  • I'm cashing in on this now already. Gonna be huge/

  • News Literacyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • We're already more halfway there.

  • at 8:00 twitter was successfully predicted.

  • This sounds waaay too pro-google

  • With the release of Google + this is more valid than ever. Not to mention that USA today in a blog post today, urged readers to use the online version!

  • brave new world!

  • Now, this is not the end. It is not even the beginning to the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

  • EPIC, the Evolving Personalized Information Construct. Released in November 2004. Googlezon. Touches on major privacy and copyright issues.

  • can anyone tell me.. where can i find the articles of this video or any articles that related to it... please!! please!! please!!!!... i need it so much!!! please!!!!!!!...

  • i gradiuate in 2015!!!

  • haaaa so not accurate

  • THIS MAKES NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SENSE!

  • Google Grid = Google Chrome OS?

  • @Kzkroon You are wrong. It's entirely up to the users to decide what is shared. Stay smart, and you will be able to retain your privacy all while continuing your favorite events with your phones and PCs.

  • The description of Newsbotster is similar to what's happening on Facebook, where your friends post links to news articles and anyone who sees it can "like" it or comment on it.

If you look past the names and companies and focus on the speculative concepts, this video is eerily accurate.

  • What if you don't watch/read the news?

  • I'm to scared to use my camera now. Google might have access to it. (The future is happening...now!! :( !! )

  • Underestimated Google, and didn't foresee the smart phone market boom.

And didn't plan on facebook and wikipedia phenomena either :P

Goes to show you how dynamic the future is when sites like facebook can comes for obscurity in a mere 2 years to the biggest site on the internet. You can't accurate foresee these things... but the facts about computers analyzing news and personal content is definitely accurate and already done.

  • So news is going to be more personal (and local), what is wrong with that?

  • just awesome... moved me sooooo mcuh ;)

  • DROID

  • click wheels? in 2014? we're already past that and it's 2010. you could've done better than that! come on! convince me that google is evil!

  • Many of these things are already happening: geo-coded programs like TwitterMaps, Foursquare, Flickr, and GoogleMaps; "participatory journalism" using RSS readers like Google Reader; the rise of online "marketplaces" like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, and the demise of newsmedia - see the Seattle Post Intelligencer, Rolling Stone, Newsweek....you get the idea

  • Actually, this is kinda true. Google wants to be the owner of everything

  • Goodnight Hal

  • Yes, I'd rather have hoverboards and power laces than all this.

  • actually podcasting started in 2004.

  • Epic 2015 is an epic win. I remember watching this before YouTube was around.

  • Googlezon is a stupid name. Thumbs up if you think the same.

  • Who thinks this is already happening?

  • that is scary in more ways than one. its 2010 so it seems that this wont happen in my lifetime(or at least i hope)

  • @PiromaniacStudios Read today's news paper. J/K, open yesterdays paper.

  • @PiromaniacStudios hahaha u make me laugh child...read some kurzweil

  • Where is facebook?

  • The film says that "this is what we wanted" Thats not the world I wanted. And not even close to the vision I have now.

  • online social networking is creepy and anti-social.

  • won't be long til the satelites have x-ray vision to match the john lennon airport bad news will be a thing of the past so new york times if they aint reportin extra terrestrial life will infact go defunct times are changin watch this space :) i hope we get it all or it's the road to the end :s

  • @boatofcoins social networking isn't creepy - some of the extremes it goes to are creepy, but I find it less disturbing than 'hanging around on a street corner' and the ever favorite 'going to the pub every night and getting drunk'. It's just the new age.

  • @Erynnsilver i rahter 'hanging around on a street corner' or be in a pub with friends than a machine can frikkin looks into my private or social live's.

  • This all sounded so likely in 2006. I wanted one of those wifipods, but that was back when touch screen technology was awful, so I don't blame them for not predicting the iPod Touch.

  • Correction: Not "likely" but "plausible"

  • Lol

    "wifiPod"

    "Googlezon"

Good thing this video was updated. The original was good off on their "guesses". I like this one better :P

    Lol, @ 7:52 "piPod"

Great Video 5 stars just for uploading it.

  • wow, and Google buzz started for some hours. I can see what my neighbours thinking, but I didn't meet them before!

    Kinda freaky

  • It was made in the year 2004.

  • i cant wait for 2015 stalking will be so much easyer

  • when was this made?

  • ...needs more Youtube domination.

  • @Groudonmaster687 aha i think the same thing

  • i believe this could happen but i doubt Google is going to be come this type of monopoly

  • Its already well on its way.

  • Internet based storage sounds like Google owning the rights to all the intellectual property on your "hard drive".

The non-volitle flash hard drive is evoluton, crossinashes. It 's better than the traditional hard drive with moving parts.

I wish our presenter would stop trying to predict the future, however.

  • "Google today unveiled more details of Chrome OS, a lightweight, browser-based operating system for netbooks.

