  • @phangirl1986

    Haha totally agree!!

  • they matched the child actress for christine pretty well...

  • Poor Erik, indeed. Phillipe is nothing but a pompous prick. . . .Nothing kind of him but such a player he is!!!

  • Sorry, but I occasionally skip this part when I watch the movie... too much Phillipe. However I DO like watching it because ya get the thrill when the presence of Erik comes back in the movie! :)

  • @shadowdwellerxxx: 1) cool username! 2) if philippe were lesbian, he would still like girls. I think yuo meant to say that Philippe looked GAY.

  • Who sent in the Diamond Dogs? Lol

  • Anyone know the name of the music played on the piano?

  • I think a gondola beats a rowboat any day. so, phantom > philippe. ha!

  • poor Erik! christine goes off questioning her sexuality with some lesbian-looking douchebag she used to be a slave for and leaves Erik all alone XD damn life sucks!

  • Still gets to me every time when she leaves him, he is human. Granted he may not look it but he is and there is no reason not to treat him like a human being with feelings

  • is the song Christine is playing the same song Erik sings to her later on??

  • It's the best film of all films of phantom of the opera.

Do anybody know the song, which christine and Philipe plays on piano and what she sing and her father plays on viola?

  • Bardzo długo szukałem i znalazłem... CUDO!

  • awww, he looks so sad, kinda like a lost kid....... poor erik!

  • maybe if Phillipe was not her childhood friend she mighta liked the phantom darn coincidences

  • poor erik :'(

  • phillipe is an f-tard, a fop and all together just a douche. This Erik is the most canon I've ever saw, he has a heart, he talks, he's nice, he's reasonable and he has a sense of humor.

  • hahaha this is just so delightful after seeing the cartoon version :P

love it how the children like:NOT TALK

  • Now that little piano part was just so dang cute!

  • If Christine doesnt want Erik can i have him? Please? ;D

  • @livkivi Nope, I called dibs. XD

  • @livkivi , srry, I AM TAKING HIM MWHAHAHAHAH! XD, but meybe we can share....lol

  • @livkivi No, mine. >:(

  • "Oh I've missed you Christine."

....If you've missed her....shouldn't you at least remember her? Phillipe is such a douche-bag... and Christine is such an idiot for choosing him when her true soulmate is right in front of her....

  • I love the song Christine and Phillipe play on the piano. Do you know what it's called?

  • @MissBrassGeek Laissez-moi planter le mai.

  • At the end, his grandmother is treating Phillipe like a dog! xD NO! No, Phillipe! NO!

  • oooooooooooooo there going to do the dooo.... rofl

  • Ok, so I have been searching for this song for a long time now. Thanks for the name of the song! However, I would like to buy it somewhere! Who is the composer? I have looked everywhere! This is such a beautiful song!!!!!

  • Can anybody tell me the name of the song that Christine sang as a child? Thank you!

  • @hvanh84

it's a 17th century French song: "Laissez-moi planter le mai"

  • @dffghuytfvb Thank you! ♥ :)

  • I know! I was totally into the fact that the movie was almost the same, but then this chase scene happens. Literally I was like WTF this makes no sense! Because people think the bad person must die a violent death, can't they just leave Erik alone! I would absolutely die of happiness if they did a movie that stayed true to the book. Our crazy Erik and a blonde Christine! You just don't see her now a days because of the musical. Tish a shame

  • Same here, I thought the exact same thing as you and I was disappointed. But supposedly they had the original ending in the movie (Christine leaving and Erik dying of a broken heart) But audiences didn't like it for some reason. They thought Erik dying of a broken heart wasn't interesting enough so they had him chased by a mob. . . well . . . ya. But there are pictures on google of Lon Chaney lying over his piano, dying, from the original cut and I personally love it! Just a fact for ya :)

  • Oh I know. when i saw the 1925 version i was so excited and then kaputt the end happens and it was like "did you have to do that"

Honestly as far as keeping true to the end of the story (in my mind the most important part) lloyd webbers version wins

  • @Deadlysoprano16 Re: Phantom of the Opera. Did the Phantom in the book actually kill anyone? The movie endings may have had to do with the moral codes of the times, i.e. a murderer could not go unpunished.

  • @TheShirEl Yes he killed joseph bouquet at the beginning. It is also clear that he killed several people during the "rosy hours at masenderan". In persia he was a sort of freak show for the princess who enjoyed watching him kill people.

When the chandelier falls it kills one person who was taking Madame Giry's place after the managers fire her.

It is also possible he killed Count Phillipe but this is not verified. (and personally I dont think he did

  • @Deadlysoprano16 Thank you; it more or less substantiates my guess.

