About a month ago I spotted one at a pawn shop here Down Under. After a few minutes of having my face glued to the glass cabnet I asked to have a hold. Absolutely Mint! Anyway I left it because thought the price was a bit steep. It bugged me til yesterday! I thought for sure it would be sold but there it was. A minute before closing I walked out with it for half the price. Didn't even test it! All I can say is this bass looks and sounds "Gorgeous". My only gripe: Inlay a bit ordinary. "Oh well"
Hey can any1 help me. I was thinking about buying a new bass soon. I know for sure that I want a precision bass. Does any1 have any advice. I've narrowed it down to 4 possible basses that I might want. The steve harris p bass, roger waters p bass, mark hoppus p bass, or the sting p bass. Does anyone have experience or knowledge that would help me?
I'll Play a Fender Japan Model over a USA one anyday of the week, and I own both. I have a few Fenders and Squiers that I bought new in the 1980s. The Japanese ones were half the cost of a USA made Fender, I have gigged them for well over 20 years and still look and play great. The japanese models are patterned after the original 1950s and 60s guitars. I have a 1960 Precision to compare them with.
yes indeed Japanese people are extremely meticulous with the details so fender japan basses are great look up for marcus miller signature jazz bass in you tube you will see a excellent japanese bass :-)
I have a 1988 MIJ Strat that played better than the American models. It'll be 30 years old next year. Not bad.
I also have a 1957 P bass and I haven't played anything that touches it. It isn't made for modern pop n slap but if you are ready for blues, boogie and rocknroll you are good to go.
If I am correct, Fender was the first to manufacture basses to the public with the 53' precision series. What you are holding is very rare and I am truly envious.
Hey nice bass you got there :) Mine is quite similar.I recently came across a CIJ '51 Precision and i had to have it hehe... They are rare down where i am (South Australia), don't see to many of them. Luckily, when I came across this beauty, the shop was having big sale... so i got it for 50% off! I was contemplating the Squire Vintage Modified TB Bass, but for $200 more, i got a much much better Fender. I was very very happy as you could imagine hehe
you'd have to ask him lol.i didnt even realize it was a sting bass until i got it home from the pawn shop then i noticed it said sting on the 12th frett in scrbbled letters
i suggest you put up a vid before you run your mouth. i'm playing it on other vids and only play when(I)feel like it.if you were here i'd throw it at you and tell you to play it and then when you looked suprised i'd knock you out.that could be your first vid.getting knocked the fuck out
nice bass. im going to buy a fender bass in a month because i like their look. i played this one and others in store. but i dont know if this bass has enough power for stage. i play rock/metal. of course this one is great for pop music and studio. i read about early p basses that had such a single coil too which had problems with deep tones. the replaced it with the today known p-bass pickup. is this pickup a re-built old one or has it the new-age "punch" too? in store of course its loud enough.
i dont think you'd be unhappy with any fender bass they are the godfather of basses for a reason .if you think you need more checkout the aerodine fender basses.or get a jag
thats a proper bass TELE headstock GAS GAS GAS i hope you got it for a great price. Now all you need to do is plug it in and play "walking on the beaches looking at the peaches" What a bass line that is :)

John Deacon used that early P-Bass in the 70's way way way before Sting. John Deacon is the NUMERO UNO bass player in my book!
