Saw Death Cab last night in Columbus. All of their songs were actually extremely good. Was a little pissed i jsut had the camera on my phone. Shitty 3mp LG. They played this song and I enjoyed it immensly, just about everyone sang along at 1:23. It was fantastic!
@djfeas001 -- I was lucky enough to have my camera with me. Unfortunately for people watching the video (but fortunately for me), I was close to the stage, where a giant wall of speakers made the bass range a bit distorted. Yes, at 1:23 everyone loves to start singing along -- it's a pretty catchy chorus!
Thanks. I use a Canon G9. Great stills and great high-quality video. I has image stabilization which helps a lot. I wouldn't recommend dancing while you're recording, though. It makes the video too shaky.
I used a Canon G9. It's a great little camera that takes awesome still shots and great image-stabilized video (provided you aren't dancing). I *think* it can even work with an external microphone, which might produce better less distortion than the built-in one.
What happened when you got caught recording? Do they just make you stop? Also, what happens if you're caught at the door with a camera? Never brought a camera to a show but have always wanted to.
They didn't care at the door. They actually felt my camera in my jacket pocket and didn't seem the least bit bothered by it. I was taping during the encore and I think because the show was almost over, more tour personnel were milling about close to the stage, waiting for the show to end. They just said "Videotaping is not permitted." So I started taking still shots =)
Nice. I always fears the people at the door would be asses and tell you "cameras are not allowed," and make you get out of line and put it in your car. Cool that they don't though. I am totally going to bring my camera to the DCFC concert at the Greek Theater in Berkeley! Thanks.
I've never had a problem getting a camer into The Greek. Make sure your batteries are charged and that you have a fresh memory card and you should be golden. The Greek is an easy one for getting close to the stage too!
I see that you had similar audio issues. I guess when you are 15 feet from a wall of speakers your audio is bound to be a bit distorted. Oh well, it was a great show!
I have thought about going to the Greek show, but I don't have tickets yet. And yes, I agree that dancing during the song makes it hard to get good video, but the audio quality is usually so-so anyway, so I think if it's shaky it's no big deal.
saw them in cbus last week, tremendous show, love frightened rabbit as well (their openers). overall - fantastic show! :)

Then you probably saw me get busted for taping during Transatlanticism. They were nice about it, but I was bummed.

It was a great show. I also have to learn to stop dancing when I am recording. You were a bit closer. Nice vid :) Are you going to the Berkeley show?
