I still don't understand why one needs to promote a different law which is flawed, when you already have a sound divorce law which any woman in the UK or any other civilised country has access to.
Maybe her campaign to change laws should be taken to the countries that do not have the proper laws as Dr.Nazreen pointed out in the last minute of this show.
Where do they get their demographics from? Its seems as though there speaking from personal experience with the exclusion of their original home land. I do believe that the media do play a large part on how they're viewed. I just don't care for the manipulation of choice under the guise of religion. I was interested in hearing how the muslim lady would answer Joan Bakewell's question on what happens if a muslim woman wants to leave her religion. This question was shamefully dodged and, unfortunately, the very non-confrontational Joan Bakewell did not pursue the question. Why was this question dodged? Could it have anything to do with the fact that apostacy in muslim controlled countries is punishable by death?
What I ask myself all the time . why these people don't stay at their home country. I personally don't care if they're civilized or not. or they want to cover their hair or not. as long as they stay away from our countries. There's an invasion of theses peiople here in europe . we never invited them to come here.Just stay where you are. Western people do NOT want Islamic values forced on us. If people want to live under sharia, then they need to live in countries where this is practiced.
Don't come to the West insisting on sharia laws here. You have the right to live here and worship, only as far as it does not impose on others. That is part of our value system and our law in the West.
I think that we hear broken records of how Saudi and Iran are 'Islamic states' implementing the sharia that is called for by groups. Simply put they are not Islamic states, they are a Persian state and an Arab state using Islam when they want it and not using it as they see fit. Any objective study of the two states would prove this beyond doubt.

"It is very common for a Saudi woman - a widow or a divorcee - to have her young son as her guardian, and she needs his written permission to carry out official paperwork. He is in control of her life and her destiny."
Equality can be seen two different context in this particular debate one that is define from Secularism and the other from the devine rules. Your question dear presopres can only be answered once you have clarified which one of these context you put your case forward?
aamirkarim: You seem fascinated with the word 'liar'.
But calling someone a liar doesn't address the FACTS that they are bringing to your attention, does it? Either you are woefully ignorant of the status of women in Sharia dominated societies, or you just don't want Western people to know the TRUTH.
i m not fascinated with it but i cant help calling a liar a liar; what do u want me to do call a dog a cat; say 1+1+1=1 like u crstns; holy ghost; christ; god = 1?? i dont even need an explanation from u on this; u can go and give it to ur crstn brethren who r leaving crstnty; becz it makes no sense to em
what the heck is 'western people', i find it amusing people use words like 'western' to create some sort of separate identity when there isn't any. the 'west' whatever that means is just as diverse as anywhere else in the world.
la-la, by Western, in this case, I mean 'non-muslim'. I am referring to your tendancy to deny or sugar-coat areas of Islam that you know would be offensive to non-muslims(such as institutionally sanctioned wife-abuse or the disparity in rights between Muslim men and women) in order to continue to propogate Islam as a 'religion of peace'.
fazzamin, why did you call LilyDD an anti Islam bigot? Did her giving you the benefit of the doubt by assuming that you are a 'moderate muslim' insult you?
You know very well that a woman can be beaten by her husband or stoned to death under Sharia. You know that if she is raped, she will likely be sentenced to be lashed, since her testimony is worth only one-fourth that of a man's under Sharia law.
Is this the 'totality of Islam' that you embrace?
liar; so electric chair; hanging till death; lethal injections ring a bell inside ur head; an islamic society has the least crimes and is the most peaceful and flourishing society in the world; under the sharia a women can be beaten lightly; so that she may not be hurt; to express anger; man is the leader of family; ur rape comment is a lie
Remember Thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the believers, I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them."
The west is starting to know islam better than you would like. We're starting to see how koran and hadiths are used as an 'excuse' for violence. It doesn't even matter whether you agree, you might be a nice, moderate muslim. But the violence-inspiring verses are there, you can't deny it.
im not a moderate muslim; there is no "moderatism" in islam; i believe in every fundamental of islam and will till the day i die. i dont hide behind moderatism; its a facade and i agree. I believe in the totality of islam; its a peaceful religion as far as the time calls for it, but is not absolutely peaceful when attacked and desecrated; there are limits for everything. however, its not as you make out either, for you are anti-islam bigot.
Sure, if it's 'bigotry' to want to live in a secular democracy as a free woman, to have equal rights with men and wear what I'm comfortable in, to know that my gay friends are safe, to live in a country where muslims who want to leave islam can do so safely.
Call that bigotry? Funny, I'd call it bigotry to force non-muslims to live as dhimmis, to not allow women equal rights with men, to execute gays and stone adulterers... But I guess that's just my prejudice.
BTW Fazzamin, thanks for replying - it's great to have these conversations so publicly. The more awareness about the threat of islamism, the better.
Fascinating that *you*, not I said that moderatism is 'a facade'. I've never taken that stance myself, hoping that moderate muslims who wanted to reform the religion did exist. It would be sad indeed if all wanted sharia and oppression of non-muslims.
and whats the great act of violence muslims are involved in? u mean the WMD's; or 9-11 inside job; learn something child; lying dosnt puts u in good light u know

Death. Other religions and atheism are not permitted in islam.

Koran 8:12
Remember Thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the believers, I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them."

Stop being stupid liliDD, stop quoting verses out of context and thinking you know islam inside out. Fool

Oh dear. Well, what if they wanted to just be a christian or jew?
Second-class citizen life as a dhimmi.

Oh, what if they wanted to leave islam?
Death for apostasy.

What if they had a premarital relationship?
100 lashes.

Q: what if in an islamic community someone want more freedom, doesn't accept the islamic values? (e.g. a gay relationship)
Correct answer: death by stoning.
These two islamic women enjoy all the freedoms of the west. If they want sharia law, they should live in Iran or Saudi Arabia. Simple.