Chrome OS netbooks will not have traditional hard disk drives -- they will rely on non-volatile flash memory and Internet-based storage..."

  • The current storyline with Microsoft and News Corp reminds me of that sequence of frames I'm currently watching.. 2015 looks already too far. We'll get to those kinds of steps faster.

  • i dont get it

  • I just dont believe anything. Yes, internet and technology are growing and fighting to have the best, but really? in 5 yrs they predict that? pls, in the early 1900's they said that by 2000 cars would fly. mmmmmm where are they? oh true! we have airplanes! maybe we can be the Jetsons by 2050! lmao. It's ok if you believe this, I'm just expressing my opinion.

  • we would have cars that would fly only if the dumb governments would give up researching new weapons instead of things that are really important.

  • Its actually happening faster than 2015. Some details are different, but its happening. The owner of fox news wants to go strictly behind a pay wall and is talking to Microsoft about partnering up with Bing.

  • This is getting more and more closer to the truth. Google is already going to print 2 mil books and sell them. Maybe they will partner with Amazon to sell the books and from there ... God knows what.

  • I'm thinking Skynet, Big Brother, and give me some goddamn Soma so I don't have to worry about it...

  • Lol I got the Big brother and Soma references but what book is skynet from?

  • Skynet is from the Terminator series.

  • that last part, it's twitter without gps

  • i don't get this can someone explain this to me in a messege?

  • It's a speculative prediction of the future, predicting the end of print media and the changing nature of news. The Internet has already radically changed news as we know it, and this looks at how the future might look.

  • And when people stop believing that kings have a divine right to rule, the entire world will become stupid. Or something. It's easier setting up a fictional dystopia as a strawman for your adversaries than it is actually proving them wrong

  • Google has already come up with Google Brain, which, is SUPPOSE to come out in 2020..if Google is still up and running.Google Epic 99% won't happen, all the time when you see videos like these,it's like "What we HOPE will happen in 2015"

  • hope.....

i really like the 4th estate....

this can lead us becoming so isolated

look at what it says about epic at its best and worst.... 7:07

  • lol i found nothing wrong with this, id love to see this happen.

  • ARG this is SO ridiculas! no sence what so ever! THE INTERNET WILL NOT BRING ABOUT THE RUIN OF SOCIETY!!!

  • No, because it already did.

  • Nailed it.

  • that was so stupid

  • Its incredibly accurate.. It will get to this point but even more so.

  • Guys, keep in mind this video was made in 2005. Over all, it's a shockingly accurate prediction on the course of internet - especially Google.

  • I saw this 2 years ago before I became interested in social networks. Seeing it now that I am totally wrapped up in Google Friend Connect this is chilling.

  • its funny how accurate and wildly inaccurate this really is. For now.

agree with Skynet theory, I yelled it out when I saw this in class for the first time.

  • This was originally written in 2004. Think back to that time, no Facebook, go Google Friend Connect, no Digg. Then think again, incredibly accurate.

  • Seriously, I don't think that google is going to take over the internet. And if they do we shall boycott them, lol.

  • They already have taken over the Internet. Try boycotting Google, I dare you.

You could only do that by throwing your computer out the window.

They tried that with Microsoft. Ten years ago. It did not work then.

  • "Boycott Google!", says the user of Google-owned Youtube...

  • It wasn't supposed to be a literal prediction of date and times, its an overall view of where the internet is heading and it's fairly accurate as far as overall trends, if a little ahead of schedule

  • One word: SkyNet

  • And then Google will make it.

  • After that, the war between Google and CERN will begin. However, both sides are getting closer to power. CERN can make weapons of epic power, and Google has a base outside of national boundaries, so America's laws do not apply to them.

  • Or HAL...

  • Googlezon sounds stupid lol

  • Googlezon sounds stupid lol

  • wifiPod?

  • this is the dawn of a NEW WORLD ORDER :-(

  • Interesting projection of the commoditization of everything through the customization of anything. But this is what the library at Alexandria Egypt did for the Classical World of Alexander and Rome: Creating a reservoir of knowledge out of which humanity and individuals can flourish despite the constrains imposed by orthodoxy and fundamentalism. The only real question is whether this leads to a golden age for humankind or the emergence of the Super- organic BORG

  • EXCEPT, the library at alexandria did not have MASS AMOUNTS OF PORN! Porn keeps the internet in check.

  • don't be scared of this if you have nothing to hide...!!!

  • very scary. there going to know everything about us no privacy what so ever..

  • No. Just don't use Internet and you will be still anonymous.

  • Anonymous will have to LEAVE the web to remain being anonymous?

*sigh* It's only a matter of time, we all know it is.

  • @Unify34 There is no privacy anymore, stop using computers, phones or what so ever and you'll have your privacy back....

  • @Kzkroon yea but they have ruined society and nature, what are you supposed to do?
