  • I want this back

  • I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mad it closed and I didn't get to see it!!

  • @broadwaymike92 I have it I can send it.

  • ugh hate that this closed. i saw it and then went back stage and met sjb and omg shes amazing!

  • When i first saw it in broadway it was breathtaking! N i never got over how great they were! :)

  • I liked this show....

  • Hadley Fraser has the voice and the face of jesus!!

  • @BroadwayNerd123 that may be blasphemous... but I'm sure you're close! lol

  • Great Voices!

  • Great Voice!

  • Wait, so why didn't she win a Tony for this?

  • i saw her play elphaba and i liked her better than idina. great solid voice even at the higher register

  • Well.... needless to say I cannot dance like that...

  • There's some pretty amazing songs in this musical. The melodies tended to be just as good, if not stronger, than Miss Saigon (which really suffered from being sung through). The score isn't half as bad as some would have you think. Two shows currently on Broadway that have horrible scores are Billy Elliot and American Idiot.

You thought TPQ's plot was bad? Go see American Idiot -- it's a trainwreck of a show that doesn't have a plot at all.

  • @amazinggarrett1 ack! I agree. I meant to hit thumbs up... But yeah, American Idiot is only good for its choral versions of Greenday Songs and Billy Elliot is filled with a good plot, fantastic dancing and mediocre songs at best. Some may be catchy but there is no huge mind-blowing number as in Miss Saigon (Why, God?) or Wicked (Defying Gravity, No Good Deed) or Les Mis. It may have sweeped the Tony's last year but it was hardly as powerful as Next to Normal.

  • Grr....why did this close? It's Les Mis meets Riverdance--- with pirates! And the music is so beautiful....how can this have not be the best thing ever? I wish it was stil running. I wish I could've seen it.

  • @ABookwormAndProud I got to see this on Broadway...it was breathtaking!

  • The tone of the note he hits at 2:47- swoon worthy :0) Regardless of the quality of the show, there were some truly incredible performers in this cast. Thank you for sharing!

  • oh god this was a big WTF ? Stephanie is fine but cannot save this show from sinking

  • I loveddd this show i was glad i got to see before it closed :)

  • Thats some awesome dancing! It looks hard

  • Hadley (the guy) is a voice teacher at my school.

  • @MrAmazingMarcus Really Hadley teaches you? Lucky!

  • I think it's Beautyfull! I'd wish it would still play! :(

  • It closed because in the theater the music is louder then then singing making the story hard to follow. If it had lasted, people would have gotten the CD, know the words, & not worry about this problem. It was a beautiful performance & amazing actors all as nice as can be. Hadley & the woman who sang Grace's wedding song were from Ireland, the Queen was a woman who majored in Tudor music history. Grace's father Jeff McCarthy who is beyond amazing! Hope it tours or is revived to live again!

  • yes. the MUSIC is why it closed. haha. The show was a tragic mess, with a terrible story and a terrible script. It suffered from a weaker than normal score with few show stopping songs. It was incredible performers in a hott mess of a show.

  • the song 'woman' makes me cry everytime. :) It's beautiful in so many ways. <3

  • not boublil and schonberg's best but goddamnit stephanie j. block is phenomenal

  • You can catch this show in Co. Mayo, Ireland ( home of Grace O'Malley) in Feb '10. In an unprecendented move the writers have given the rights to an amateur group: Ballinrobe Musical Society on a once off basis. It will be performed in the Co. Mayo town in Feb 2010 for 10 nights!! There is a stunning cast and it promises to be a spectaclar musical feast!!

  • I wanted to see this so bad. but it closed pretty much right before my trip to NYC.

this 4 minute performance doesn't do the show any justice, methinks.

  • The problem with PQ is that parts of songs rehash melodies from Les Miz, Miss Saigon, & Martin Guerre.

  • They should make this into a movie.

  • She was way better in Wicked

  • I bet this would be really good made into a film.

  • is this still on broadway?

    :S

  • No :( it ended its run much shorter than many people would have liked it to.

  • do u know y it didnt last long?

  • I don't know for sure, but I think that as much as the audiences loved it, the critics didn't - it also probably didn't sell as well as it needed to :(

  • no

    it pretty muched flopped

  • that sux :/

  • no, it only ran 85 performances

  • It was bad... I saw it when it first came out. I had SUCH a headache. They really missed the mark with this one.

