  • Alison has always stood on her own talent and looks, she never tryed to look like or sound like Patsy, what one dumb statement below. This woman is so talented omg who cant see that , plus she gets better looking each year.

  • L to R at 1:34 - ??, Jerry Douglas, Alison Krauss, Barry Bales, Adam Steffey, Ron Block. Don't know the rhythm guitarist on the left. (It isn't Dan Tyminski who joined later.) Nice to see this early video.

  • i am pretty stunned to hear about people talking about what this woman looks like.... sorry but this video is about what she sounds like... and shes got the golden voice of all time... she would still rip it if they wrapped her head in gunny sacks before every show.

  • who gives a fuck about her looks...if you came for looks, go to some stupid pop singers video, you'll get no-talent-whores too. -__- grrr i'm so angry. lol

  • She has gotten hotter since then.

  • What a kick how everyone is commenting on her looks! Folks, this is probably the 90's when Alison was barely over 20 and this look was very typical of the 90's! I think she looks adorable and it's fun to see how her singing style is a little different than today. She's still with the same guys-so awesome!

  • @chiarabocelli She was trying to look like Patsy Cline.

  • @goldworldnet how do you figure that has to be the dumbest comments i have ever read in my life !!!

  • @goldworldnet Do you know what atsy even looked like? You're drunk or retarded- sorry- you are just really wrong. Allison looks great just being Allison!

  • Amazing what losing 40 pounds and dying your hair blonde can do for a person.

Seriously, is this really her? lol

  • Glad to see her with Jerry Dougas here. Isn't it ironic how everyone looks more atractive now even though they're a lot older?

  • Does she sing, "Back to Georgia?" or back to "Geor ga guuu?" or something entirely different? This has to be the only song where I'm not certain of her lyrics, she usually sings so clearly and purely that every word can be heard. But on this one, she has me beat.

  • @hicsumfabulalepus

Sounds like stretched out "Georgia," written more or less like "Georrr-huh-gia."

Check how she sings "worry" as "wor-ha-ha-ry." :)

  • I love this song! I wish I could meet Alison in person just so I can hear her sing. She is amazing! I am going to sing this on Americas Got Talent! I am detecating it

to Alison! LIVE FOREVER ALISON KRAUSS!

    !

  • I was born and raised in Georgia and my family lives in Atlanta. Every time I'm driving to ATL from New Orleans to visit them, I listen to this song. It's tradition.

  • She is one lady that has aged so gracefully. She looks better older than she did when she was younger.

  • Low-key rocking out at about 2:21, but rocking out nonetheless.

  • How is it that Alison looked like she was 40 when she was 20 and now at about 40 looks like she is 20. Her Golden voice stays the same. Born July 23, 1971.

  • Don't tell the band Bad Company that I like Allison's version more than their's even though it's their song.

Everytime I hear this I get homesick for the place I grew up...Georgia. Geez, I can visualize the red clay and smell those magnolias.

  • her voice is quite amazing. But she deserves some beauty, which isn't shown in the clip >< now she looks so much better

  • oh suck it up aussie

    shes one of the best

  • There is not a voice on this earth that can match this young lady!!!

  • @cuneeda1950 SALUTE!!

  • OK all you Aussies. Check out a couple of your country men/women. Look up the Greencards started by two Aussies and a Brit. Some of the smokinest bluegrass music ever.

  • My dad was listening to AK for over 10 years..he loves this song....can't you feel the energy about Atlanta...peach tree.....

  • I have been to Atlanta a couple of times. Even rode the subway. Great city, despite crazy Ted. LOL!

  • @elmoclosetrun and fuck you too you dumb arse kiwi cunt.At least Austrlians dont abandone there country because its too hard to live here.

  • dang she has changed a lot!

  • Comment removed

  • She looks younger now then she did back then! Same beautiful voice though!

  • Love her voice

  • Beautiful version of a Bad Company song, wonder what Paul Rodgers thinks of this version?

  • @ctune1 This was a song by The Atlanta Rhythm Section .

  • @HotRodSixString ARS may have covered it too, but it was written by Mick Ralphs of Bad Company and appeared on the Desolation Angels album from 1979.

