@TheDastard Well after hearing a lot of ranting that's either to be taken seriously or just played for laughs, its hard to tell how to take either way serious anymore these days. Honestly, I just enjoy fighting games as more of something with my friends, never for tournament play. But I think it dials down to "To each is their own". Some like the changes, others don't. deception is the only one i liked on the ps2. deadly alliance "story mode" was terrible and pointless unless you want blaze, Armageddon really had no people to unlock but 4 and the story took me a whole 3 hours. deception actually had you to do certain things at a certain time to unlock people and other things and thats why i liked it. going through and learning everyone's moves was a bitch to do though.

@kea919306 Honestly, you're most likely rubbish if you had problems with fallout new vegas. I put the difficulty on max the first thing I did in the game and also had the hardcode mode on(very fun addition btw) and I only died about four-five times during the playthrough.
New vegas was SUPPOSED to be a world where you have to beware when you go out in the wasteland, the same applies for fallout. you're SUPPOSED to be in a ruined world where the mutans shred travelers.

@joahkun You do realize Power Rangers is aimed for kids, right? If you want to watch a more "mature" version of it, watch Super Sentai. That is a show they've been copying since Zyuranger (basis of MMPR series 1). While the special effects are still cheesey, it's more mature and people do bleed. Plus monsters are more sadistic.

@joahkun Check out Jetman and Dairanger (Which is the basis of MMPR series 2 despite not using the suits). Those are dark, plus Ryuranger (Red Ranger from Dairanger) acts like Jet Li while the one in MMPR series 2 is pushed to the side to whore out the sixth ranger.

I can honestly say I didn't mind the inability to choose a character in story (and challenge tower) mode. It helped me learn who has the cheapest moves (basically everyone who teleports and Sub Zero) I personally prefer Scorpion and, if I had to choose a second character, Kano, Kitana or Liu Kang. But Fatality-wise, I'm all about Kabal and Smoke

I agree about the character chapters. I talked about that in my own story mode review. (under a different account) Either give us that, or do a variety of characters that you switch back and forth between that would give you, the developers more freedom when designing the story mode.

If you don't want to play as every character don't fucking play story mode, you dipshit. This review is a failure. You're complaining about having to learn more than one character, then complaining about the combo system being "TOO COMPLICATED WAHHHH". Give me a fucking break, i learned combos from multiple characters within hours of playing the game...if you only play as ONE character like you claim there is no reason you shouldn't be able to learn their combos.
The entire complaint about the combos is that they're pre-made, and therefore TOO SIMPLE. The exact opposite of too complex. You should watch videos that are more your speed. I hear there's plenty of room on the Irate Gamer's subscriber list. Run along, now.

You do know there is an Arcade mode right, Though the story mode in my opinion was a great addition for those that wanted a game with single player content, that is lacking in a lot of fighters these days. Though as a counter argument, I can't quiet shake the idea that not telling a gamer how to do things (spite my love for Killer Instinct back in the day) and people having to "buy" a strategy guide, to figure out things like the "combo" lists in alpha is no different then just handing me the
move list outright. It's bad game design and lazy if the gamer isn't given a rail road at some point, or direction, or a goal. Shall I remind you of a another classic that the AVGN got his humble start with, Simon's Quest?
Why would you choose your own character....in a story with set canon....? That's like saying you'd rather play as Zeus instead of Kratos in God of War, even though that would change the story entirely.
When there's a set story telling you the canon of what's going on, picking your own character in the individual chapters would essentially wreck that. You want to pick your own character to get their individual "what if" ending? PLAY ARCADE LADDER. And you made a TERRIBLE comparison with SF Alpha, as ,ironically enough, the 1st SFA game has button link chain combos. You're also complaining about how easy X-Rays are, when in fact, you're using the shortcut. The actual command is block+3+4
Wow! I can't believe how much I disagree with you on this one. The story was awesome, and covered the entire MK lore. Also, you can choose your own fighter during the arcade mode where you fight through the tournament as one fighter. The story mode is just icing on the cake. Also, the X-Ray attack is meant to be defended. The only thing I agree with you about are the juggles, which are bullshit but unfortunately a pitfall of many fighters. And finally, Angry Joe is awesome, just like this game.