  • wow i really wish i could see this, the music is really amazing, both of their voices are wonderful!

  • does anyone know what the first song is called that SJB sing?? Really wanted to see this on Broadway :-( Why did it close?? Poor ticket sales??

  • it's called "Woman". you can get the album on itunes. it's really good. i saw it in NY. it was awesome, though the book was little weak in the end. it closed because the producers of yougn frankenstein bought out the theatre. ticket sales were really good. just theatre politics

  • The ticket sales were the main reason it got cancelled. They lost 18 million in this production.

  • wow, she's crazy. you can see her setting her stomach and stuff as she takes in air, it's crazy, XD

  • she sounds great.

  • I saw this on Broadway in New York. It was really good!!!

  • i saw her in wicked! she is amazing!

  • I miss the show...

I was one of the dressers...it was a wonderful cast and such sweet people.

  • Omg. I'm in LOVE with Stephanie!!!!!!! Uh! She is fabulous! What a voice.

  • does ne one know if this is coming 2 london?

  • I think Steph's amazing. Come to the UK for a visit please!!!

  • I probubly wont it closed

  • I didn't mean the show!! Just Stephanie.

  • OHH Yea ahes great shes currently working on 9 to 5

  • what a shame the show is over. i wanted to go and see it. does anyone know if it is going on tour?

  • Nope. It's not going on tour :-(

  • I have clue how she kept herself healthy during this show, because her role demands so much.:) Amazing lady. 10 Stars! haha

  • Stephanie J Block's voice is eargasmic to the max!

    Wow.

  • Stephanie J Block is eargasmic to the max!

    Wow.

  • She makes it look so easy to sing, belt, and act...

  • I'd love to get lessons from her :)

  • Same here about the lessons.

  • Sabriebrie- I know, it'd be awesome :)

    Have a nice day!

  • Lessons would be AMAZING, XD

She's such a superb actress and her voice is incredible too! And to grammar's comment, I don't get it too. The role is so demanding, and half the things are for real, like when she swings down from the masts? At any rate, she's incredible,=D

  • Best Musical ever..well second to Wicked :P I wish they didnt keep it on. :(

  • this show closed???!! WTH?! UUUUUGGGHHH!! i wanna see it!! they never came to San Diego!! OMGSH!! IM SO UPSET!!!

  • I love how all the songs were melded. Why, why WHY did this have to go? Okay, 'from the depths of my sadness' and 'clans collapse like dominoes' are rather cringe-worth lines, but this show was AMAZING!

Note to self: Get recording; learn part of Grania. Add to list of parts to wish I could play.

  • i hate that it closed i never had a chance to see it.that and closing lestat were the biggest mistakes broadway ever made.

  • ARG!!! Why did it have to close! I just watch this and think it is WAY better than a lot of the stuff that is currently on Broadway

  • @Moundfreek agreeeeed ! i wish it stayed:)

  • Um I met SJB And she is so nice. I saw her in wicked this week 2 and once in march and she is amazing. I wish this would have keept qoing

  • this looks great! i dont understand why it didnt sell!

  • it kinda of did. it just wansnt on for a long run.

  • the producers of young frankenstein bought out the theatre it was running in. it was selling like mad. plus, the critics doomed it from the start, even though the public was raving. i saw it in NYC and it was FANTASTIC.

  • she's so beautiful and versatile. pop ballads sound completely different than a more traditional "Herman" ballad like this...she's incredible and very well-trained. WOW.

  • Stephanie Block and riverdance in one show? How did I miss this?! Where was I?! Dang!!

  • yeah. it was amazing! it only played for a few 4 months i think. maybe 5 if you count the previews in chicago

  • this is so fuckin amazing, stephanie j block is soooooo good, this is my new favorite musical

  • stephanie is actually on wicked too she played Elphaba!!

  • I saw her. Amazing.

  • she sounds great.

  • Just awesome! I remember when i saw it in chicago it blew me away. Stephanie is one of the best!

  • YES! hardcore irish dance party.

