I admit it, I'm a gaming addict and I need help. I play about 8 hours a day. I'm failing my classes and I really worried about it but every time I start playing i stop worrying about my grades. This is really bad because I know that I'm about to get kicked out of college. I think the number one factor that keeps me hooked on video games is the multiplayer. If I had to play a single player game, I'd get bored within 1 or 2 hours unless there was a really cool storyline to follow.
Ahhh.. he's alliance! And from what the analyst said, this can become a big issue game on the social/emotional areas. It's somewhat frightening in a way how a game can produce anxieties otherwise never experienced before. Face-to-face contact is lost, and that brings its own demons into being. WoW's fun, but it can become otherwise if not balanced.
I played this game for a week around a year ago and i must say, it is a very fun game.....at the start that is. i got to lvl 29 and for me around lvl 25 it just turned into a total grindfest. I wish WoW wasn't a grindfest or i still would be playing it. Also, to bad its $15 a month, man do i wish i had a credit card sometimes :)

i used to play maybe 10 or so hours per day after school my motherboard fried so i cant play anymore D: i play it on another comp every now and then but wow has gotten just kinda boring over time really pre burning crusade it was a fight to get epics if u had a full tier set u were a god.

No... I have 4 level 80's i don't forget thing's so easily from my first time people just don't realize if you read the quest it's not really hard and not really hardcore that's just leveling when it comes down to it it's raiding and pvp that is hardcore depending on what you do.
Such as Ulduar hard mode toc on heroic regular is to easy pvp hardcore is an arena team of 2800 or higher. questing is the easy part of the game my friend. :-)

Hardcore is hardcore... progression raids and farming consuming over 10 hours a day easy, i passed all my grades at school and am now going cold turkey :) For all them people who say its sad.. it is. My case is semi-unique, and although i am still considered an addict to most people, it was really all there was to do. I live 20 mins from the nearest town, don't drive, don't have a job and spend my days cooking, cleaning and doing anything else i feel like. that means WoW because what else is there? tv and movies-pass. reading-do that while i play. other stuff online-meh.

I am definitely what most people would consider a WoW addict. I don't work (but not because of WoW, because I am a housewife), and was playing literally all day every day until i decided to take a break about a week ago. Was cake to stop, but people would still call me an addict and will again when i start back up in 2 weeks =P
When I play WoW I drink less and when I drink I play WoW less... I got a DUI a while back started playing WoW allot more, and when I was drinking I'd get off work, go to the bar(drink for about 6-7 hours) go home and go to bed neglecting any kind of decent sleep or food, and go to work the next day a little slow but I'd work hard. After my DUI when Istarted playing WoW more I was/am so much worse, dont shower sleep or eat... and I log on not wanting to do anything, I just over organize my banks.

i believe that an "addiction" is only when YOU let an activity deprive you of your basic needs, ie. eating, sleeping, work and your real life social life. most "addictions" are misclassified because they play alot. i myself play about 1-3 hours a day of ps3/360. and some days i dont play at all. and people said i was addicted. well you know what, you can look at any persion in america who watches tv and say, "YOU ARE ADDICTED." because who dosent sit down after work and watch tv for 1-3 hours?

The vast majority of people who play video games are mere fans. They're also entitled to do as they wish so long as they do not harm themselves or others. Yes, some DO spend too much time on WoW, but I have a strong suspicion that if WoW was taken from them, they'd act compulsively in other ways.

ughh these addiction people piss me off, how come a person can watch TV for 5-6 hours a game and nothing is wrong with him/her. but a person that plays WoW for 5-6 hours is addicted? the whole child suffocated thing is sad and unfortunate but those people could have gone to watch a movie at the theatre and come back and the same thing could have happened.... they dont know that because they stayed maybe an extra hour that was the cause of the suffocation....

normally i would agree with you except the fact that i played much more than this. My case is semi-unique, and although i am still considered an addict to most people, it was really all there was to do. I live 20 mins from the nearest town, don't drive, don't have a job and spend my days cooking, cleaning and doing anything else i feel like. that means WoW because what else is there? tv and movies-pass. reading-do that while i play. other stuff online-meh.

I am definitely what most people would consider a WoW addict. I don't work (but not because of WoW, because I am a housewife), and was playing literally all day every day until i decided to take a break about a week ago. Was cake to stop, but people would still call me an addict and will again when i start back up in 2 weeks =P

When I play WoW I drink less and when I drink I play WoW less... I got a DUI a while back started playing WoW allot more, and when I was drinking I'd get off work, go to the bar(drink for about 6-7 hours) go home and go to bed neglecting any kind of decent sleep or food, and go to work the next day a little slow but I'd work hard. After my DUI when Istarted playing WoW more I was/am so much worse, dont shower sleep or eat... and I log on not wanting to do anything, I just over organize my banks.

Okai, i play WoW like 8 Hrs a day, I am addicted... but i still have a RL, I still have friends, and i can actually get off the computer... Just becuz you play a lot doesnt mean you dont have a life. My friends play to and they play just as much as me, but still do other stuff. All the ppl that think Addicts of WoW dont have lives, it's not true. I ended up pushing most of my friends away IRL, its always been my personallity to "take breaks" from friends for a little while, but WoW made me feel like I didnt need anyone anymore man. I aquired a sense of belonging within it, therefore everyone else became obsolete. Man call you're friends and set some time away, and have a good time.

Its a GREAT game and you dont have to be afraid to play it. Its all about control, if you see your favorite dish and cannot crontol yourself, you HAVE TO EAT IT, then you have no self control and should not play, but if you have control, go write away.

I think that you people that are complaining about WoW addicts need to research everything first.. I am 13, and I am a WoW addict. You're right, people that have jobs but dont do them because they are playing WoW do have a problem.