The X-ray attacks may deal a lot of damage, but like many have said they can be avoided and even countered and besides, they're down right tame compared to SF's ultra combos, KOF's max cancel combos and BlazBlue's distortion and astral moves. Okay, I admit that's just my opinion....btw have you heard that CAPCOM is trying to make people buy MvC3 again? This time it's called Ultimate Marvel vs CAPCOM 3.
@junkylake Blazblue's distortion drives require you to actually do well in order to perform them, and don't do anywhere near the ~40% that X-ray moves and ultra combos do. And astral heats are finishing moves that REQUIRE you to be a combo away from victory anyway.

@coolbman2 There are plenty of advanced technique's, as you still hsve to learn combo resets, extenders, and much more. Punishing is very prominent here, and footsies I don't know about.

There's so many things that I remember were safe and spam-able such as block strings and some moves. The game has 0 footsies that's a fact. It's still VERY user friendly at least admit that it's the CoD of fighting games.
@coolbman2 A special that makes the combo longer that doesnt reset it is a extender, the factory made combo's still have specific situations where their useful, Striker can punish anything, just like scorpion, almost alway because of their fast projectiles, and you can punish any teleport. I don't know what footsies are, and it's user friendly, but not to the point of being COD user friendly
I do like the idea of a energy bar to upgrade special moves, like when you a regular move but press block at the same time, but X-Ray attack is balls. Yeah, they're avoidable but they shouldn't exist in the first place. Otherwise, I love this MK. The sexiness is a little overboard. Seriously, when your female characters have bigger tits than the DOA series women, they're a problem. Oh well, sexually frustrated teens don't have DOA to fap to anymore, guess MK is trying to take it's place.

2. SF isn't a button masher AT ALL.
3. I'd say that Blazblue's story is better than MK's hands down. not to say it's really that hard to do...
4. the fact that you can end a combo with a move that deals ~40% health by simply pressing two buttons is the most retarded thing I've ever heard of. In terms of balance I'd say that NRS should make the fatalities L+R2 while x-rays should be the complex movements.

As a fan of Bloody Roar, I would have to ask if there were any fantastically easy ways to avoid Xray moves. To me, making special attacks insanely accessible is acceptable as long as the means to counter them are also cock-smashingly simple to do as well. So far, I can't see that being possible in most modern fighting games these days, especially in street fighter where easy to spam specials seem to win the day when the means to defend against them are limited as fuck.
My favorite character has always been Johnny Cage and this is the first game, in awhile, that he isn't a complete faggot in. He even gets Guile's flash kick. I also liked his arcade ending.

When a SP game becomes too damn difficult like the broken system in new vegas it puts a level between the immersion and the player

@kea919306 Honestly, you're most likely rubbish if you had problems with fallout new vegas. I put the difficulty on max the first thing I did in the game and also had the hardcode mode on(very fun addition btw) and I only died about four-five times during the playthrough.
New vegas was SUPPOSED to be a world where you have to beware when you go out in the wasteland, the same applies for fallout. you're SUPPOSED to be in a ruined world where the mutans shred travelers.

@kea919306 Cont; He exxagerated with the death claw bit, there are only two areas in the game crowded with deathclaws, first is a mine and the second is on the easy road to new vegas, they're there so you can easily instantly waltz in there.

I couldnt enjoy skyrim OR oblivion because I felt no real progression in my character. Whenever I leveled up everyone around me leveled. There was nothing to look up to. Nothing to fear. @joahkun You do realize Power Rangers is aimed for kids, right? If you want to watch a more "mature" version of it, watch Super Sentai. That is a show they've been copying since Zyuranger (basis of MMPR series 1). While the special effects are still cheesey, it's more mature and people do bleed. Plus monsters are more sadistic.

@joahkun Check out Jetman and Dairanger (Which is the basis of MMPR series 2 despite not using the suits). Those are dark, plus Ryuranger (Red Ranger from Dairanger) acts like Jet Li while the one in MMPR series 2 is pushed to the side to whore out the sixth ranger.

I can honestly say I didn't mind the inability to choose a character in story (and challenge tower) mode. It helped me learn who has the cheapest moves (basically everyone who teleports and Sub Zero) I personally prefer Scorpion and, if I had to choose a second character, Kano, Kitana or Liu Kang. But Fatality-wise, I'm all about Kabal and Smoke

I agree about the character chapters. I talked about that in my own story mode review. (under a different account) Either give us that, or do a variety of characters that you switch back and forth between that would give you, the developers more freedom when designing the story mode.