  • Dancers have such pretty legs... lol

  • How brilliant would Maureen O'Hara have been in this role!!?? The girl who plays Grainne Ni Mhaille in this reminds me so much of Maureen in the pirate film Against All Flags

  • Omigosh, you are SO right! I didn't know anyone else had seen that movie!!

  • I love Against all flags!! Maureen O'Hara is my favourite actress!!

  • EEEE!! Mine too! Naturally, I first saw her in the John Wayne movies she was in, but I wanted to see her in other roles and fell in love with her AAF! :D

  • You should check out my tributes to her! just click me and u'll see them!!

  • Her name is Grania O'Malley... And I think Stephanie J. Block was Fantasic!

  • My name is Grainne (pronounced Grania) and that is her proper Gaelic name. I was named after her and she is known by that name here in Ireland. Another version of her name is Granuaile

  • Sorry. I didn't mean any offence by it. it was just a sttement, i didn't know there were other ways of spelling it. I apoligize if i offended you.

  • No worries!!:)

  • Celtic Woman has a song called Granuaile's Dance. I wonder if there's a connection?

  • Yea there is! It's about this Granuaile the pirate queen!!:)

  • tomara que algum dia esse musical venha para o Brasil.

  • Eu tb!!!!

Não é completamente injusto que não podemos ver esse show maravilhoso? O video é bom e tudo, mas não é a mesma coisa. E um visa para os EUA? Quase impossivel!

  • I just think that maybe this show would have done it like maybe 15 years ago. It´s beautiful, but old fashioned. And, oh my god, "If I said I loved you" is a great, great duet.

  • I just think that maybe this show would have done it like maybe 15 years ago. It´s beautiful, but old fashioned. And, oh my god, "If I said I loved you" is a great, great duet.

  • stephanie j. block is a broadway goddess!

  • You have good taste

  • how did this close and legally blond is still open??? this looks soooo good!

  • i agree with you that SJB is heavenly. *sigh* and your user name is totes cramazing btw

  • It was wonderful, the Music is Exelent, and I cant sem to get enough of the CD. Some of the songs changed but I saw it before it went on Broadway. and I just Loved it So much. If it ever reappears, I'll be the first one to get tickets!!

  • i wish i could have seen it on broadway, i was so excited when i first heard about it. i agree with u if it ever comes back im def getting tickets!!

  • ha 'have another smash on their hands' has only 85 performances

  • i got to see this show in the preview days in chicago. i really wish it hadn't closed.

  • THE SHOW CLOSED?!

  • STEPH IS SOO AMAZING!!! i wish i had seen this show in the short time it was open :(

Oh well. I was at least fortunate enough to see her play Elphaba in Wicked this past Dec. (SHE WAS PHENOMENAL!! She keeps getting better and better) Love Steph :)

  • She actually pierces my soul. Like Wow.

  • eeww... it's loribeth dinburhg...

I love the dancing! I wish I could do that!

  • Stephanie is so beautiful.

  • It's such a pity this show closed so quickly. Both of them are so incredible (listen to him on those top notes: holy cow!! :0P) and the rest of the cast looks great, too. I would have really enjoyed seeing this live :0) Thank you for sharing this!

  • the pirate queen was awesome. period. seriously, hadley fraser blew it out of the ball park for me, and stephanie j. block is fantastic too

  • no it was TERRIBLE! idk, maybe if you like all that riverdance stuff but i wasnt expecting so much cheesy irish dancing. and the queen sung like her tounge was stuck to the roof of her mouth, stephanie was amazing, however, and so was the blonde villian, was his name donnel?

  • I saw her in Wicked a few weeks ago and she knocked it outta the park...Why did the Pirate Queen ever close? Was it not good?

  • Politics between the producers of PQ and Young Frankenstein. that's what most of us think.

  • I love Stephanie. Her voice is amazing, but I don't think songs like this one really show off her voice. I thk the lyrics are kind of unusual. I really hope I can see her in Wicked again though and I'm very excited to see her do 9 to 5 with Megan Hilty.

  • I Tried To Download Some Songs But i cant find them.. anyone know where i can get the songs besides itunes?

  • they just put it on itunes... this song is called woman

  • i love this! i wish i could have seen it live! i love the dancing. the lord of the dance: it's amazing!

