much respect to the navy seals! you wont find 4 people killing over a 100 taliban in your everyday life.. imagine if they didnt run out of ammo? they probably coulda killed even more
I suspect if I were a SEAL and rotating back into the world, the hardest thing I'd face is living amongst a society peppered with sheer, disgusting ignorance of the price of their freedom. Those Paris Hilton types have not a clue, and I would etch permanent grind marks in my choppers from gritting my teeth just bearing their wrongful pride. This aspect of myself would be the pass or fail point.
I agree these guys are doing their jobs. I would imagine it must be really hard when they get older and learn how they were used .These guys are not dumb. They are young and brought up believing in their country. Things have gotten clearer now. It will be people with heart like this that stand for something. Let us hope it is the right thing.
@NooDLES411911 It was only 100 because the taliban had uphill advantage ! , it could have been 1000 ! Where are you from ? Dont you know SEALS are tough bastards ?
@NooDLES411911 These guys are trained to take all of them out. There was a Gurkhan soldier who killed 30 Taliban by himself and he got away and lived.
@VoodooPolitico i agree with everything you said except that the situation he was in was a no win situation. It was not just like all the rest of the stories where a soldier is in a bad situation. It was a miracle that he survived because it was over 150 taliban troops vs 4 Navy SEALs. How is that like any other story? I'm not trying to start a fight or anything im just saying that from my prospective.
These men are inspirations to me, I am newly enlisted into the Spec-ops branch of the navy. I keep this story in mind everyday, and will serve my country by this tale of heroism.
You've got two options, shoot them man and two children and face murder charges or get out fast leaving them tied up or somehow unable to communicate your position!
I'm surprised that people dont seem to realize the obvious. Namely, that this man's celebrity-how-they-call-it was a carefully planned act of public relations of the US army. They do have to fight off those reactions against Afghan war, you know.
Luttrell talks some amazing shit..I wouldn't be suprised if the true story went along the lines of him high tailing it out of there. He changes his story. Once I heard that he carried a pic of man that was killed on 9-11 then a woman, both killed in the towers. I think when things went bad he split. He is profiteering telling his story, why not donate all the proceeds to the wounded warrior fund. The live in a nice big house, nice truck, travels the country like a celeb...WTF??

I agree, where does this guy get off by profiteering from his dead "buddies" I have heard him talk twice in public and a buch of times on here. His story changes all the time. He has done well for himself since getting out of the Navy. I'm not the only SF guy who thinks this way. He also goes into detail about operational tactics used against our enemy and hints of crossing the boarder into Paki to carry out "wham and scram" ops. Come on man keep ur mouth shut, ur making us look bad..
@Budds233 He's not "profiteering" off this book idiot, he's simply telling the story of those brave men... who gave there lives to a cause. This guy's a complete hero for what he did, we as americans need to wake up and see what these guys go through. Personally I have read his book, and might I say it's amazing one of my favorite books. This story needed to be told, and i'm glad he made this book.
Afgan war will never end.... Russia few decades ago have more control than now there, but anyway - they understand that there situation is too crazy and left Afganistan. Taliban received funding and so on from Americans at that time. Now - the same talibans fight against, and kill americans...Hope americans will never fund Chechen rebels, because situation there is almost the same - a lot of death due to foreign funding of muslim rebels...
The USSR never had control. They forced change on the Afghans and forced them to live under communism. The United States and the Coalition allow the Afghans there own choice of life. The United States has the civilian support and a vast amount of the country is secure.