If you are interested in things "Phantom" an interesting adaptation is the 1974 "Phantom of Lot 2" aka "The Phantom of Hollywood". There's only "Phaonto of Hollywood Review Part 1" and 2 here. The reviewer saw fit to pan it, but I enjoyed the original very much at the time. Also: Wikipedia: Phantom of Hollywood.

  • good heavens. her voice was beautiful even when she was a kid(or teen, cant tell). 0_o

  • wow. I'm surprised that they remember each other.

  • I like this version but I hate that no one can seem to just make a movie that corresponds with the book and doesn't make any changes to the storyline itself.

  • Will someone please tell me why they changed Raoul's name to that of his older brother? In the book, Phillipe seems to represent wisdom and experience as a Raoul's childishness and naïveté, so why change the name?

  • 0:41 Erik sucks at hide and seek

    Gerard: You're meant to hide

    Erik: I am hid...

    Gerard: I can see you

    Erik:...o_O

  • Aww poor Phantom. :'(

  • But I love how they show her past, they don't do that in the others (I think). It's really good!

  • Poor Erik!!!!!!!!! I hate this part of all the movies and musicals, poor, poor, unhappy Erik!! :(

  • I know... I always feel like I'm going to cry....

  • What sweet a melody this song has!It is a pitty it does not exist in record or a CD...I love this scene of memories with the kids. The girl looks alike older Cristine!...And this walk trough the wood in the little lake.Like a romantic drawing!

  • Christine was sooo beautiful as a child...what happened!?

  • Raoul is not sweet in the book, he's described as 'feminine' and acts like a ten-year-old.

  • this isn't raoul though, it's phillippe

  • wats with the can can at the beginning is that like 19th century table dancing

  • Er, guys, quit yelling at Christine and Raoul.

In this version, I may have chosen Erik, I guess, because he's one of the least insane and murderous of all of them. But in the novel, Raoul is sweet and genuinely afraid for Christine, who is genuinely afraid of Erik. In the book she's not really in love with him, but is fond of him and pities him.

I think it's the actress that made Christine look sorta like a bimbo in this version...

  • Rao.......Phillipe is a man whore. xD

  • The song in the video is Laissez-moi Planter le Mai. Unfortunately, there's no record of who wrote it.

It's too bad that the girl singing doesn't enunciate. It would have made it easier for me to recognize the French, which I used to find the name of the song. XD

  • @VoiceOfAnAngel1

Yes so unfortunate indeed; nice song.

But the way she sings dreamingly without vular articulation, i kinda prefer this way.

  • i <3 erik hes so mysterious!!!! not like sissy rao..phillipe!!!!

  • What song is it that is playing all the time? The one that Rao... I mean Phillipe and Christine are playing on the piano!

It's so beautiful and I want the notes to my violin! :D

    Sorry... bad english+morning = Kill me... 8)

  • ahh, so it is not Raoul it is Phillipe.

  • Meh, my friend's name is Erik and he's just like the Phantom Erik.

    Possesive, cruel, and insane. xD

(No offense meant. It's true. <_<)

  • I've known my Erik since elementary school. He's crazy in his own fun little way (then again, so am I XD), but he's a sweetheart!

  • Aww poor Erik =(

  • poor Erik

  • Does anybody know what the song is that Christine is singing as a child?

  • Comment removed

  • Poor Erik!

Christine, can't you tell Phillipe is an idiot? Darn innocent, naive young performers!

    Flashback: Christinella!

  • ugh im sry christine's hair annoys me i wish the hair stylest made it like curls like up but curls -.- im sry its just annoys me so much ...

  • wenever I hear the can can song they play I always think of Moulin Rouge lol "So exciting! the audience will stomp and cheer, So delighting! It will run for 50 yrs!"

  • Whoa, this is the only Phantom movie adaptation I know of that depicts extensive flashbacks of Daddy Daae. Quite a treat.

  • The fact that Christine actually has a conscience moves this up to my favorites. Really.

  • Philiphe is a whore going for the prettiest face/voice.

Never liked the Christine character because she goes with him. Dumb bimbo >:(

  • So well said. He is an absolute fag and didnt like Christine's character much either. Got all the voice but no brains.

  • I kinda think Raoul is going after Christine because they knew each other as children, like in the novel and the musical. But that's just me...

  • "Was your mother a parrot?"

    "Parrot!"

    Love Jacques

  • Day for night shot!

  • Gosh what a terrible thing for Christine to do to Erik, but at least she later felt remorse for going off without, at least, letting him know.

  • I agree with you. Erik, got the shaft. Everyone has already except for Philiphe.
