  • God rest your soul Dwight you were a good man and a great Christian! Thank you for sharing your thoughts of life with me!

  • I LOVE this Version of Water Grave. I had the opportunity a few years ago to see this line up of The Imperials at my church. Their vocals and harmonies were powerful.

  • good vid!! GOD BLESS MEL!!

  • This song was written by Steve Chapman (Dogwood 1975/Steve & Annie Chapman). Wordspring Music (Warner/Chappell Music, Inc) holds the publishing.

  • @pschapman It's a very good tune,, It get's one fired up to head down too the river

  • I haven't seen as good a rock concert since the early '70's! Wow, yeah MAN! Sing it! Hey man, gimme another hit will ya?

  • AWESOME....now that I've been to the Celebration River...

There's nothing like being BORN AGAIN.....

    AWESOME...AWESOME SONG...

  • AWESOME....now that I've been to the Celebration River...

There's nothing like being BORN AGAIN.....

    AWESOME...AWESOME SONG...Thanx Russ

  • I've only ever really liked how Russ Taff sings this song and quite frankly his is my favorite rendition but I did listen to this one and its not bad at all. The lead singer who sings Russ' part, does a wonderful job of rocking it at the end just wish he would have done it throughout the song...fantastic voice!

  • I am so glad that we have the chance to go down through a water grave. That way we are not like what I was!

  • I really like this particular version of WG. It's fun to play on guitar too. Grab that whammy bar, turn up the amp, and wail away! And the arpeggios on the rhythm guitar are a little more soulful and simpler than the original 70's version--though that guy could play too.

  • Love, love, love the song ... the band ... and our Lord! Yeah! Keep the Word alive and let's continue spreading the joy of the Lord! Check out my band's version of this song and let me know what ya'll think ;)

  • anyone ever hear russ taff sing we will stand ? if not take a listen has a great message

  • has anyone ever heard russ taff sing we will stand ? if so as christains we need to uplift each as not to let them fall . doesnt matter where weve been be to support each .other.

  • Beautiful harmony and just enough of a contemporary beat to inspire your spirit, Make you want to sing with them...

  • One of my favorite songs. I like the original with Russ Taff better though.

  • I think it's a shame that they even use the name "The Imperials."

Make it on your own, kids.

  • This is actually a group who has been around for over 40 years... and the members have changed in it regularly, with the exception of Armond, the bass. The current one is only the second to take that place. It's not a shame... It's just new and different members. I'm pleased to see the group is still around!

  • @maggiehgs No, this is Armond's son. Who sued Armond for starting back up the Classic Imperials.

  • They use the name Imperials because Armond's son is in the group. Armond bought the rights to the name Imperials and he let's the group use the name because he retired and his son took his place.

  • then of course, they legally can use the name, but I think it would show more integrity, and dispel confusion, if they titled themselves something like "Imperials 2" or "Imperials Tribute" or some other name that would distinguish them from the original group- either way, God bless them and anyone who's singing for Jesus, and living for Him, which I hope/trust that they are

  • @kanaan00 And when Armond came out of retirement, his son sued him over the Imperials name. Classy eh?

  • how nice is that who would do that to there own dad

  • These ARE The Imperials--so no shame--very talented guys as they move members in and out like they have since 1964!!

  • @hayseedsings lol.. its not the name.. Its WHO they glorify. That is Jesus..

  • @hayseedsings

The "KIDS" were hired, by Armond, 3 of them sang with Armond, then bought the group from Armond. Armond is the one with the name issue

  • I but I am looking for the lyrics, does anyone know them?

  • they came to my church last year or two years ago

  • i love youre music,it is fantastic.

  • I haven't seen any recent Imperials stuff until I came across this...but they all look like new faces. I don't see Armand, Jim, Paul, etc. But they have a good sound. Just surprised not to see anyone I recognize!

  • Oh sorry, this is ok but doesn't hold a candle to the Russ Taff version that I had played at my baptism in 1985.

  • Russ Taff was the man with this song and many others.

  • Professionally done...but nothing compares to the annointing Russ Taff had while singing it. Thanks.

  • the imperials are great, and its cool that they can be cool dudes and sing good music that also incourages people about the bible and God and Jesus!!! i saw them live in kirksville, MO at the church they were performing at

  • i want to show my heavebly father, the man i used to be has finally died, so beautiful!!!!

  • I think this song was written by Gary Chapman. But nobody will ever sing it better than my hero Russ Taff!!

  • It was written by Steve and Annie Chapman...

  • Oh thanks for that info. At least I had the Chapman part right! lol!!

