Well yeah it can get that bad. Its how you look at it. For seven years I lived in the UK, and its funny how the locals never referred to England being my home. When I re-visited America, they'd always say, 'So you going home, now?' Sometimes they tease you, but there have been some british who acted malicious just because I was born in America. Its not a melting pot nation like the USA. They have cliques they belong to.
But England has its good and bad points. I've made some friends, and sadly I made some enemies because of the comments they made about America.

Love em or hate the brits, I made some good friends, namely my wife. We lived in North Yorkshire near Malton. They are a nice people, but the cost of living is very high. I wanted to leave my native Pennsylvania because it made me mental, but UK taxation made me even more mental. Its a beautiful place to visit, and the people are nice. But I recommend you stay in California. You'll have more freedom. UK government is losing touch with its people. Unemployment high.

If you are going to move to the UK, I'd recommend North Yorkshire. It is the biggest county in England, and they are more accepting of foreigners. But whatever you do, stay away from the Scots. Overcharging people is like a Scottish tradition. They will charge you twice as much for their services than their English counterparts.

Well I am not happy that our government is borrowing the amount of money that it is either, so I'll let that one go, but England didn't do ANYTHING in the American Civil War. The Confederacy wanted English help, but they didn't get it because the war tipped in favor of the Union. And if anything, England held the colonies back with its mercantile policies. Well yeah it can get that bad. Its how you look at it. For seven years I lived in the UK, and its funny how the locals never referred to England being my home. When I re-visited America, they'd always say, 'So you going home, now?' Sometimes they tease you, but there have been some british who acted malicious just because I was born in America. Its not a melting pot nation like the USA. They have cliques they belong to.

I have a love/hate relationship with England. I mean my wife is English, and she's fine with me. So are her friends. But some people like to label Americans as big headed arrogant overweight yanks. When they say things like this, I think it is very rude and inappropriate. I never once labeled or judged them.

Love em or hate the brits, I made some good friends, namely my wife. We lived in North Yorkshire near Malton. They are a nice people, but the cost of living is very high. I wanted to leave my native Pennsylvania because it made me mental, but UK taxation made me even more mental. Its a beautiful place to visit, and the people are nice. But I recommend you stay in California. You'll have more freedom. UK government is losing touch with its people. Unemployment high.

Also freedoms: other way round now. UK government is to scrap some of the previous government's attacks on liberties, whereas U.S. has the Patriot Act that trashed the U.S. constitution, and the TSA has introduced "enhanced pat downs" (sexual abuse) of men, women, and even kids at airports

Here are the negatives of the UK:
1) Stricter laws than in the US--more arrestable offences for very minor things.
2) Extreme cost of living (Hard to get credit, and difficult to get a mortgage)
3) Several unelected officials running government
4) Taxation to the extreme
5) Extremely High unemployment. Non-EU nationals have a hard time getting employment in the UK. Americans are seldom employed in the UK.
.6) As an American, you might feel like a second class citizen.

If you are going to move to the UK, I'd recommend North Yorkshire. It is the biggest county in England, and they are more accepting of foreigners. But whatever you do, stay away from the Scots. Overcharging people is like a Scottish tradition. They will charge you twice as much for their services than their English counterparts.

Well I am not happy that our government is borrowing the amount of money that it is either, so I'll let that one go, but England didn't do ANYTHING in the American Civil War. The Confederacy wanted English help, but they didn't get it because the war tipped in favor of the Union. And if anything, England held the colonies back with its mercantile policies. The colonies did very well governing themselves. Try reading the Declaration of Independence to see what England "did for us".