Regardless Alison does a fine job and has a great taste in music! She truly made it her own. First time I ever heard of her was when I saw her do this tune on Dave Letterman, bought the album the next day!

  • @ctune1 Wow isn't it funny how you can own an album listen to it until you wear the grooves out and still remember wrong . And I sounded so convincing I probably made somebody else get it wrong as well . I sure had me fooled .

  • Where did Australia come about? It's Alison Krauss. Just enjoy the music, put all ignorance aside for 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

  • DAMN the Confederacy! Damn those traitors.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 Wanna choose up sides & give it another go? Damn Yankee....

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 - Wanna choose up sides & have another go at it? I expect the outcome would be FAR different this round. And if you are so stupid as to think that the War of Northern Aggression was fought over slavery, you simply didn't pay attention during History class - damn Yankee.

  • @OhBeeg1BanjoV My friend, I have Southern people in my family. They are all 'liberal.' The South is not and was never the Confederacy. No, I do not want to 'have another go at it' - because I do not want to divide the United States. And 'history' is not taught in 'classes.' It is learned through your own critical reading of books, making sure every fact is proved. Stop being so hostile.

  • Why is it that the people who support the Confederacy are Aussies and Germans? We Americans have given so much to you. Yet you want to divide us. Stay in your own country and do not bother us! The South was crushed. They believed in slavery. We crushed them. We will crush anyone who opposes us.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mygrassisblue01 What message are you responding to? Have you misdirected your post? Why do you respond to me? I said nothing about the South. And, what do you know what I know about history? And, what does history matter? Do you do unto others as you would have others do unto you? If so, why are we arguing?

  • She gets down on the album version.

  • I didn't know at the time that this is an old Bad Company album cut! Alison does an awesome job on it,and made me seek the original out, too.

  • Ah, before she went "commercial." I love her effortless, sweet voice.

  • My Favorite song by Allison. I love this. It always gives me joy. The problem is I only have a cassette to listen to and no cassette player. lol I will get the cd soon. I love you Allison Krause ! ! ! ! ! !

  • Oh Atlanta, how much I love you....this song, too!

  • Great singing and guitar playing,

  • I always liked her version better then the original! Living in Ireland now (via Atlanta) and this song and version..always makes me feel a bit homesick for Atlanta.

  • Boy, there are a lot of either young or musically uneducated folks around here. This music is Allison's version of music which comes straight out of the Black South. A great amount of Bluegrass is highly influenced by Southern Black people. I hope you young people remember that. I'm sure Allison does.

  • i love aussies!

  • nice steel! love alison! oh hell yah!

  • I don't really like blue grass but I like Alison she rocks.

  • 2:07 to 2:55 the best part

  • o.O She looks like Tim Curry from Rocky Horror... wow... just wow.

  • as a general rule i hate country, but this is pretty good

  • @imstillalive0331 This is NOT country music my dear ;) This is called BLUEGRASS music! :)

  • @endofdays212 Well said. This is bluegrass!

  • GOD, how SHE'S changed!!!!!

  • She was sooo amazingly beautiful back then. Real, she was just real.

  • @Rcksaltnnails I think she's pretty damn hot now ! Jusy show's how she has blossomed with age like a fine wine . Glad she lost the perm though..... Oh! and her voice is amazin' as well ; )

  • this is great!!!!!

  • wow i have never seen her like this man the early years

  • I'm on my way back to nearnear?

  • @walterwoods28... Haha, I remember thinking that when I was little. It took me so long to figure out it was Georgia.

  • @walterwoods28 on my way back to Georgia

The song is Oh Atlanta. Someone had to tell me too.

  • what the hell!!! she looked like ernest borgnine back then

  • True, but she is near perfect in voice and face and body now! Money and public exposure, advisors, etc., etc., etc. can help a person become more refined and more appealing in every way!

  • so true.

  • True..been alot of barbie and ken record deals mess up country music. I vote for more talent and less posers! Who cares how good they look if they sing like mud.

  • ROFL!! she does look 1000000x better now

  • hahahahahahaha, best comment i've read in a coons age

  • This was so long ago! Alison looks so different.