  • I disagree! I love Russ Taff as well, but after listening to both versions back to back, the Imperials nail it, improving on Russ Taff's version; and this new vocalist sounds every bit as good as Russ Taff. This new group should have no problem singing and improving upon any of the old classic Imperials!

  • @porcaro4ever just watched the imperials talking about this it was written by steve and annie chapman

  • That is wonderful!! Have heard The Imperials 3 times over the last 3 years and they are great live--have that great Imperials sound as they carry on the tradition. Also great to hear that the new Imperial members fit in great! Love to see some new vids here!!!

  • just saw them at my church!

  • So, how are the new guys inthe group??

  • they're awesome! sound like the originals too.

  • and the two new guys are great.

  • Have you folks heard Debby Boone and her sisters sing this song? Sooo cool, so 70's!

  • i saw them also when was 14 but itwa when they became who ty are today i love tem so much thy have impacted my life all i can say is if i nevr heard them i would be in jail im now 16 ihave changed my life and it is all because they helped me see that od really does care for his people

  • Does any one have the chords for this song?

  • G,Bb(flat),F,C,G

  • Note: that's G with no 3rd (no B nat *or* flat), and the Bass plays G under the Bb, effectively making it Gm7.

  • I love this song!

  • I wish them well in their ministry. The Imperials will never be the same to me without Russ Taff.

  • Russ-is Russ and his bluesy voice is perfect for this song. But, I just heard these guys do this in concert and they now use guitars and Shannon has now tapped into his inner Russ!!!! All in all--these are the best Imperials to date-in my opinion!! They have grown so much since these vids!!!

  • I was only 14 years old when I saw The Imperials in concert. That concert made such an impact on me.

  • And these guys are just as impressive and just as talented as those at that time. By the way, I was about that age when I first saw them live too. I have seen these current Imperials twice and --they truly continue the legacy!

  • wow...i didn't know they had come back....i was an imperials-aloholic through the

80's....they ministered to me like no one could.....what power in their voices....you'll probably meet them a heaven's gates "singing strong"

  • I don't disagree. My comments were intended to help bring the new group into this millenium. Water grave is a terrific song and I think it would certainly have more impact with a full band.

  • I agree, but right now these guys are new and I am sure money is tight. They are also in litigation over the name usage and that is not cheap I am sure. Remember the group has been pretty much non existent nationally for most of the 90's and early 2000's. These guys are now bringing the group back to life. Things take time---and money! They are great and headed in the right directon. Get to see them live in Amarillo, Tx. in a few weeks!

  • Sis Mickey Mangun just released a new version of her singing this song on her new CD.. This is a nice version too.

  • it's funny how you guys take off any negative comments or any comments that oppose what you think. You should let your fans read and see if everything.......

  • Not bad. I think the guys are on the right track but if they want to perform rock and have it feel right I recommend they travel with a band. I saw the Imps do this in 1980 live with Russ Taff and a full band. Way better then.

  • Give it time. The first time I saw the Russ bunch they didn't have a band either. Takes time, remember The Imperials were "dead" for the most part during the 90's--they have to rebuild. These guys continue the legacy quite well!

  • These are the current group of The Imperials! I can't wait to see what happens with them. They released 2 albums in 2007 and also sang at Carnegie Hall during Thanksgiving 2007!!! ROCK ON IMPERIALS!!!!

  • The best group of The Imperials, yet!!!!! keep up the good work, guys!!!!

  • I meant to say a few moments "AFTER" we got baptized....oops... lol

  • Oh wow!!! This was at my church the day I got baptized actually just a few moments before my family and I got baptized! So this song meant A LOT TO ME! And still does!

  • I meant to say just a few moments "after" we got baptized...oops... lol

  • An awesome take on a powerful song also sang by sister Mickey Mangun

  • i absolutely love this song!!!!...most definately my testimony too!!!!

  • So happy to find this video! My husband was in a Christian Rock group yearrrrrrssss ago and their cover of "Water Grave" was always my favorite. They rocked a little harder and harmonized a little (maybe a lot) less, but the imagery of the song and the tears that flowed always ministered. Love The Imperials and this song is still so relevant. Thanks for posting it! :)

  • Wow what a powerfull song! I heard Chonda talking about this song, and I had to hear what she was talking about! It is awsome.

  • Awesome.. bless you for posting this..Loved it when Russ Taff sang it w/Imperials and you absolutely hit it. Inspired and powerful. Praise God!

  • This was recorded at Christ Temple Church in Huntington, Wv. I was there. Praising GOD with them.

  • I really love this song! This is a very powerful song! This is like my personal testimony!
