Jon Paul is a good bow, it would be worth the rehair . I would go with mongolian hair, i would also suggest you get the thumb grip replaced as well. If you have any questions ask me, im a student of the art of bow making/repair.

@vln1912 hello, Otto Adler was a bow maker based in Mittenwald, Germany. He made bows in the mid 1900s. The bow you have is most likley a pernambuco stick and if original, mounted on silver. How does it play?

@jlnr82 the thing is it looks great and all but it doesnt project very well with my violin...when i use it on a diferent violin it sounds very clear and beautiful...do bows have diferent reactions to different violins? is it a good bow?

@vln1912 The Bow plays a large part of the sound you get, The rule is always get the violin first and then get a bow that draws the best sound out of the instrument. With the proper care and repairs if needed, it could make an excellent bow. The quality of hair that is used on the bow , as well the the rehair are very important.

I totally feel your pain. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Have you gotten another bow now? I bought a violin with bow and case for $150. Since I'm not professional about this and am just learning, I figured it was better to go with the inexpensive one. I can replace the whole thing for less than just a bow. However, the bow hair is getting a bit slack so I can't tighten it away from the stick anymore.

Well in regards to your bow the one thing I kept saying while watching your video: "really you tightened your bow to the point it was straight"? Anyways what you do depends entirely on the amount of money you're willing to spend. But if you don't trust the brand you're already using then just start using a different one.

hahaha yeah! i know its crazy. I do not know what i was thinking. I put a lot of pressure on the bow when i play and it feels and sounds better when its tighter so i tightened it a lot ahahha
