The bible wasn't saying he brings an actual sword, but because we believe in Jesus, Christians may even be persecuted even by their own family. The bible wasn't saying he brings an actual sword, but because we believe in Jesus, Christians may even be persecuted even by their own family. In Matthew 10:21 -22 says "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved."

Actually, whoever wrote Leviticus was trying to justify slavery, probably because they owned slaves themselves.
When will people who read the Bible understand that it was written by 'mortals', and thus is susceptible to their desires and biases as much as any other work of writing.
Also, it's gone through so many translations over the millennia, that nobody really knows what the original words were.

America was made on Christian values. Its fathers opened and closed each meeting in prayer and used scripture to help in writing the constitution. This Country has slowly gone done hill ever since seperation of Church and State. We will continue to go downhill as long as we throw out values and live only for the flesh. We are wallowing in the worst economic disasters of my generation on top of being at war...and THIS is what they waste their efforts on.....Do nothing but bitch about the steps Democrats are taking to fix these issues and come up with NO solutions of their own...but Year of the Bible...omg...can't NOT have a year for the bible....how devastating would that be?! *roll eyes* Anyone asks why the Republican party is in it's death throws, here's your answer...
