.

  • Check the pickup's as well, they may of of damaged in the accident.May just want bending back, just a thought any way.Cheers.

  • ok thanks mate.

  • can the pendolino run on 2nd radious track

  • Yes but try to go for bigger radius curves for better running if you can.Cheers

  • so in full scale they would have 9 cars right, im looking forward to purchasing one of theese and would like to know how I can run most realistically, as i dont live in the uk, i cant just go to the railway and look

  • I'll be going to the WCML to film the real things in about 3 weeks so it should be able to help you.I'll see what I can do to help you.Cheers

  • oh thanks man your great, if really gonna do that for me, ill be adding you as friend and sub to you. i think their full lenght is 9 coaches

  • run run it gonna run ova u lol nice vid m8

  • I thought you were had the camera mounted on another train! Great video.

  • Thank you.I actually was holding(well trying to hold it steady)the camera about 1" above the base board whilst walking backwards,& trying not to hit the other stock on the layout.I'd love to

get one of them on board mounted camera's.Could have a lot of fun with that.Cheers.

  • i have a 8car

  • Great. You only need one more for the full set.

  • i no but im buying a 66 now

  • Hi, which 66 are you going for??

  • DRS 66407 YEAH!

  • Nice one, don't forget when you get it send us a video cheers

  • o i will be filming it dont worry

  • Great.I'm looking forward to it.

  • Thanks. Not easy walking backwards holding the camera 1/2" off the base board & trying not to catch the other stuff on the layout. But I think it came out ok.Hopefully it's caught the Pendolino's tilting action.

  • u did a grat job at flmin and that train is so cool
