  • Brilliant! Nothing else to add

  • Awesome! I didn't know where the ideas came from but now I do.

  • Excellent video, really enjoyed watching. You have got one of the opening scenes mixed though, your film shows the tunnel which is shot 5 of the mountain drive. You blend this then with shot 7 the very last one before we see the hotel. But don't listen to me, I've watched this film 1000's of times. I can even give you the Lat/Long numbers if you wish.

  • Great work!

  • Filming location video in real life boring.

  • Well, you should have eaten your breakfast

  • GREAT JOB !!!!!!!!

  • the place looked better back when it was filmed compared to today

  • Gran clásico del teror

  • arnold at the end!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 03:27 Yeah, I'll take the stairs. LOL

  • Great job!

I love the split screens and cool dissolves. I assume that's you by the elevators.

I'd like to know the technicalities of your video... software, etc. if you have the time.

  • omg amazing sets, look like the real ones, very interesting to know this about indiana jones

  • Who would thumb down such a well made video? Looks like someone stayed in room 237.

  • man that is one scare looking place, the idea of being all alone, trap in a snow blaze, is enough to for the mind to play tricks, no matter how much change they made to the place after the movie was done.

  • Great job.

  • What is the song at the end of the video?

  • ANYBODY HAVE THE SCENE WHERE HES CHASING HIS WIFE and hes like im coming to get you

  • Absolutely Brilliant! Your shot comparison is flawless. Thanks for sharing your great work.

  • great job!

  • The floors were better...and why are the stairs gone? Everything was better before! Amazing video! Super interesting.

  • The soundtrack to the Shining has got to be the creepiest soundtrack of all.

  • i went to that hotel.....it was actually very different as shown in the video here, but i think they still had the words "redrum" still writen on the door

  • @kburnout did you hosted in 237 room???? :-0

  • This is great!

    Really enjoyable and informative!

  • Have you made a video loop that shows the title "Always visiting movie locations and no play makes Jack a dull boy" repeated over and over. Only to be accidently discovered by your wife/girlfriend?

  • Great job.. such a shame it wasn't all shot at Mt. Hood.. Such a tough location to cover as a fan.. you did a great job.. I've been visiting many of them all over the US .. Feel free to look at my channel as well.. Dom

  • IVE BEEN THERE AT THE HOTEL IN COLORADO!!! i saw an orb!!! crap its was eerie

  • Thank you so much for making this video! The Shining is one of my favourite movies of all time and this "on the set"-video made me want to visit those places myself. The Going-to-the-sun Road looks spectacular! I will drive that distance one day : )

  • I can only repeat what others have already said. It's a great video and it was very well done. I enjoyed watching it a lot.

  • Excellent excellent video..beautifully made..a joy to watch...wonderful...thank you!

  • Amazing. That is a truly remarkable piece of filming. I must admit I prefer the sound studio version of the hotel. The art deco style is more appealling. It is good that you were able to show the real hotel.

  • THE OLD SPERM BANK UPSTAIRS LOID

  • OMG now i wanna go there

  • really enjoyed this. i read the book in 9th grade and loved the film when it came out. thanks for this fine work.

  • hellyeah man ths vid wuz ku!!! goodjob!

  • Amazing

  • is the picture at the end actually hung up in the awhanee hotel?

  • Rest in peace, Willie!!!

  • Well, first of all, my most honest congratulations Herve Attia. Great works. Amazing. Do you just do them for pleasure? Or has to see with some movies-tv program from somewhere?

    Then:

    I can't belive.

Seriously, I can not believe they recreated all the hotel as it is in the reallity just by the fact that Kubrick didn't want to fly.

Couldn't it be the oposite? He didn't mind travelling but he created this legend to inforce his myth?

At the same time, he could have take a trasatlantic ship, no?

  • You are extremely talented. Great job. Amazing.