So when you say, "Those who have, do not find a need to brag," I raise my eyebrows while thinking, "Oh really?"
@RSaxon07 I found that the guys that had been there and done that usually were those quiet types, and the guys who hadn't yet been there and done that liked to flex a bit, and rightly so i think. they had earned something that what, less than 1% of 1% of Americans ever will. Why didn't they just tie them up? They could have tied them up and that would have given them vital time to abort the mission and get evacuated out of there.
@joeycap9999999 i have asked myself the same thing. the only answer i can come up with is poor training or poor leadership. i would have gone for plausible deniabiltiy and called HQ for orders: kill them, capture them or let them go & proceed with mission or abort.
@altologist Poor training? All these dudes do is train. They have some of the best training in the world. And poor leadership? There really was no good decision for them. Their radio wasn't working, so they couldn't contact HQ.
@altologist quit acting like a baby back bitch and respect our nations leaders and members of the us military...read the book and the story before you make yourself look like a goon
@thecj29 still thats not right to shoot people unarmed. i always liked that about the US military for that reason i would hate to see my favorite guys on planet Earth (SEALs) shooting an unarmed man with his kid next to him
@2WorldWar2 Agreed, but as far as you being a SEAL? I call bullshit. 10,000 or fewer SEALs alive today, I'd be winning the lottery if I was replying to one on Youtube right now. What's you full name?
1 person has no national pride, 1 person has never lost someone he loves to war, 1 person has never stepped up or ever been in a war situation... screw you unpatriotic ape! I was a SEAL for seven years and I even had the honor of meeting Marcus, and if any dooshbag wants to dislike him in front of me prepare to be squashed
@Crazymonkeym16 I don't know whats more embarrasing you saying you were once a SEAL or you acting all tough on youtube for the dumbest reasons...you were confirmed of never being a SEAL...quit embarrasing yourself..5th platoon...nice nice..im glad that exists....damn
hero's like this keep me on my path to becoming a SEAL myself. only to know that maybe one day i can live up to the legendary reputation of the SEALs and honor my nation.
@Omegatide Marcus is a SEAL. A man ready to answer our nations call... An ordanary man with unordanary disire to succede...Watch the vid again of 9-11 and the plane hits high. That means the upper frame gets hot and weak and the bottom can not support the weight...in turn the building comes down layerd top to bottom.
@Omegatide You honestly belive that 9-11 was a conspiracy and the Taliban had nothing to do with it? If so FUCK YOU!! I LOST 3 OF MY FRIENDS THAT DAY YOU SON OF A BITCH!!! We invaded a country whom atacked us on 9-11. Let me guess Pearl Harbor was an inside job as well? If it were me I'da risked my job as a serviceman and a dishonorable discharge and killed the goat hearders no doubt.
Ive read his book muliple times, and words cannot describe it. RIP Axe, Michael, Danny, Erik, Dan, Shane, Jeff, and the Helo crew that answered the SEALS call for help.
im reading his book for the second time. its a humbling and moving story. i was in afghanistan around the same time frame and attended their ramp ceremony with my unit. none of us knew any of them, but watching the flag draped caskets marched onto the bird and the bereaved but hardened looks on the faces of their buddies damn near broke our hearts. unbeknownst to me at the time, we were witnessing the final farewell of TRUE american heros. now that i know the story, i stand in awe.
@Omegatide Nitwit alert, get out the tinfoil hats.
Luttrell and his team are the perfect example of the warrior mentality. They didn't kill the old man and child through pure goodness. Unfortunatly they were exposed in return. The wariors took 100+ with them.
haha man jessica lynch is no hero, she was used as a political pawn by the bush administration to support the war on terror, just like pat tillman was. the people over there who took her in the hospital had no bad intentions.
wow great story! But aren't navy seals supposed to know that if their mission is compromised by civilians that they have to eliminate them? ... these soldiers died because they spared others' lives... they probably forgot what they were doing and cost them their lives...
Should have killed them. They all might be alive today. Other countries don't play by the rules, why should we. Weird how when you make liberal choices, something in the end backfires. Go to jail after?...who would have told, the goat hurder? Should have killed them.
@porkermon you don t know the people on that team and if you were in that position your not sure if your about to kill some perfectly innocent person or a taliban thats a hard fucking decision to make
"they probably forgot what they were doing and cost them their lives"
Idiots like you shouldn't be allowed to breathe, much less speak. You think they FORGOT WHAT THEY WERE DOING? What is the logic in that?! You think that all four men would forget their purpose of their mission after being their for five days prior to the incident?! Look up more Marcus Luttrell videos and learn about the situation before you make literally retarded conclusions.
wow dumb ass..... you honestly think they "forgot what they were doing"?!?seriously? my brother in law just got accepted to buds. i'll let him know not to "forget" the training that they drill into your head untill you know how to do every thing in your sleep.
@nahumthebest Our hands(the US Military) hands are tide when it comes to this sitrep and US policy really needs to rethink ROE when it comes down to either compromising the mission or getting the mission done...I agree with Marcus, they should have 'neutralized' the threat because it would have gave them more time to adjust their situation and most likely would have saved their lives or at least had a more advantageous out come for them?
@zoso1234 i know what you mean, everything points to the father and son being hostile but they were unarmed and it was a child. if they had killed the father and child you know it would have been a big deal killing two unarmed civilians. but because of public relations a lot of Americans were lost that day.
Holy crap, 4 SEALs killed 100/150. the only reason they lost was because they ran out ammo. Amazing... these guys really do deserve praise and appreciation. God Bless them
much respect to the navy seals! you wont find 4 people killing over a 100 taliban in your everyday life.. imagine if they didnt run out of ammo? they probably coulda killed even more

