totally agree with you guys.that audience tanks.that was an amazing performance,if people cant party on that i dont know what will get them to have a good time
Zagastaroth I wouldn't say that, not if we're talking about the same president. Is this not the B.O. who threatened to invade Iran and who continues to fund Israels genocide on the Palestinian people Weather Zionists in power are pulling strings in the background or not dosen't matter because he is still willing to carry out their dirty work . It's so clear now what's happening and there's no excuse anymore, People need to take a stand and stop pretending they know nothing about whats happening
Disappointed that they even played for the snobs of the whitehouse!. While they wine and dine in the whitehouse, ordinary people are tortured and murdered in Iraq and Afghanistan under the orders of fat pigs like these sitting comfortably in their suits. Providing entertainment for the very people who supply israel with bombs to murder innocent children in Gaza and indeed the rest of Palestine. I must say I lost a lot of respect for JD and Liz Carroll!
@sladgeh That sounds a bit one-sided. One could just as validly say they’re playing for B.O., who is much more temperate than his predecessor on the social kind of topics you’re mentioning. Or that they feel like they’re playing for the freshly inaugurated, first black president, thus expressing their support of a victory against racism. Also, given this was on St. Patricks day 2009, the moment could have been one of expectations for change for the better now the more bellicose Bush had gone.
I suspect the crowd enjoyed the performance. They're probably just used to performances staying in the background -- keyboard jazz -- at those dinners.
Most of those snobs aren't even giving these awesome musicians their attention. You are supposed to cheer when they switch into that awesome minor tune. They didn't even notice. I am not a fan of Obama, but at least he gave his full attention to them and acted as though he enjoyed this.
What a wasted, soulless useless collection of human detritus they're forced to play in front of. I'd rather have a sister in a whorehouse than a relative who's a politician. Come to think of it... Anyhow, whoever called this "pearls before swine" is absolutely correct.
Great performance. A shame about the crowd. Some people don't know how lucky they are. Even if they don't like that type of music, how could you not notice that level of talent.
I agree with those mentioning it is a pity to see the soulless reaction of these people to such great music. How can you not move your head or smile? I'd love to see politicians who get moved by music, they would get my vote...
at any rate, great to see Liz and John playing there.
Just goes to show the puppets of the world cant even have an opinion on the music themselves because they wherent told what to think yet. And the fat one just keeps eating. The have no idea how lucky they are to be in a room with individuals such as liz and john.
amazing piece its so full as if there was 10 people up there. 5 stars
Great playing but this video is hard to watch cause of all the bald heads reflecting the light and the people walking in front of the camera...yikes you'd think the President could ensure the video person could get a decent view. Better to just listen and shut your eyes on this one.
Awesome as usual for Liz & John! Too bad we had to mainly watch two people stuffing their faces and having big Washington noggins, wait staff and photographers getting in front of the camera! Seriously, could they not have gotten a better camera position for the poor videographer??
you are so right....I played at a festival in Ms with her this weekend...She and Daithi Sproule were there as Trian....phenomenal...just bloody brilliant!
If I was there I would leaping up and down and singing my heart out lol. They are amazing. I am like their biggest fan. People need to get into this music more lol x
I got to meet Liz Carroll in Madison, WI at a party after she played there as part of Trian. What a classy lady. BTW if you haven't heard her with String Sisters, check them out - she plays with Mairéad NÍ Mhaonaigh, Emma Härdelin, Liz Knowles, Catriona Macdonald, and Annbjørg Lien.
I really enjoyed the playing of these great artists. So nice to see Irish fiddle in the White House too! It was sad to see that many of the politicians seemed more interested in the food, it was as if the artistry was beyond them. I think even if it's not your style of music, take a moment to listen! Obama was gracious and seemed to appreciate the music.
Incredible sound coming from just two instruments. President Obama respected the players by paying attention to them and not the stuffed shirts in the room. Well done!
Some of them did actually seem to enjoy it

Anyone know the name of the one starting at 2.45, it's a quare tune! It's such a shame that this performance is so obviously wasted on the audience.

Pity that it totally went over the heads and hearts of the people there. Didn't see anyone grooving to it. Maybe it's not cool to react. Their loss.
