  • 2000 subscribers? at the end op 08 you had 8000 =o

  • Here I thought I was the only one who had trouble playing this game, Lol. This was full Heartache, haha. The wolverine stage with Juggernaut charging, the Ball of Doom with Gambit, The air situation with storm, the one wrong jump to the tracks in Cyclops stage with kill ALL were IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT!!!

  • ahh this game frustrated the hell outta of me!!

  • Played this game so much n never got close 2 beating it smh, hard for a kid. Guess its time 2 try again

  • great game i used to play all afternoons, great soundtracks...

  • spiderman vs The Shocker hahaha

  • Ridiculous difficult spidermans later stages and gambit stages Fucking BS childhood impossible challenge

  • flawless?!?!?!?! This IS by LJN!!!!!

  • bought this game today, super hard, makes games today look pussy

  • This game was so Effin HARD

  • I hate this game.

I will find and burn every copy and create a virus to destroy every rom of this game no matter what.

  • this game is fun but it can be cheap as hell

  • fuckin LJN

  • I played this shit on SNES when I was 4 years old...

Here I am 15 years later watching someone actually beat the game. I thought it was impossible. I beat the first level for every character, but nothing more than that. THIS GAME WAS HARD!

  • I remember this game used to be so fucking hard

  • this is a good game my favorite is spiderman's and wolverine.it was dumb that they put storm underwater since she controls weather they should have put her in spiderman's shoes and given her one of spiderman's levels same with cyclops he should have been outside not in mines/underground.

  • Im wolverine!

  • FUCK YOU ADS NOBODY LOVES U!!!!!

  • Made by LJN...

  • take a look at the top of your snes cartgrade. the spelled it spiderman xmen acrades revenge

  • Wow somebody actually enjoys playing an LJN game.

  • omg i see the ranbow of shit

  • This game was rather unforgiving!

  • whats the name of a spiderman game for snes where you had to trap doc ock in his device so he could get zapped by it. and where you could get powerup wich summon a random marvel character. im searching myself crazy and i dont know where to look it up anymore

  • @scorpioTNT its called spider man. u could summon members of th fantasti 4. i have thi game, its rather good

  • @scorpioTNT spider-man the animated series, and you could summon the fantastic four

  • Wolverine's level fits perfectly because that IS where Arcade would have placed him. In fact it's probably the most accurate, because Arcade's theme is Amusement Parks, clowns, etc. Its obvious that u are not a comic fan..

  • @jchambers444

Actually not a Marvel comic fan, I grew up with Teen Titans,Batman,Nightwing,Superman and Justice League comics

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Im more of a Marvel fan. But that is what makes the most sense for the character "Arcade"...The level that is most weird is Storm's. Under Water is totally out of place for the entire situation. Overall your review is pretty good. Keep up the good work.

  • please tell whats the name of the song in the background of your review?

  • I love the music in this game!

  • Spider-Man is awesome! Favorite super hero ever!

  • i played this game when i was a kid.

I just tried it again today.

I could get no farther than all those years ago.

  • this game is so hard.

I considered this to be the first LJN Spider-Man trilogy on Sega Genesis and SNES.

Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage was release after that.

Spider-Man and Venom: Separation Anxiety is a sequel to Maximum Carnage.

  • ive owned this game since i was around 10 or so back in the 90's and let me say its one of my favorite videogames of all

time. hard yes but also awesome! SNES

is god to me n this game is on the list to beat before i die. must win for the love of

    the game 5*

  • Wolverine's second level is the hardest one.

  • From J-FryParnell, snes codes gambit has three legs C2CC-A063. gambit turns invisible walking back CB64-09A3. wolverine and cyclops clown water guns cant shoot and grenades launchers cant shoot AA20-DDA7. wolverine is naked DA6A-07A6. Note I invented these codes and this is their first and maybe only post they appear in so game genie heads get your pin and find my other post the get gambit invincible and create level item code.

  • Love this game thank you!

  • lol it's not THAT hard

  • This is an SNES game? Wow I seen NES games that look better than this.

  • Why do i feel like i played this game before but i don't recall

  • BELIEVVVVVVE ME

  • this game blows , the spidey sense sound is so annoying, the controls are are stiff. don't waste your time with this one

  • Can you believe LJN made (or help make) this game?

  • I mastered this back when I had it. The only problem was beaing Juggernaut. That was annoying.

  • Man did this game suck. Back when I was a little kid, I was hugely disappointed when I got it for the SNES, because I was half-hoping/expecting a port of the Spider-Man arcade game. Instead, I got this lame, ugly piece of crap.

