  • I'm stupified, like this fantastic leathercrafter woman could change this complicated job in something so simple for everyone.

I was wondering how to make big lacings to start my old desire to tress a whip, and now it is so clear, very thank you, DJJ.

I'd like to count with your help, if you can, of course, in my very begining in leathercraft, it is for my own pleasure and gifts, not for sell, but in Brazil is so dificult find someone with leathercraft abilities.

    Thanks, since now.

    Daniel

  • Very nice. Thank you!

  • You're very welcome. Thanks you for the compliment.

  • Helps if you make a video when you know how to use the tool! lol

  • She does make it LOOK EASY! I relace basebeball gloves and it took a few times to get the hang of it. about five pieces, six inches by six inches just to get the hang of it. Now I love it for all my scrap leather, I have a use for all of the extra leather just sitting in the box! THANK YOU

  • You're very very welcome. And THANK YOU for your kind compliments.

  • Hi ,I purchased one from Tandy Leather but I can't get it to work on buckskin. What are my other options for making lace with such a thin leather? Thank you for this video, you are amazing at it!

  • Go back to Tandy, ask them for help they will help you with making it work! THEY ARE GREAT WITH THAT. Showing you first hand on how to use any of there tools! I'm a reagular at the allentown Tandy, THEY have helped me MANY TIMES with all there tools. I know this lady who did this video, SHE SHOWED ME how 2 use this tool with many different KINDS of leather. as long as it fit into the opening she was able to cut lace, IT TRUELY IS A SKILL that will take time to practice!

  • Several options for making lace from a thin leather.

With the lace making tool, you can try backing the thin leather with Contac paper. That gives it more stiffness, so it's easier to cut the lace, but it goes through blades faster, and you have to peel the contac paper off the back of the lace the same day you cut it. Why? It's sticky, and the longer the contac is stuck to the leather, the more time the adhesive has to transfer to the leather.

  • Holy smokes, you just saved the air in my general vicinity...I've been turning it blue on a regular basis, trying to make lacing from deerskin leather, and having it pop loose every time I turned around!

  • You can also use the tool, but hold your index finger against the back of the slot you are using, pinning the leather between your finger and the tool. Keeping it from having the chance to wrinkle, fold and bunch up. If you make much lace from thin leather by this method, take it in small increments. If you have to do it continuously for any length of time, you will need to protect the finger tip from rubbing the leather. Possibly wear a bandaid on the finger, or make a light leather thimble.

  • For a small quantity of thin leather, I prefer to use scissors.

Any way you do it, it will take patience and practice.

  • @sourgirl76 try a table top lace cutter sweetness,.

  • Where do I purchase one of these?

  • That Lace Maker (item number 3784) comes from the Tandy Leather Factory. You can order it online or pick it up in one if their brick and mortar stores for about ten dollars US.

  • i want one of thoses there great plz tell me were you got it from