  • what amazing sets and what memoerble film

  • the awhanee hotel is beatyful, and the yosemite valley too, are gorgeus and dark misterius (as appear from pictures, i have not been yet there) why kubrick did not film right there????? they seem even better and darker then timberline, the valley, and the exterior of awhanwee too......then to rebuild the enterior, it s curious

  • spectacular!!! great job dude!!

    what a beatyful country America

  • I just subscribed. This is amazing! I wish someone would do something like this for the set of Mad Max 2 :\ I've seen a few shots from Australia, but nothing as detailed as this one :)

  • Strepitoso

  • man, ive been watching your filming locations, and they are so good, that if i see a filming location video and its not by you, i don;t even want to watch it, cuz i know it won;t be as good as yours. hahahaha. good fuckin job man. love it.

  • Fantastic video! The similarities between some of those sets & the actual locations shows the mind-boggling attention to detail in this film. Imagine walking into one of those hotels and thinking, "Jesus, I'm in the overlook!"

    Thanks for posting.

  • Herve has done it again ! Remarkable !

  • I have stayed at the Ahwannee and while the decor was obviously the inspiration for Kubrick's film, it doesn't have an "Overlook" vibe at all. It's a very intimate, cozy place whereas Kubrick depicts a vast, imposing environment that is somehow sterile and intangible. I don't get the connection other than it being a design influence, nothing more.

  • Great video! Please, could someone tell me the name of the song that starts at 2:45? Thanks!

  • great video but you forgot to add the scenes in the "Stanley Hotel" in estes park, Colorodo.

  • Ace. I visit Timberline Lodge here in Portland tomorrow. Can't wait to find Jack Nicholson trapped in an ice cube!

  • Great video. With what software have you edited this video? grtz

  • Man, this video is AWESOME!

  • my god, nice work!

  • Great stuff...does anyone know where in Boulder, CO the Torrence's apartment exterior shots are taken? I see the Flatirons in the background, and a white building way in the background, but that's it. Was it "super-imposed"?

  • great job

  • there is no room 237at the tiberline lodge. they were gonna use 217 but the hotel didnt want to jinx the room so kubrick changed it to 237 a room that didnt exist

  • I wanted to get stoned in the shinning hotel, and its not realy real. F**k this, I'm off to find the hotels from Psyco, I'll get stoned in that room. Not fair!

  • What a fantastic video ! The shining is the very scary movie ever. How spooky would it be to stay in the Ahwahnee hotel, and think. "Oh my god I am in The Shining !!"

  • At 7.25 have they taken the stairs down or am i blind?

  • 7:03 as soon as possible lol

  • I have been all over the Timberline Lodge looking for room # 237, but I have never been able to find it!

  • @TheLegoboy1997 That's cos the hotel asked Kubrick to change it from 217, the room's number in the novel. The hotel thought it'd be bad for them to have an actual room, as in the movie.

  • cool thx always wanted to see how the hotel locked like

  • lol@the pic of Bruce Willis giving the finger at the end.

  • i used to be scared of the hotel now all the mystery is gone, thank you for debunking this conspiracy i hope u sleep well at night while other shit themselves lol

  • That was great!

  • That was great! Thanks, Herve! I've seen "The Shining" so many times, being in the hotel the interiors were based on would be... well, "we've all experienced deja vu, but this is ridiculous!"

  • Man thats awesome..I saw your First Blood vid & it was great..You put alot of effort & work in these vids..I love it..Great work..You're lucky to visit there..

  • I love the shining and great video...I never knew that that hotel was actual real hotel.

  • "here's Johnny!"

  • The Ahwahnee hotel looked really scary to me when I saw it in the Shining.

  • I still can't believe that most part of this movie was made on a stage. Unbelievable!!

  • nice edition man

  • great video !!

  • Shelley Duvall is a perfectly normal looking woman. Kubrick said that what attracted him to her for the role was the way in which her nervous system functioned and how her personality is similiar to that of a woman with low self-eteem. This explains why the character of Wendy puts up with so much abuse from Jack. I just love the opening scenes of this film so much. Especially the normal apartment scenes with Danny eating a Pb&J sandwhich.