  • in wolverines stage the clown in the backround looks like the one from spawn

  • i have this

  • hey i had this game when i was a kid and i loved it

  • yeeee just got it on ebay....cant wait til i get it ya heard me

  • 6/10 because its hard??!?!?

    WTF IS THAT ABOUT?

i mean a game like Battletoad or ikaruga or Double Dragon is good BECAUSE they are difficult correct?

why knock the game's score down because of difficulty???

It had little to no playing issues and that is a sign of a good game.

  • If the difficulty is derived from bad controls, bad level design, or other frustrating aspects, it can certainly be considered a negative aspect. Also, while difficult =/= bad, if the difficulty is so intense that it decreases your ability to enjoy the game, you're not going to enjoy the game as much as others.

  • well then that shouldnt be factored into reviewing the game.

Difficulty shouldnt be factored into how well a game is made or how well designed it is.

If anything, difficulty comes down to preference or opinion rather than fact. Something that may seem difficult to you, may seem easy to me and vice versa.

This Spiderman was well designed and there were little to no flaws in the gameplay. If difficulty was factored in, then all games that are easy and casual would rank the highest.

  • Everything you said is a matter of preference or opinion, thus making your whole comment pointless. Really, though. Read your last comment.

  • really?

last time i checked, i pointed out valid reasons as to why a game's difficulty shouldnt be factored into its grade.

and its true correct? if difficulty was factored, then the easiest and most casual of games would rank the highest no matter what.

and we all know that there are some great games that have difficulty as their pinnacle of enjoyability.

Devil May Cry comes to mind.

  • There are many people who would not play or stop playing a game because it was too difficult. That is directly connected to the enjoyment of that game. I'm sure everyone has experienced that.

  • but that doesnt mean that that particular game should get such a bad score.

no matter how hard a game is, as long as it doesnt have any glaring problems such as graphical glitches, programming errors or just flat out bad controls, the game should not have got a score of 6/10.

likewise, if it was based on enjoyability or first impressions than that over shadows many of games' achievements in terms of gameplay.

  • Like my first comment said, everything about this is a matter of opinion. ESPECIALLY scores.

  • then that score would be meaningless without sufficient reasoning.

whats the use of scoring something if its not based upon a solid foundation and argument?

  • In actuality, all scores are meaningless. For example, I love the DBZ Tenkaichi games and I personally think they deserve an average score of 8.5. Most people however would disagree and give it a 7.0. Many people love the Final Fantasy games and would give all of them like a 9.0. I could never understand why standing and waiting to get hit in a very boring fight would be so entertaining and would personally give games like that a 2.0. I'm exaggerating, but I'm just trying to help you understand.

  • and what are you basing your scores on?

thats what I've been trying to say.

if theres scoring involved, you have to give sufficient reasoning as to why you gave it.

you need to base it upon something other than your own opinion.

(this game sucks because its an RPG and I hate RPGs).

That way you can see that some games that are often over looked or passed on as "BAD" games really arent all that bad.

Most reviewers and scorers do this. They base it on a list of criteria, not their opinion.

  • If I were a reviewer, I would not give a score. By the way, on major gaming sites, reviewers are chosen to review games in genres that they like. For example, they have reviewers that love sports games so they only review sports games. They would never put them to review rpg's because they don't like that type of genre and would give the game a bad score. Scores are based on other games of the same genre. I've bought way too many rpg's because they had high scores only to realize I hate rpg's.

  • theres actually more going on in the professional world of game reviews and journalism but i wont go into that since there would be too much to write about.

  • but thats true, you shouldnt base what you purchase purely on other people's scores.

but if you think about it, your own experience should serve you well enough. But dont be so closed minded about RPGs. just because a game is listed as an RPG, told turn your back on it. Try it out first. Heck, if you can, look for games that ARENT reviewed by most major gaming websites.

There lies the true gems of all games. Games that are rarely touched upon, i believe are some of the best games made.

  • That's why I think scores are pointless. They can misrepresent a game's value.

I know what you mean about games that are in the RPG genre, but are not RPG in the traditional sense that we have come to know RPG's to be. That's why I think the term RPG is a misnomer.

Think about it: Role Playing Game. What game in existence do you know that you're NOT Playing a Role? They tend to say that Devil May Cry has "RPG elements" just because he gains more weapons and abilities as the game progresses.

  • I agree

  • There are actually a lot of reviewers, especially on youtube, that don't even give scores in their reviews. They just talk about what like and what they don't like and state at the end that they don't use a scoring system because it's really just a matter of opinion.

  • nice review. it pretty much articulated all of the frustrations I experienced in my childhood. this game was so hard. i thought it was just me. it was fun, but hot damn i must've repeated stages 124 times before i finally turned it off, just to start over again.