  • Miss Stephanie J. Block is...

    An amazing singer.

    An amazing actress.

The grace of stage in pretty much every show she does.

    Shall I go on?

  • she was great in Wicked

  • They both have similar hair. lol.

  • i can't find the video of because i am a wife ANYWHERE! was it removed?!

  • the song is on the cast recording.. track 3.. called woman.. this is a medley

  • Is the song Because I am a Wife on itunes...i can't find it?

  • The song got cut from the Broadway production. I don't know if you'll be able to find it anywhere.

  • there is a few great videos of "because i am a wife" on youtube.

  • i know there used to be but i cant find them anymore!!!!!!!!!!! grrr.

  • i read somewhere on a different video that actor's equity removed a lot of the movies from the previews. blast.

  • uhh, i wish there were more videos...do you think it will ever come back on broadway?

  • oh, pshh. idk. it better. it MAY get a quick revival. that happens SOMETIMES. it's rare. i think it's happened a few times, i can't think of any examples though. lol. it may get a nat'l tour or something though. let's keep our fingers crossed!

  • Sounds good! thanks again for your help.

  • Its happening with "CATS" right now except its just going on tour. I read somewhere that the Chicago production on broadway right now is a revival. I dont know either. but you're right. revivals are rare....pretty muchg after a show closes its up to HS, college and community productions to put on the shows.

  • i loved it on broadway and my gosh she was amazing i love her so much . im just waiting to see what she will do next for this was great for me and so was her as Elphaba but not as good as Idina but almost

  • I love this broadway and her voice gave me the chills on cd and here now.....no wonder she is playing elphaba on broadway now--she has a powerful voice

  • I am soo happy That I saw it before it close it was omgosh the best ever

  • I have no idea why this closed. To be honest their are worst things on Broadway in need of closing *coughcoughLegallyBlonde*

I think this was just held to too high of standards. :/

  • Thank you, I'm so glad somebody else thinks Legally Blonde is an atrocious piece of theatre, if it can even be called that.

  • I hope this is resurrected some day. We didn't get a chance to see it!

Set the critics afloat on a small iceberg.

  • i want to see it too, I just now recently heard about it. I hope there is a revival SOON!

  • SHE IS AWESOME!! Oh, and his voice? I so got chills!! Dancing was spectactular and I agree completely with thegreengirl1. This shouldn't have closed!

  • The show should not have closed. Period.

  • I'm not familiar with this one, but i remember hearing the name on the Tony's(or somewhere) and all the comments hear pretty much say the same thing, Great music different/weird/weak(take your pick) storyline, can anyone give me a quick plot?

  • I agree, I would love to know the plot if someone wouldn't mind summarizing it.

  • It did make it to broadway but it only lasted 2 months. i cant see why cos I think its brilliant, well the music anyway, i havnt seen the full show

  • the music was great but i heard that plot was completely lacking

it was a flop on broadway but the music was good

  • i wish this made it to broadway :(

  • The mood of the book wasn't so sappy.

  • The music was amazing, the storyline lacked toward the end, I think Linda Balgord was actually really good. It sucked that it went off because it was such a beautiful musical...but people who are fans of the creators spent their money on les miserables down the street figuring this would last. This seems to be occuring with alot of shows, it's a combination of bad release days and compition.

  • the music was amazing, but the storyline was a little weak. Oh and the girl that played queen elisabeth sounded FREAKY.

  • I like Stephanie J. sad it wasn't a "hit" guess rosie was wrong....The music sounds great...

  • What do you mean?????

  • Well I guess it's good for you that it only ran for two months.

  • oh god....sjb...marry me. her voice is orgasmic.

  • Steph J is such a ham. Now she's back in Wicked.

    sheesh

  • well the role was written for her...

  • Let me take a guess and say she's playing Elphaba, right?

  • proof that talent reallt truly exists. incredible.

  • i love this show, stephanie j. block is amazing

  • stephanie is one of my favourite musical theatre performers. shes just perfect. amazing. and hes totally amazing too!

  • I thought it was werid that they closed becsoue they could not sell enoght tickest but when I wnt to go and see it on Brodway i was told they where sold out and I go there and at least 1/2 the seats where empty.