You're complaining about having to learn more than one character, then complaining about the combo system being "TOO COMPLICATED WAHHHH". When there's a set story telling you the canon of what's going on, picking your own character in the individual chapters would essentially wreck that. You want to pick your own character to get their individual "what if" ending? PLAY ARCADE LADDER. And you made a TERRIBLE comparison with SF Alpha, as ,ironically enough, the 1st SFA game has button link chain combos. You're also complaining about how easy X-Rays are, when in fact, you're using the shortcut. The actual command is block+3+4

Wow! I can't believe how much I disagree with you on this one. The story was awesome, and covered the entire MK lore. Also, you can choose your own fighter during the arcade mode where you fight through the tournament as one fighter. The story mode is just icing on the cake. Also, the X-Ray attack is meant to be defended. The only thing I agree with you about are the juggles, which are bullshit but unfortunately a pitfall of many fighters. And finally, Angry Joe is awesome, just like this game.

The X-ray attacks may deal a lot of damage, but like many have said they can be avoided and even countered and besides, they're down right tame compared to SF's ultra combos, KOF's max cancel combos and BlazBlue's distortion and astral moves. Okay, I admit that's just my opinion....btw have you heard that CAPCOM is trying to make people buy MvC3 again? This time it's called Ultimate Marvel vs CAPCOM 3.

@junkylake Blazblue's distortion drives require you to actually do well in order to perform them, and don't do anywhere near the ~40% that X-ray moves and ultra combos do. And astral heats are finishing moves that REQUIRE you to be a combo away from victory anyway.

@junkylake Ultra combos arent two fucking buttons. Blazblues distortions are fine tager is really the only problem there. I'd rather buy UMvC3 6 times then play MK9 ever again. Im sorry but I like Fighting games that dont cater to my whiny scrub friends and little kids. @coolbman2 A special that makes the combo longer that doesnt reset it is a extender, the factory made combo's still have specific situations where their useful, Striker can punish anything, just like scorpion, almost alway because of their fast projectiles, and you can punish any teleport. I don't know what footsies are, and it's user friendly, but not to the point of being COD user friendly

I do like the idea of a energy bar to upgrade special moves, like when you a regular move but press block at the same time, but X-Ray attack is balls. Yeah, they're avoidable but they shouldn't exist in the first place. Otherwise, I love this MK. The sexiness is a little overboard. Seriously, when your female characters have bigger tits than the DOA series women, they're a problem. Oh well, sexually frustrated teens don't have DOA to fap to anymore, guess MK is trying to take it's place.

1. have the story play out from your characters perspective.
2. SF isn't a button masher AT ALL.
3. I'd say that Blazblue's story is better than MK's hands down. not to say it's really that hard to do...
4. the fact that you can end a combo with a move that deals ~40% health by simply pressing two buttons is the most retarded thing I've ever heard of. In terms of balance I'd say that NRS should make the fatalities L+R2 while x-rays should be the complex movements.

i didnt work so hard to MAKE my opponent life to 20% just so even the match by doing a simple command like
qcf x2 + ppp or r2 + L2 , there by increase chance of getting a easy comeback they didnt earn by working harder than me!

2. there are so many ways around hadoken spamming it's not even funny
3. blazblue's story, while not the best thing evarr is still miles ahead of any fighting game out there, in that it's more than AND THEN THERE WAS ANOTHER TOURNAMENT
4. if you just do an empty super, yes. but that would make you retarded and bad. if it's a combo ender, it still does rediculous damage even with proration.

As a fan of Bloody Roar, I would have to ask if there were any fantastically easy ways to avoid Xray moves. To me, making special attacks insanely accessible is acceptable as long as the means to counter them are also cock-smashingly simple to do as well. So far, I can't see that being possible in most modern fighting games these days, especially in street fighter where easy to spam specials seem to win the day when the means to defend against them are limited as fuck.

My favorite character has always been Johnny Cage and this is the first game, in awhile, that he isn't a complete faggot in. He even gets Guile's flash kick. I also liked his arcade ending.