  • Indeed. It really bugs me how some people say they "hate" her because they think she's ugly. She's a beauty of nature and not one of those stupid plastic-looking Pamela Anderson women. I wish ppl would just appreciate Shelley for the great actress that she is.

  • @BoundaryShift

I agree. She's a girlie woman, just perfect for the role of an abused woman.

  • Great video, must visit those places sometime, I so wish it was all filmed in a real hotel!!

  • Just stunning stuff. Pulling on the mysterious threads of The Shining. Thank you so much for your work on this:)

  • awesome, dude! I always wanted to visit the Timberline lodge, "going around the sun", and the Ahwahnee.

  • this is cool. I feel bad for the wife in this movie based off some of these comments. She was so good in this movie. It seems like this generation is just more about being hot and having zero talent. Don't get me wrong I'm a guy who loves good looking women but come on fellas be a gentleman and show some respect

  • Good job..5***** !! 9:28 Thx for Jimmy Dean

  • i think shelley is beautiful

  • well done! greetings from Sweden

  • great movie, great video

  • this is even too scary to watch

  • Brilliant job! I Figured they based it on some real places, didnt know it was THIS specific!

  • the wife gets slightly hotter after while shes scared though

  • Wow thats awsome

why did they build it all in a studio

why did they not just film in that hotel ??

  • Wow, excellent job, thanks!

  • the wife from the shining is really really ugly..... she looks like an actual horse face

  • lol, couldn't agree more, she's real nasty lookin.

  • Does it make me a bad person if I agree with that statement?

  • when i first watched the movie i was more scared of the scene's with her face up close than the scene's with the gore.

  • thats just great!

i see a bit of a re-make of the shining once, anybody no anything about it?

  • A remake? That's an incredibly tall order. I can't imagine anyone trying to top or even come close to this. I pity the fool who even tries it.

  • Okay, I remember now. They did make a miniseries of The Shining with Steven Weber (the pilot from the tv show Wings). It stuck closer to the original novel, focusing more on the troubled marriage. But it wasn't scary at all. It was nothing like Kubrick's version.

  • Fantastiques souvenirs de l'hotel "Overlook" !

    Thank from France.

  • enorme!!!!!!!

  • great job...really enjoyed this, nice to see someone who really loves their movies as much as i do.and enjoys visiting movie locations...its a great feeling to be there in the place where your favourite movie was actually filmed.thanks for posting.posting.

  • no doubt, we live in Oregon, and have been to the Goonies locations, and plan on going up to Canada to visit friends, we HOPE to go to Hope B.C. (no pun intended). we also plan on going to southern California to go to the MANY locations down there, but mainly to the Back to the Future locations.

  • @suttonguy I'd love to do the whole thing on a helicopter. That would be amazing.

  • Thank you.

    You done a great job

I also liked your humor in the editing.

  • thank you !!!!!

  • thanks for this. . . .very interesting :)

  • Very nice ^_^

  • COOL! My Favorite Movie of ALL TIME!!! THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING!!!!!!

  • Herve, absolutely love your work especially Rambo and Dirty Harry. Would love to see this done for Michael Mann's Heat or The Insider. Brilliant photo montage at the end.

  • Superb.

  • This is great but I wonder why Herve didn't use the original 1934 song from the The Shining called "Midnight with the stars and you" by Ray Noble. You can find it on youtube if you want to hear it.

  • Dude that was Amazing! That is some of the coolest Editing And sound Usage in a video that i've seen in a long time! You made it totally Great more ppl need to do the side by side with film locations. Great Footage you got by the way! And i love how you make it eerily like sounds From shining when showing outside Overlook Hotel and The redrum when Danny was riding his bike down the Hall! Also Love the Main song and Ending song! i was excpecting midnight with the stars and you! 100/5