  • Nice to hear someone review a game without resorting to swearing and shouting all the time. Had this game when it came out, it's so hard but still a lot of fun. Good video mate

  • Kudos for putting the game's soundtrack in the review.

  • I remebr this I was like 3 and I couldnt beat it not the first level!

  • those blue blinking things.i think those are like time bombs or something.idr

  • this game is one of the hardest that i have ever played

  • i hate storms levels but loved every bit of the other stages.

  • awesome very informative review! I do think Wolverine's stage seems a bit ironic on purpose. What better to set off an angry little Canadian mutant than to torture him with all that clown crap?! :D

  • Gambit is going to be in the new x-men wolverine movie. Which is going to be cool.

  • fuckin love shocker!!!

  • Can someone tell me... Did I suck at this game, or was it really so fucking hard?

  • ehm, i sucked at it too. i tried really hard until i stopped playing completly...

  • Awesome review

  • You should review Maximum Carnage

    You'd probably love it!

  • that fookin clowny water gun on the wolverine level killed me today ¬¬

  • I used to LOVE this game as a kid, but when I play it now I was like "eeh..." It was mostly the difficulty and it was unfriendly for people short attention span, such as myself, becauseI don't know when it will save the game for you I've only made it past the first stage so far

  • Those who rate on difficulty are pussies. Like Jegudiel. I love this game though it's hard as fuck. I mean god damn I haven't played any good game that's harder than this. I might never fully beat it and that's a first.

  • i would give it a 4 out of 10 for the being extremly hard and well the controls arent all that sharp for me

  • i thought u sounded a lot like stan lee lol

  • I remember this game!I got it when i was a little kid. I always hated the spiderman levels. But i loved the wolverine level,But when i found out i lost so much it said "GAMEOVER" I got so pist.I miss my NES my dad traded it for a PS2 and 2 games for it years ago like when i was 5 or 4

  • I give it a 4 out of 10. because it's unfairly hard. you have NO continues, no passwords or save system! Super Ghouls n' Ghosts has continues! but i respect your opinion.

  • ljn made a decent game?

  • yea i remeber this game spiderman part was easy then it got really hard

  • i hated this game... i was young probaly about 10 when it came out and it was so hard... should give it a second look... "flawless controls" huh

  • When I played this one as a kid, I originally wanted it to play as the X-Men and was annoyed I had to start as Spidey. After a few weeks of playing, I was in love with Spiderman, eventually beating all of his levels, while finding the X-Men characters and levels lack-luster and frustrating. My most hated were Storm, for the same reasons as stated in the video, and Gambit (my favorite of the X-Men), because I couldn't stand how he lobbed his cards.

  • Men, Sega genesis only have 3 buttoms

    when using cyclops

    in sega you cant kick

you only can laser, punch and jump

  • At the title screen i thought spider man was weilding a katana at first.

  • How come the game boy version is so different?

the levels aren't as long and you only need to play each character's level once? no carnage, shocker, or anyone else.

    please explain. thanks

  • wow awsome omg i rember playing this game as a child when i was 3 it really made angry cause it was hard but i was young back then

  • COOL!

  • I really appreciate your reviews without all the swearing junk, keep up the good work bud

  • This game sure as heck was hard, it was fun, but it was very frustrating.

  • Ahh, I remember this game...and how frustrating it was. I seriously don't see how the average gamer could beat the game, it was so difficult and long.

  • cyclops is the self-proclaim leader of the xmen? the hell. Last i recall, Charles xavier aka professor x appointed him as leader of the xmen, storm being second in command under him.

  • Actually the Xmen have 3 Leaders. Old Ruby eyes has command of the Blue Team. Storm is in charge of the Gold team and Xavier is the real leader of the Xmen. Cyclops is like a Lt in command in the field. Even though Wolverine has more experience in Battle then any other Xmen in history. He fought in wars from the late 1800's and WW1 & WW2. Wolvie is the main man. Plus I don't like Summers so I made fun of him.

  • He's field leader of the X-men since Xavier can't walk and taught Cyke.

  • cyclops is kind of a boring leader, that should be wolverine. as a kid no one really wanted to be cyclops, the wanted the clawz

  • bullshit, the reason he doesnt rush into things is because hes a bitch ass boyscout. no balls. fuck his back story i could care less

  • lmao. cyclops is a boring leader? hes one of the most well known leaders in comic books. the reason why he dont rush into battles is because hes a tactician. he rather work out a strategy around a situation, with out causing casualties. wolverine on the other hand, if leading he'll rush the team into a situation and cause many to die, cause hes a idiot. wolverine is the worst character ever. i compare him to poochie from the simpsons. they make him do all these lame things, to seem cool to kids

  • Now cyclops ain't a boring leader, but Wolverine sure as hell ain't a bad character.

