  • About a month ago I spotted one at a pawn shop here Down Under. After a few minutes of having my face glued to the glass cabnet I asked to have a hold. Absolutely Mint! Anyway I left it because thought the price was a bit steep. It bugged me til yesterday! I thought for sure it would be sold but there it was. A minute before closing I walked out with it for half the price. Didn't even test it! All I can say is this bass looks and sounds "Gorgeous". My only gripe: Inlay a bit ordinary. "Oh well"

  • Hey can any1 help me. I was thinking about buying a new bass soon. I know for sure that I want a precision bass. Does any1 have any advice. I've narrowed it down to 4 possible basses that I might want. The steve harris p bass, roger waters p bass, mark hoppus p bass, or the sting p bass. Does anyone have experience or knowledge that would help me?

  • @BWaspects i agree i dont care for it either

  • I wanna buy one of those but they cost about £900

  • I got to play the real thing... if you check my channel for a nice special video...I think I might have to go find one of these, however.

  • Maaaaan.....it looks BEUTIFUL!!!!! how much did it cost?!

  • John Deacon used that early P-Bass in the 70's way way way before Sting. John Deacon is the NUMERO UNO bass player in my book!

  • how much did you pay?

  • yikes! that fuckin thing is awesome!

  • how much did you pay for it?

  • awesome. i wanna buy 1

  • I'll Play a Fender Japan Model over a USA one anyday of the week, and I own both. I have a few Fenders and Squiers that I bought new in the 1980s. The Japanese ones were half the cost of a USA made Fender, I have gigged them for well over 20 years and still look and play great. The japanese models are patterned after the original 1950s and 60s guitars. I have a 1960 Precision to compare them with.

Nice Bass....I know you'll enjoy it

  • My Geddy J bass is made in Japan, it sounds awesome.

  • the prices have gone up on these in the stores its about a thousand dollars now from the stores i paid six hundreda and something!

  • Can you get a nice pick tone with this bass? or does it get too bright? i like to here the bass while i play with a pick

  • Great,and The Cramps,ya !!!

  • yes indeed Japanese people are extremely meticulous with the details so fender japan basses are great look up for marcus miller signature jazz bass in you tube you will see a excellent japanese bass :-)

  • some people say that fenders japan made guitars are some of the best made and i agree

i have seen some made in japan that were just as good if not better than usa made ones. p.s. i have a usa fender jazz and its no better than this one

  • @ronaldsmusicfactory

I have an 88 Jap Strat that plays better than most Am Strats and my friends agree to the point they went out looking for them used.

  • Your loss is everybody else gain MezzoForte08

  • @MezzoForte08

I have a 1988 MIJ Strat that played better than the American models. It'll be 30 years old next year. Not bad.

I also have a 1957 P bass and I haven't played anything that touches it. It isn't made for modern pop n slap but if you are ready for blues, boogie and rocknroll you are good to go.

  • If I am correct, Fender was the first to manufacture basses to the public with the 53' precision series. What you are holding is very rare and I am truly envious.

  • It's a Sting Signature re-issue.

Not a "Very Rare 53'" as you put it.

  • and they introduced them in 51 anyway

  • You found THAT in a pawn shop? How much did they sell it to you for?

  • Nice one! I'm thinking on getting one but I'm afraid it's a bit heavy for my shoulder. What do you think? Cheers

  • heeeeeeeeeey!!!

    is this Sting's Bass?????

  • yes it is :)

  • uhm.....

    but in particular...

Sting's Bass hasn't white cover and it has other colour, it is more deep than your's

And....on Fender site, the picture of Sting's Bass is like your's...

    bah!!!!!

can you explain me thi particular???

    thanks...

  • this is just some p bass sting reissue that i found in a pawn shop its made in japan at sometime ??

  • ah okok!!!!

    thanks!!!

    wow in japan!!!xDD

  • hey!

  • is that asil adkins? :D

  • no but its hasel adkins song the band is the cramps there awesome

  • i want that shit...

  • Thatt bass is sick as hell man. Nice find.

  • just curious does the pickup sound just like the neck pickup of a jazz bass or is there a difference?

  • there is a difference this p-bass sounds really smooth

but i still love the jazz :)

  • nice hasil adkins cover of 'she said' in the beginning

    wasn't expecting that..

    awesome bass

  • hasil adkins is awesome

the band covering the song is the cramps

  • Hey nice bass you got there :) Mine is quite similar.I recently came across a CIJ '51 Precision and i had to have it hehe... They are rare down where i am (South Australia), don't see to many of them. Luckily, when I came across this beauty, the shop was having big sale... so i got it for 50% off! I was contemplating the Squire Vintage Modified TB Bass, but for $200 more, i got a much much better Fender. I was very very happy as you could imagine hehe

  • thanks mate thats an awesome story thanks for sharing !!:)

  • hey crazy man. what a great bass you have. there is a red light over my head, now and it screams: g.a.s. alert!

like this bass, too and it would be the right for my johnny cash covers. that bass could fill a great hole in my collection.

the '51 precision is like god, the '53 like jesus, haha.

  • oh you scored big time!!!!

  • how much u pay for it? nice reissue.....

  • i dont quite remember i think about 3 or $400

  • google 53 sting reissue.sting may have played 5o something but its still called a 53 sting reissue

  • dude type in 53 sting reissue bass

  • ok that will do for me

  • you'd have to ask him lol.i didnt even realize it was a sting bass until i got it home from the pawn shop then i noticed it said sting on the 12th frett in scrbbled letters

  • its not like i bought it because it was a sting bass i mean woo hoo.p.s. i did like the police!

  • PLug it in retard!!! why post it if we cant hear You dumb ass

  • i suggest you put up a vid before you run your mouth. i'm playing it on other vids and only play when(I)feel like it.if you were here i'd throw it at you and tell you to play it and then when you looked suprised i'd knock you out.that could be your first vid.getting knocked the fuck out

  • you need to watch more vids before you judge people!thats a stupid move.

  • you might need to get some speakers or a hearing aid.and dont be jealous because i have this bass.go look at my guitar collection first.lol!

  • the only retard i see is your mother for raising a fool.

  • nice bass. im going to buy a fender bass in a month because i like their look. i played this one and others in store. but i dont know if this bass has enough power for stage. i play rock/metal. of course this one is great for pop music and studio. i read about early p basses that had such a single coil too which had problems with deep tones. the replaced it with the today known p-bass pickup. is this pickup a re-built old one or has it the new-age "punch" too? in store of course its loud enough.

  • i dont think you'd be unhappy with any fender bass they are the godfather of basses for a reason .if you think you need more checkout the aerodine fender basses.or get a jag

  • thats a proper bass TELE headstock GAS GAS GAS i hope you got it for a great price. Now all you need to do is plug it in and play "walking on the beaches looking at the peaches" What a bass line that is :)

  • what song is that ?

  • You were right. Even without the amp the tone is friggin' great.

  • thanks man you cant tell but im temporarily deaf in this vid i couldnt hear a thing

  • Very Very nice!

  • i think this might be my fovorite bass! thanks for giving me the idea to get one

  • Beautiful peice of equipment. Beautiful.

  • Absolutely a Beautiful peice of equipment, Like the way ya said"I Had To Have It!" really exceptional high quality video too. Later Hot Rod! Peace\/
