I don't know if this has been commented on already, but he is backing up while shooting. That lowers his damage by quite a bit. Then using daggers he is moving forward, which raises damage. If he moved forward while shooting he wouldn't need the daggers.

You are right - the kiting back lowers the damage. This video has been created in Korean release long time ago. I don't know Korean, so I didn't know about these buffs. Never kite like this :)

About daggers: starting from video time (Jan 2009) the ranger class was buffed several times. The last buff (decreasing cooldown of stunning arrow to 12 sec) makes using of daggers useless after 19 lvl. But in Korean release daggers helped me much.

im 34 and still you dont have enough skills to nuke even the bow vulnerable mobs of the same lvl with average gear. Unless you get them lucky 2k+ stun crits. Bow of blessing, silence and deluge stigmas. In this video ranger dmg seems to be much higher than it is now. Or mob hp got boosted. Takes much more effort than this to get mobs in ~20s.

Good kitting (not exactly like the maker of this video) takes alot more skill than any melee-range class.

no not really...it's a finisher... instead of having to stand there and take damage or kite and run the risk of running into a mob...why not pull out daggers put on dodge skills...then when you dodge stun em and backstab for the finisher...very nice stratagy...thanks for the vid...btw what does the "luck" skill do? i'm only a lvl 15 ranger

And one major fault with this vid / comparison, you was kiting backwards, which gives you like -70% attack (or something, unknown real value).. If you were just kiting forwards away from the enemy, you'd gain an attack bonus instead.

Many things were changed such as armors, weapons, voices, lore, enviromnent etc.

Rangers can use daggers, yeah. And assassins can use bows, too.

The difference is in the stats and the abilities.

can't wait to play Ranger, heard it was very hard to play till level 16 but then it gets better and I guess if you keep doing quests it won't feel like endless grinding to get your levels.

And it should work very well in PvP.

Kiting plays a big role in Aion. It can actually increase the damage. If you don't like to kite at all, just roll a goddamn Templar.

omg... you just said it.. Ranger... The word is in the class "RANGE" they have to stay out of the attackers range to survive. Staying on range doesn't mean they'll die on one hit (which rarely happens on this game *exceptions of having godly equips and DP skills*) Their advantage is that they can attack from range and not be able to get touched by melees. IMHO save your money and play Free mmos.. oh wait.. nah.. just play Aion, roll server 1 and go afk in abyss for more abyss points.

its abotu quest grinding for XP and pvp points to beter gear

whole game is quests. You will have this quest system where if you finish all your required quests you get to move to a new planet where you get new quests again so you have quests all the time. You can have a lvl 17 quest while your lvl 10 only problem is the quest will be hard for you but you can still do it in partys or so and get ALOT of xp :)