  • Howdy! I tell you what, I can listen to Alison sing over and over and over again. All the best - Judd Jugmonger

  • What a beautiful voice. Bluegrass isn't heard that much here in Germany, but I like it. You can tell that it is sung from the heart.

  • @nastynippelz Yes, 'sung from the heart.' Hmmm. Is art morality? Yes, I love AK. But I do NOT like her politics. I prefer the Dixie Chickx. They have more courage.

  • @nastynippelz My German friend, bluegrass is very similar to Wagner. -- If you know what I mean.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 LOL..well that's like comparing apples to oranges. But I think I know what you mean. ;-))

  • @nastynippelz Well, I prefer the DC's politics, but we also love Allison. Musicians don't have freedom of speech. They are under contract with corporations. Only Natalie and the DC had the courage to buck that. Wagner didn't have to worry about such things. He was the ultimate rock star of his age. Thanks for your kind comment, my friend.

  • @nastynippelz Thank you for talking about Alision and not about our differences. This is not the time nor place for arguments.

  • @scorpionmuse Yes, but what are Allison's views about politics? Do you suppose she has freedom of speech, my friend? No. She is under contract with a record company because if she expresses her political views, her fans might not agree. You can not avoid reality my friend. As Aristotle said, man is a political animal. Moreover, in a republic, it is our obligation. We must think. Above all, we must be honest and sincere, and have courage in our sincerity.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 I see your point to an extent but I know that I a not avoiding reality. I came to this sight to listen to music for it to take me away for a moment from reality. Is that so wrong to forget for the moment, to get lost in the music the sound of her voice, and to read like minds who enjoy her music, not to read about people arguing, or "debating" about polotics? I live with the reality of things every day, I am analytical and like a good debate, but not about our differences.

  • @scorpionmuse I'm very sorry I caused any bad feelings. Yet, did not Jesus say He did not bring peace, but a sword -- and I've always interpreted that as the sword, not of hate, but of justice. So long as we fight for what is right, for the Golden Rule He taught, we need never fear conflict. No. We can --and must -- welcome it. I do not believe in the supernatural - don't get me wrong. But I consider myself a Christian, and that is above all 'countries' and tribes and races.

  • reading comments. am i watching the same vid?

    thank you for posting

allison looks so very different today

voice has not changed a bit

    what a talent

  • Great Jerry Douglas slide. Some Dobro huh? Better version on the Louisville concert CD. We're gonna rip 'em up ..

  • I'm an Aussie...How rude and uneducated you are to mouth off like that about Australia....You want to see patriotic?? I don't think it is very nice to come on here and slag off about someones 'Whole" country. There are another 20 million Aussies in this "colony" you know you insulting, know nothing, POS!! I hope you never visit our paradise down under, we want the land values to rise!!! Ugh...ignorance just pisses me off >:(

  • Comment removed

  • @RockChiki I don't know what this ass said about your great country. Because it has been removed. All I know I have been to the lucky land 3 times and it is paradise, And the people there are the greatest. And People who think the Australians hate Americans. Don't know the Aussies because 99.999% are just great people. I miss OZ so bad. Great music, food, land, and most of all people. Thank you so much for being so nice to this American. OH I forgot about the VB great stuff.

  • @aerowayne1 How many Aussies have you met? They call Americans 'Seppos.' There is no corresponding American word to put down Australians. 'Seppo' comes from 'Septic tank,' meaning that some (most?) Australians seem to think Americans are shi-. I live in Japan, and I've met many Australians. Most are obsessed with glorifying Australia. That seems to be evident in this thread too..... I would hope that is not what 'Seppoland' is all about - us and our 'Seppo' Constitution.

  • @Amfortaz I BEEN TO Australia 3 times one time for 5 months. Never really have any of the problems you have.

  • @Amfortaz It is not a derogatory term in the way you think it is, it is very rarely used except on 50 year old movies and is rhyming slang, the same as the Cockney's use.Septic Tank = Yank.

I am over 50 and lived in Oz most of my life and have NEVER heard the term used except in a really bad American made film that was supposed to show typical Australians

  • @aerowayne1 Rockchicki came to MY defence after a tosser (who deleted all his posts) said that Allyson Krause was no good, overated etc etc and THIS Aussie came to her defence and simply asked how many Grammy's HE had to compare with her talent .For that he then started to bag my country after seeing where I was from on my profile.

