  • I actually do have an open mind.

And that is what leads me to see your video in a different light.

It is not really about what it pretends to be about.

Nobody thinks to themselves that racism is great or that violence is great.

And if you look for "hate crimes", you can start to see them literally everywhere, which does have a negative effect on society.

  • IOW

It is very obvious that this video is intended to promote a narrow and stereotypical view of what "racism" really is, and one that is intended to support "hate crime" legislation.

But I dont really care about this video.

It was so poorly done that it is really not worth commenting on or arguing about.

I dont see how it could be used for any purpose.

  • man what a creative imagination you have. no where in my video does it say that what is being displayed is the only form of racism that there is. there are many forms and levels: racism within a race, quiet racism, and even hostile racism (which is depicted in the video) and im making and assumption here (please note this) but you must live in a sheltered neighborhood because hate crimes such as this one (and even worse ones) are heavily prominent in many communities around the world.

  • Well I guess it might take someone with a creative imagination to see how predictable and unimaginatvie this depiction was.

The way you try to connect murder/physical violence with underlying attidudes and beliefs in order to support special "hate crime" legislation is typical.

(oh but youre not claiming that this is the definitive example)

Nobody is for violence, or for hatred, or for racism, which all exist.

Would you consider gang violence to be a "hate crime"?

  • something should be done about them. nothing is wrong with hate crime legislation as long as its reasonable and within the limits of law. i agree this video was poorly done because it was done in a matter of hours and it shows. but if you say this video has no worth commenting on you are wrong since you are only one who has commented the most. sometimes the most miniscule of things provoke the most debate. learn to open your mind and not see every educational message as cut and dry

  • "I'm not Chinese"

    "You are now"

    OWNED!!! LMAO

  • There is something about preachy political correctness that always inspires poor acting, and a lack of imagination.

    I wonder what that is?

    Pragmatophobia perhaps?

  • This was a simple class project. Theres nothing preachy or political about it. U should never assume stuff because u make an ASS out of U and ME

  • Of course this video is preachy and political.

    Its a PSA!

it doesnt make any difference whether this is just a class project, or something else.

  • no PSA are to educate people. Education can be preachy but it is not always and this PSA is not preachy. As for political yea u got me there PSA's are.

  • arrogance is evident in your pretentious language and in your absolute reasoning. and you said "sending a message against something is not "education" it is propaganda" you are missing a key part of what defines propaganda. which is a self interest. racism is a negative thing in society and so displaying a video against racism is education. hmmm... welll i guess it can be biased if racist people are watching this video and dont believe in advancing society.

  • This reminds me of the Violence Against Women PSA's

Show images of totally one sided conflicts which would never occur in real life, where one side is the perpetrator and the other is the victim.

    And call it "awareness raising".

But really it is intended to encourage people to think about the issue in a black and white way (and promote the charities/industries which are there to "solve" the problem).

So yes, self interest is usually involved.

  • but in this case how is biased wrong? biased against racists? education can be militant and forceful. teaching racists and people who are ignorant of its extreme danger is education but then again education is subjective. because whereas i see it as necessary learning you see it as biased.

  • @ st37One you know, I've never really noticed it before. But looking back on every psa I've ever seen, they were all poorly acted.

  • That is because PSA's must be dishonest, unrealistic, shallow, and biased.

This makes for bad acting, bad comedy, and bad entertainment.

They are designed to motivate people towards certain attitudes and behaviors (ussmaine calls this "education"). They are not designed to provide objective, interesting, or otherwise useful information.

It is sad that there are many people like ussmaine who refuse to distinguish between indoctrination/propaganda and education. That is a kind of corruption.

  • Apparently, ussmaine believes that the topic or even the concept of hatecrimes is not pollitical.

    LOL

    thats a good one.

If that case were to be made legitimately, then It would have to be argued that there is no such thing as a political topic.

  • St37One. your arrogance blinds you. this class project is sending a message against racism so yes it is educational. and yet u say i cant distinguish that from propaganda/indoctrination. racism is felt by everyone and it is a common for people (especially minorities) to spread awareness about it and learn of methods to combat it. So how am i being biased in my message?

  • sending a message against something is not "education" it is propaganda.

It does not matter if you agree with the propaganda, or if you disagree with it, that is what it is.

For people who don't already know what racism is (nobody) this would be educational.

Does that make me sound arrogant?

What gives you the impression that I am "arrogant"?

  • try not to be so judgmental and lighten up yea? like i see u have an LOL in your comment. is that a happy LOL or is that a self-absorbed haughty laugh?

  • I like the fake blood. Was this for a humanities course?

  • Please stand against hate I will make Zelda Classic 2.10 quests (YummyCola for instance) that will say to stand against hate.

End the hate before its too late-

    Jason
