I'm going to live my life like a REAL original, eccentric: I will have NO tattoos. What's better than saying you never caved in to this stupid ass fad? This to me is the equivalent of wearing Ralph Lauren - total BS for people who really have nothing creative to offer themselves.
ehhh, i guess you have to be obsessed with them to get them on your head, damn that..... you got a good payin job, or own your own buisness to get them....
@waistedaway There are quite a number of people who would love to get prominent tattoos. However, they can't because of job or community pressures. The obsession with tattoos has caused me to realize to what extent we are slaves to others. We have to be "good slaves" with the proper look for quite a few jobs and employers. Whether you like tattoos or not the bottom line is that few people are truly free, or even in charge of their own thoughts when it comes right down to it.
bollocks to that mate. that must've hurt like flip. I have a very low pain tolerance, but somehow managed to get 50+ hours worth of tattooing over the years.
Cool tattoo, Tom. I have both arms sleeved, a back piece, upper chest, and a few tattoos on my legs. I haven't worked up the courage for the neck/head tattoos yet. That's takes some serious commitment. But, once you get that first tattoo is in our blood and you have to have more. Congrats on an awesome piece!
m8 thats gotta hurt i have my elbow and knuckles done and that killed i cant imagine getting the side of my head done but like u i cant get enough of getting inked so ill propely b in ur place getting it done in a couple of yrs time
@Mastermitz91 Thanks for your comment -- I appreciate it whether you believe me or not. Be thankful you don't have a similar obsession. The results of a tattoo obsession must be lived with 24/7. Church people and little kids stare. Once I was in Alabama in a tiny truck stop restaurant and one of those church people started preaching loudly to his grandson about the evils of tattoos. I ignored grandpa and went about my business but it was interesting to be verbally spat upon. You from Alabama?
@tomwiles lol, thats fair enough and im not judging you for getting it, im just giving my opinion, i myself do have tattoos also so i can understand the obsession you reffered to, and no i am not from alabama
Wow Tom you have an amazing threshold for some serious pain. I cannot imagine that is very good feeling. I like the new tattoo though. However I am still a fan of the eyes!! Great vid!
Doesn't hurt nearly as bad as you would think. The absoulte most painful tattoo I've ever gotten is the big one right on my stomach. Everything above the collar has been fairly reasonable, which was a huge surprise for me. I have a problem -- the idea of being "finished" getting more tattoos seems to be pretty meaningless for me. I'll probably finish when I run out of room !!!
Cool video, that must be a painfull spot to get inked, when it starts to scab over it must be pretty uncomfortable too, but the end result looks great, it al worth it in the end, i like your truck tattoo, i have a KW T-600 on my right arm, i must admit tattoos are adictive, i think i will get another soon.
Actually any tattoo above the collar usually heals incredibly fast due to the fact that the head in general has a fantastic blood supply because of the brain. A tattoo anywhere else can take up to three weeks to heal. Lower legs are usually the slowest to heal in my experience. If you ever end up getting a tattoo in a place that can't be easily covered up, watch out, you'll end up looking like me!!!
Have you ever thought of getting tattooed by that Kay Vod D girl on L.A. Ink? I remember them asking people to send in their request, for people wanting tats.
So is the skull done yet? How much further in ya going to go? Pretty cool you got that on video.
Actually no. If you look at the Discovery/TLC website for the "Ink" shows people have to pay their own way to either Miami or L.A. as well as pay for the tattoos IF you are selected. Even if you get selected for a tattoo then there's no guarantee you will make it on the air. They likely film hundreds of hours of video that gets edited down into one episode. If you can come up with some really emotional story as to the meaning behind the tattoo, you stand a better chance of making it on the air.
YA!!! I noticed that. I would love to see some people walk in, get a tattoo and not walk out crying about how their dad died or some other tragedy. Not that those emotions are not important but its like watching Opera at times.
Hey Road82, do you mean Opera, or Oprah? Like in Winfrey? Damn, either one can make me cry sometimes. As can really scarry, uh, really scary lookin' men! lol! So, how much Jack Daniels does it take to obliviate the pain of a thousand needles burning into your skull?
Sorry, I don't drink. I've never liked the taste of alcohol so I've always stayed completely away from it. Besides that, it's a myth that alcohol kills pain -- it does not. I think it probably ends up making people bleed excessively. Most tattoo shops will immediately eject someone that tries to come in that's been drinking, drunks spell trouble.
They have a formula figured out for the Discovery/TLC "Ink" shows. They come up with some syrupy sentimental story as the motivation and meaning for each tattoo. Actually, the "Ink" shows are performing a tremendous public service educating the public at large about tattoos and making them far more acceptable. I'm seeing them show up in prominent places on grandmotherly types -- also the number of questions/comments I get has steadily gone down over the past couple of years.
Actually, I don't think of it in the same category as a root canal or even dental work in general. There's something very mideval and unpleasant about having someone dig around inside your mouth and/or give you a shot of anesthesia in the gums. When I was a kid at least one dentist gave me a shot of anesthesia in the back roof of my mouth that I swore felt like it went up into my nasal cavity.
That's pretty funny because I'm always throwing people for a loop. My personality is about 180 degrees out of phase with my appearance. I promise I don't bite. Heck, I don't even pretend to nip!!!
I understand. I have 5 tattoos myself and I am afflicted with the addiction, I just don't act on it right now. I would love to get another tattoo or two. At the moment, I need to be careful on where I put the tattoos...tattoos just don't go with my professional side at the moment. Take care Tom and be safe...I really mean that.
I was watching the my LCD screen out of the corner of my eye to make sure I had the camera aimed properly holding it up with my left hand about 20 inches away from the action. I've also got pictures of both tattoos (I also got one on the other side of my head just before this one) at truckertomphotos dotcom.
It didn't hurt as bad as you might think. This tattoo is of a lion's head and sword. Why the head? My neck is completely covered with tattoos along with the back of my head, so I figured more ink on my head would just be mre ink an already heavily inked head and neck. I'll be honest in saying I'm obsessed with tattoos in the same way other people are obsessed with a wide variety of other things. Unless you have a tattoo obsession it's not possible for me to adequately explain it.

Yup, I've had a dentist who managed to not only numb my nasal cavities, but it felt like half of my head got bumb..uh dumb..uh, numb.
Yup...numb. Like drooling out of one side of my mouth for 122 hours numb. No offense, but I think if I saw you in person, I'd be sceeered.