  • @muddyboots111 I guess the wanker just has no taste in good music, or any class.

  • @RockChiki I've been to Queensland. Amazing. Beautiful. A police officer gave me a ride because I was lost... Australia, and her people, are beautiful. And what's up with all the big breasts!? When I came back to California, I told my sister that there must be something in the water... needless to say, I drank gallons while I was there. I'm sad to report: No change. Still a Barely B cup ;)

  • @mungbean4u

B cups rock. No 'fertilizer' necessary.

  • @RockChiki I'm here with you on this one, anyone who mouths off about our country can go die in a hole. i love Australia, its a b-e-a-UTIFUL Country :) i am proud to call it home.

  • @RockChiki but youre all criminals?

  • @birdiejoehoaks Hey you ignorant moron. What the frick are you living in WV??Inbred little fuck with ears out to your mouth?? STFU. You make the rest of Americans look bad. What is 1 plus 1 mofo?? Give me a decent answer fuckhead and maby you'll be forgiven. Fuck I hate ignorant asscaps...........

  • @conmaesta but, its a godforsaken british prison island filled with abbos and criminals. its history.

  • hey man I'm from WV and for your information most of us ain't inbred

hicks, if you want to cut birdejoehoaks for being a asshole inbread

who just talkin' out of their ass

that's cool just lay off WV

we get enough bad rap with out your help

been to Au. 3 times had a hell of a good time

treated with nothing but respect all 3 times i was there

  • @1958wvpicker I am from eastern Ky and I was in Nam with some Aussies and went to Australia for R&R and was treated very well and with respect, but that that was not what I come home too,We people from WV and Ky and VA mountains are more manly than most men in the USA and i am a picker also and i like Aussies

  • @RockChiki

Are you really Australian? You don't seem to write native English. Anyone can say they are anyone on the Internet. Judging from your English, and your rudeness, you seen neither a native English speaker nor an 'Aussie.'

  • @RockChiki Who cares where you are from?

  • @RockChiki Why don't you calm down, mate. If you Aussies have an inferiority complex, take it up with the UK, not we Americans. They 'transported' you, not us. What I object to is you right-wing Aussies projecting your complex in the US - in the form of Rupert Murdoch. I wish the Confederacy had won independence, then we 'liberals' would be separated rightists using Confederate images to assuage their inferiority complex. And BTW, I have several 'liberal' Aussie friends.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 The reason RockChiki got upset was because an idiot was bagging Allyson Krause and saying she was a no talent etc.I pointed out to him that she has one more Grammy's than any other artist and for that, he went to my profile, found where I was from and went on a mindless attack on Australia,Australians etc.He deleted all his comments because he has no guts and you unfortunately can only see what remained. As for Rupert Murdoch, you're welcome to him.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 Murdoch gave up his citizenship to buy more American interests and that is the lowest thing I can imagine doing.

Not sure if you are aware but Murdoch's father was one of the most liberal and at the time considered radical for his stance against the British Empire and the way they treated Australain soldiers under their command at Gallipoli. He was a journalist that paid his own way to the War to get the truth.Rupert has none of those qualities

  • lets see how beyonce sounds without all that sampling/editing behind her...

  • How many have YOU got ?

  • What a wanker.!! You NEVER will because you're a NOBODY giving your opinion in a forum about a talented performer and a great song.BTW,you're getting the Thumbs Down probably because you're opinion isn't worth a crock of shit.

  • You'll be fine once your balls drop low enough to touch your underwear. Please,if you are going to try to act intelligent,at least learn to spell.

You are a nobody who REALLY ,REALLY needs to be heard.

And BTW,I am better than some wanker who feels the need to resort to name calling rather than possessing self control.

  • I just read your profile...you really should keep quiet. If you are really 25 !! You act and write at a 5th grade level. Please stop embarrassing yourself !!

  • A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. Please don't try to engage in a battle of wits, you are totally unarmed.Your entire "intellect" is based on the fact that someone showed you how to spell Google.

  • Is that you Kanye???

