I suspect if I were a SEAL and rotating back into the world, the hardest thing I'd face is living amongst a society peppered with sheer, disgusting ignorance of the price of their freedom. Those Paris Hilton types have not a clue, and I would etch permanent grind marks in my choppers from gritting my teeth just bearing their wrongful pride. This aspect of myself would be the pass or fail point.

Luttrell talks some amazing shit..I wouldn't be suprised if the true story went along the lines of him high tailing it out of there. He changes his story. Once I heard that he carried a pic of man that was killed on 9-11 then a woman, both killed in the towers. I think when things went bad he split. He is profiteering telling his story, why not donate all the proceeds to the wounded warrior fund. The live in a nice big house, nice truck, travels the country like a celeb...WTF??

He was just a Navy SEAL doing his job and found himself in a bad situation. @labartic I was IN the Navy so I speak from experience. I wasn't a Navy SEAL and would never pretend to be but not ALL Navy SEALs are humble. Yes, of course, a lot of them are. But you meet some that are really forward about how badass they are. The first SEAL I ever met when I joined the Navy was a complete asshole to everyone around him and had NO problem showing that he was a SEAL. im reading his book for the second time. its a humbling and moving story. i was in afghanistan around the same time frame and attended their ramp ceremony with my unit. none of us knew any of them, but watching the flag draped caskets marched onto the bird and the bereaved but hardened looks on the faces of their buddies damn near broke our hearts. unbeknownst to me at the time, we were witnessing the final farewell of TRUE american heros. now that i know the story, i stand in awe.
