I met Steve Reynolds at the Tri-Cities Columbia Cup in 2003. He is a great guy and he even gave me an autographed T-Shirt with the three of the boats he drove during his career, the Miss 7-Eleven, Cellular One, and Circus Circus. I was 8 years old then.
i was there that day. it semeed like the flip occurred in slow motion, i remember sun glistening on the bottom of the boat. no lie soon after the skies got really dark.
Of all the years that I have attended The Madison Regatta, and been following The Unlimited Hydroplanes, this was the scariest crash I have seen. Several years ago, I also had the honor of meeting Steve Reynolds when he came back to the Madison Regatta for the first time since the accident. Thank you Steve!!
I'm Krista Reynolds. I was only seven years old when this happened, and was standing below the clock tower when he flipped. Thank you so much for posting this, it's the first time since 1987 i've been able to watch and not cry.