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • gross

    high fructose corn syrup

    ......que MERD¿¿

  • THere's one in every crowd....and here's ours! What a tosser.

  • I saw her sing this live as the opening act for Dwight Yokum in 1994

  • THATS bluegrass!!!!!!!!!

  • When did Dan Tymenski Join Union Station? I don't see him here.

  • Wow, how long ago was this? She's really had a style make-over since then. You can hardly recognize her here.

  • Sheesh, Yeah.

Probably the early 90s.. maybe earlier.

  • Back to Gee-or-ageea, Love it!

  • WOW!! She has such a beautiful voice and better yet, SHE KNOWS HOW TO USE IT! I love her vibratto

  • Im trying to find this song on playlist, but it wont show it :[

  • Alison Krauss's voice is timeless. Always will be.

  • Alison Krauss is the greatest female singer of all time

  • awesome ilove alison krauss

  • Damn, you go girl!

  • not many people knkow, this is actualy a bad company song. nice version tho

  • This song gives me the chills. I can't believe how effortless it seems.

  • Awesome!!!

  • 26 grammy's is irrelevent. Based on that then McDonalds is the best food on the planet since they sell the most!

  • How does she do it? he never ceases to amaze me at all. I hope she's around in the bluegrass music world for a long long time. So great!

  • much hotter today...

  • This is Alison before she was commercialized, both her music and her looks. Both were better then!

  • what is up with you dissing allison on her looks and music now, she looks better and she sounds just as good as she did then if not better

  • I am not digging on her looks, I am digging on the reasons as i see them. It is faked, as is her music today. She IS a bluegrasser, but really doesnt do that anymore so she can remain commercial. Same with her looks, she has had atleast 3 plastic surgeries because the "real" Allison wouldnt be "Pretty" enough for big time comercial airplay, and that is sad. What happened to selling music because you can, get this, SING! If she an a guitar sang kids songs and she was 300 pounds she would be great

  • Tell that to Ann Wilson of Heart....she has one of the most amazing female voices ever...and she gets no respect due to the fact that she has gotten heavy....I think it sucks that the buying public is so full of shit to not be able to see past looks to talent. Ma Cass would never make it in the music business today...Neither would Patsy Cline...and that is shameful.

  • I understand your convoluted logic, but don't agree, if she were the commercial type she would just go solo ,like so many others, and why rounder records her entire Career, and not the big boys? because she doesnt want anyone controlling her, and why oh why doesnt she just go straight country, nobody even plays her music on the radio and she could care less! COMMERCIAL?get real.

  • That Robert Plant and Alison Krauss record was on VH1 for goodness' sake! "Whiskey Lullaby" was all over the radio too. Also, of course the bigger names @ Rounder have more "free reign" probably, but Ken Irwin is still in charge overall. A majority of Americans know who she is, as evidence by her broad television and radio play AND numerious Grammy wins. I think she just might be COMMERCIAL....

  • Alison Krauss has earned - what, 21 Grammys. Not really hiding is she.

  • 26.. more than any other female.. only 6 more till she has more than anyone period..

  • What's great about now, is it gives then a point of reference. At 26 Grammys (and counting no doubt) she seems to continue doing something right.

  • ??????????????????????????

  • kay so im a little late on commenting back...but good god your an idiot.

i bet ur not any better looking and u sure as hell cant sing better than her. not even close. so take ur stupid comment somewhere else cuz uh..no one gives a shit what u think

  • and yes that was referring to yomamadontdanz

  • My wife and I saw them at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis in the early 90's. WOW! This song brought the house down! I am looking for the video to their very first hit on CMT. It is called "New Fool". We were on vacation and that video came on. It was our first introduction to Allison Krauss and her amazing voice and we instantly fell in love with her! Can anybody post it or tell me where to find it? Thanks!

  • I heard this song when I was 6 and new right away that I wanted to be a singer! She is my first and best inspiration. I love you Allison and God bless!

  • great voice, immense femme mullet, still love her

  • Alison Krauss is the GREATEST ever!!!

  • No Doubt!

  • It was the late 90'S

And for your response Yargarogoo you have to love country and rock to appreciate the bridge between the two genres