  • Eh..I don't remember ever liking this game..Maximum Carnage was where it was at.

  • I had this game, and I hated it with a passion. I was still an avid gamer, but I was too young to play that crud........

  • man!!! knightwing you must not like the genesis to say bad things bout sound and all that

  • the only thing i like bout this game was the music this game had a great soundtrack

  • i can't believe there is a game by LJN that is good

  • crazy ironic....i just randomly thought of this game right now and remember how hard it was for me as a kid and theres a new review up for it...crazy, like im blow away. seriously though i couldnt enjoy gambits stage because of that damn ball, i got to rhino boss once and it was impossible...cyclops and storms stages made me want to kill someone out of frustration.

  • hmm.. i would really like to play this game :p it looks very cool.

and as a big marvel fan as i am. i want it naow xD

    but hard you say? :\

  • it wasn't hard, just really, really cheap. Enemies and enemy bullets are near impossible to avoid so you just end up getting hit over and over. Also, there's alot of tedium because you have to go back and forth to dodge enemy bullets and then shoot or attack them, so it doesn't flow as well as it should. This game is REALLY long for not having a password system, I wouldn't recommend it without a game genie.

  • i remember one of my friends use to own this game on snes, but i hated it, game was pain n the ass

  • happy anniversary! :)

  • good luck with your reviews KW FTW!!!

  • sweet.. I love when you review games I have

  • Another great review kNIGHTWING keep it up

  • ..continuing on from my last comment, the game wasn't all that bad as you pointed out just the difficultly. I completed 2 levels off Spiderman and Gambit stages but never Storms, Cyclops and Wolverine and how the hell did you beat Juggernaut on level 2's Wolverines stage??? Might have to play this game again to finally beat it.

  • Have you beaten it yet? I just started playing it again and can't beat Juggernaut either. I hate dying and than having to start over with that shitty spiderman level.

  • Happy 1st anniversary of KWING Reviews!

  • HAHA had this game and could NEVER complete it, was too hard and too stupid, still kept trying too.

  • Love it! Keep up the good work!

  • I have this game on the original gameboy. It's really fun. Great Review by the way.

  • I remember when i first beat this game..i was so happy =]

  • wow, i remember playing this game, i thought it was total ASS

  • congrats on yur 1 year anniversary on reviewing games

(greatly reviewing if i say so)

  • Great review i remember this game being too hard i could only beat a couple levels

  • ANother Great Review. But wut happened 2 Golden Axe Wing? This Game iz ok like u sed but I liked Maxium Carnage on the Genis way better then this game. Happy Mothers Day and keep up the work bro.

  • Congrats on a year of reviews! But, I just don't understand why you gave this game a 6/10 because of the difficulty factor.

  • Congrats on your 1 year anniversary

  • Congratulations on a year past! (^_^)

    -Sixty X Celph

  • Good review. And your audio has gotten better.

  • This piece of trash was published by the __INFAMOUS__ LJN company, which already says alot.

Horrible graphics, badly made game mechanics, ugly level designs - this game has it all.

Now, to be fair - the actually good Spiderman games didnt exist until PSX wonderful dilogy, so it does have some small merit. Some VERY small merit.

  • ugh, i really hated this game. it gets you so frustrated sometimes...

  • 6 out of 10! Sounds a little harsh for a game that you said it was fun and anyone can get into it! BTW is this on the virtual console?

  • Hey kNIGHTWING01, Congratulations on one year of great reviews! I wish you all the best in the future my talented friend. Good Gaming and God Speed ^_^

  • congrats on one year of reviews!

I really didn't like this game at all. Too hard, and too annoying.

  • Cool review. I've thought you have given it somewhere between 7.5 and a 6.5, just by how you were describing it.

  • sorry.

other video has played in my mozilla firefox

  • this is crap!!!

what is that voice in background?!

    i haven't heart anything

  • awesome review, well done on lasting a year!

  • Is the SNES version better then GEN?

  • This game was so hard!!!

  • wasnt you gonna Rewiev Golden Axe?? O_o'

  • Hey, Kwing, this has puzzled me for quite a while now, but why do you explain the controls in your reviews? It doesn't bother me any, in fact I kind of like it, but I am just wondering what your reasoning is behind it.

  • My Wife wanted me too. So I did and I have ever since I started.

  • Great KW! You = Awesome!!!!11

  • here is to one more year punk!

  • cool

  • niceeeeeee

  • good review :)

I think you forgot to finish your video discription though, but happy anniversary :D

  • another great review