im reading his book for the second time. its a humbling and moving story. i was in afghanistan around the same time frame and attended their ramp ceremony with my unit. none of us knew any of them, but watching the flag draped caskets marched onto the bird and the bereaved but hardened looks on the faces of their buddies damn near broke our hearts. unbeknownst to me at the time, we were witnessing the final farewell of TRUE american heros. now that i know the story, i stand in awe.

@Omegatide Nitwit alert, get out the tinfoil hats.
Luttrell and his team are the perfect example of the warrior mentality. They didn't kill the old man and child through pure goodness. Unfortunatly they were exposed in return. The wariors took 100+ with them.

I am deeply saddened by remarks which cast aspersions on the valor and sacrifice of our finest and most valiant and resolute citizen warriors.
Just please dissent elsewhere, this is an honorarium.

haha man jessica lynch is no hero, she was used as a political pawn by the bush administration to support the war on terror, just like pat tillman was. the people over there who took her in the hospital had no bad intentions.

wow great story! But aren't navy seals supposed to know that if their mission is compromised by civilians that they have to eliminate them? ... these soldiers died because they spared others' lives... they probably forgot what they were doing and cost them their lives...
nahumthebest 1 year ago
no actually killing the citizen is against the geneva convention and if they killed them they would be sent to jail after their mission
painlesspole1 1 year ago
@painlesspole1
Should have killed them. They all might be alive today. Other countries don't play by the rules, why should we. Weird how when you make liberal choices, something in the end backfires. Go to jail after?...who would have told, the goat hurder? Should have killed them.
porkermon 1 year ago
@porkermon you don t know the people on that team and if you were in that position your not sure if your about to kill some perfectly innocent person or a taliban thats a hard fucking decision to make

"they probably forgot what they were doing and cost them their lives"
Idiots like you shouldn't be allowed to breathe, much less speak. You think they FORGOT WHAT THEY WERE DOING? What is the logic in that?! You think that all four men would forget their purpose of their mission after being their for five days prior to the incident?! Look up more Marcus Luttrell videos and learn about the situation before you make literally retarded conclusions.

wow dumb ass..... you honestly think they "forgot what they were doing"?!?seriously? my brother in law just got accepted to buds. i'll let him know not to "forget" the training that they drill into your head untill you know how to do every thing in your sleep.
msalvatore47 1 year ago
@nahumthebest Our hands(the US Military) hands are tide when it comes to this sitrep and US policy really needs to rethink ROE when it comes down to either compromising the mission or getting the mission done...I agree with Marcus, they should have 'neutralized' the threat because it would have gave them more time to adjust their situation and most likely would have saved their lives or at least had a more advantageous out come for them?
zoso1234 1 year ago
@zoso1234 i know what you mean, everything points to the father and son being hostile but they were unarmed and it was a child. if they had killed the father and child you know it would have been a big deal killing two unarmed civilians. but because of public relations a lot of Americans were lost that day.
