How you help others makes all the difference. Give a man a fish you'll feed him for a day, teach him to fish you'll feed him for a lifetime. The state fails to help that guy because they try too often to give him a fish. Some people, but very few, need to be simply given a fish. When we just hand out to those who are capable we rob them of their innate inner drive. They come to believe they cannot do it themselves.

I think Canadians are more empathetic because the peacefull folk fled north during Civil War.
