  • i was there and i witnessed it firsthand. i was forcing myself to believe that he had did a low flyby and flew away to another airport, but i could not hide the truth forever :'(

  • I was at this show the day Jim died. He was an exciting performer and an even better person. Semper Fi, Jim, and thanks for the memories.

  • Jim was my aerobatic instructor and he was a great man...a mans job or profession does not necessarily make the man...yes he was a marine...yes he was a university graduate...yes he was husband...and yes a Father...and in fact, a great man with exceptional character as I have met many men and have yet to meet anyone with the integrity of Jim...He taught me how to be a good pilot and better yet...the elements of a good man.

    RIP my brother... and Godspeed.

  • way to rub in

  • you were the one that got me doing aerobatics, your amazing performances and such free flying inspired me in so many ways, you will be missed by many.

    RIP Jim.

  • Jim, your now soaring with the eagles. You will me missed by millions of people that you inspired when you starpped on your wings. GOD BLESS YOU!

  • May God hold his wings in his merciful hands and guide him to his Love.

From a brother Marine, R.I.P. my brother.

    Semper Fi.

  • Today, July 28, 2008 marks one year since Jim's untimely passing. He always took the time for his younger fans.

We miss you Jim, Jimmy and Bobby. Blue skies forever and Semper Fi Jim!

  • Your an idiot and have no respect! he was one of the greatest pilots in the world and there will never be another one like him. Show the man some respect and learn how to speak and write in proper english! He was a performer in a very dangerous sport it's not like he was an airline pilot. I agree he and the people holding the airshow made a very bad judgement call and it cost him his life. Everyone should have been grounded untill it cleared up. He was and still is the greatest flyer ever!

  • by the way my english is not perfect but I am french. try to write and speak french well and I'll see! I will laugh at you I am sure, stupid american...tsss do not make judgment too quickly!!

well I guess you are the best american who knows everything.

  • ok well heres an aussie calling you a fuck head too.

go watch formula 1 you fag.

  • What did you do when the germans came and attacked your asses??

    You ran to Us.

  • How the fuck did all you losers

start shit about Iraq during a tribute

to one of the greatest pilots to ever

    perform?

  • Jim is still one of the best pilots on earth.:(

    An amazing time was it.

sorry for my bad american speak.

  • They are absolutely NO DIFFERENT. A junky is a junky, and just because the powers-that-be "officially" sanction junkies who fly air shows vs. junkies who shoot up in buildings DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY MORE NOBLE! And, how the hell do YOU know he was a "great father and husband"? Did you live in his house? And, I'm sorry to rain on your fawning parade, but "millions" DO NOT watch stupid fucking air shows. Only the goof-ball, 'Sporty's Pilot Shop' crowd. Most of the rest of us could give a shit!

  • u make me laugh. This is where your lack of knowledge hurts you my friend. Do you know anything about airshows at all? Try and guess how many people watched just the Blue Angels alone last year. 15 MILLION! And that is just 1 team, Im sure around that watched Tbird performances as well. Together in one year that is 30million airshow viewers in the United States alone my friend. And if you can't see the difference between a drugy and an airshow pilot its probabaly cuz ur just a pothead urself

  • can't believe i'm saying this, but i agree with 1factoid. yes, it's pretty sad when "good" people die, but that doesn't make the guy a hero. honestly, he was an entertainer. when dave chappelle, halle berry, or a sports icon die does that instantly make them "heroes"? i could understand if he was doing barrell rolls or flying upside down while rescuing people stranded in the mountains, but to do it to make money and get people to applaud you, doesn't make you a "hero" in my book. no disrespect.

  • Have you ever even been to an airshow? There are shows that rack in 300,000 people in one weekend. That is an official number my friend, I have read in on military websites all the way to a site like CNN. So I guess there is 15million of us "nuts" out here. Too bad for you...I'm done with this becasue i'm obviously not getting anywhere, good day

  • Ha I'll agree with that, but our government has nothing to do with Jim Leroy, he was a great man and deserves respect.

  • Hey, IDIOT, Leroy was a Marine, which means he was a government-trained goon!

  • k i know i said i was done, i dont care about any of this anymore, but make fun of our government all you want, lord knows they deserve it, but please do not make fun of memebers of the military past or present. im not gonna get mad but the men and women in the military don't deserve it

  • I agree with you I'm a veteran and the people who protect our freedom should never be made to take the brunt of or GOV. actions.

  • you are quite simply an ass...Jim was my aerobatic instructor and he was a great man...a mans job or profession does not necessarily make the man...yes he was a marine...yes he was a university graduate...yes he was husband...and yes a Father...and in fact, a great man with exceptional character as I have met many men and have yet to meet anyone with the integrity of Jim..He taught me how to be a good pilot and better yet..the elements of a good man.

    RIP my brother..and Godspeed.

  • Jim was a Great Pilot, and i was honored to have been able to see him fly, and meet him in person at the Avalon Airshow 2007. RIP Jim!

  • My Brother lives in Xenia and his company had a tent right around there. We left the show and heard he had died. Rest in peace Jim

  • I miss Jim he was cool. Every time I see this video it almost makes me cry. Rest in Peace Jim.

  • same... I was there and the weather was bad so I decided not to go on Saturday... found out at USAF museum from ticket seller for bus to airshow there had been a crash... 5 minutes later I found out from a spectator that Jim had died... I knew Jim a little and have the priveledge of knowing Skip and Gene Soucy now... they and the rest of his X-team are a very fitting tribut... such a sad video

seeing the missing man and Esquadrilla da Fumaca almost made me cry... free as a bird Jim! Free!

  • I love Jim Leroy and i love his Bulldog.. What he done it was so great!! I was soo tiered as i heard that he died!! I always think about u when i fly to the sky and the angels!!! Rest in Peace, Jim and ure Bulldog!!:'(

  • i was there and was like "wow thats crazy stuff they are doing" then i turned to get a gyro when it happened

  • i was there in the front row when it happened, ive never heard thousands of people so silent....it was shocking..rest in peace jim

  • i deid when he was doing somethig i love rest in peace jim and the bulldog

  • RIP Jim you died doing what you loved

  • @stejensen I would wanna die doing what I loved too, great pilot good skills

  • Rest in Peace Bulldog

  • The song is Lynard Syknards Free Bird. ITs sort of Ironic though becouse that band had a tragic airplane accident in the 70's killing several band members. And most videos of their crash sight play this song as well.

  • I didn't know that. The irony was not intended.

  • This is a very strong video the song... i felt sad and happy bcz he died doin something he likes.Nice vid man.

P.S. who plays this song i heard it before but i dont know who plays it
