Actually, from all the stories I've heard, Andy pitched the idea to Vince McMahon Sr. and he passed on it because of Kaufman's connections to Hollywood. That's when someone noted that Lawler and Jerry Jarrett might be interested in the idea. I figure Vince Sr. probably looked down on all the mainstream attention this got, but one does have to wonder if Vince Jr. didn't have seeds planted afterward.
