  • i should not go to my one hour thirty minutes apchem class but just watch this instead im serious thank you!!!

    is the online tutoring expensive?

  • @pigsbum53 10 bucks for 25 hours of video!

    Chemguy

  • the ending to this video sounded like a threat... haha. But really, I can tell your are a great teacher. Thanks for the help! I'm sure I'll be referring to your vids in the future.

  • wat makes them fast/slow and how can u tell???

  • Here, I have a question....

For the activation energy, I dont get how to get the slope.

do i just use the equation u wrote on board?

  • To get the activation energy you need to plot the natural log of k, the rate constant (y-axis) against one over the temperature in Kelvin (x-axis). Then get the slope of the line and multiply it b the constant, -R, where R is 8.3145 J.

  • Thank You So..o Much.

I'm trying to take the ap chem test, but I missed the chance to take the class.

our school's ap chem teacher has been discouraged me to take the test all the time.

And ur videos help me so...o much!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, u are such a good teacher+life saver!

  • You should make some vids to teach my teacher how to teach, sometimes i can't even comprehend what my teacher is trying to get at during her 1.5 hour lectures, it's very comforting to know that when i get home, i can watch a couple of your vids and ace the test because in usually about 15 minutes to half an hour i will have a much better and more full understanding thanks to you. If i get an A on my next test you're totally gonna get a generous donation. My teacher is nothing compared to you!=]

  • your a freaking life saver ... my teacher doesn't do any example problems she just talks n has her powerpoint ... im sad that you didnt explain half lifes because i dont understand those either but hopefully i can find a video on it as good as yours

  • Half life formulae are over-rated. Just use the first order integrated rate law expression any nuclear decay questions. If the equation has percentages, treat those as concentrations where [A]o is the 100% and [A] is the percent left at the particular time.

    Honest, it works.

    Chemguy

  • thanx

  • @bannanaiscool wow your vids are amazing, wayyyy better than my teachers lectures!! i do have a question though, is there any tell tale signs that indicate a second/zero order like the (s-1) for first order, and if the graph representing concentration vs time or the natural log vs time is exponential or curved instead of linear what does that represent? thanks again for the vids btw!

  • Thanks a lot for clearing up kinetics! I aced last quarter's midterm when I watched your videos and D'ed this quarter's midterm when I stopped.... hopefully I'll do better after this. :]

  • I kept hitting a wall in class regarding reaction rates/rate law/activation energy, but this cleared it up for me! Thanks so much- these videos are actually making chemistry interesting! I'll definitely be using these videos as refreshers, and also in the future- I've got two semesters of organic chem coming up.

  • Thank you so much. You're teaching style is awesome-ly effective.

  • Chemguy, Did I ever tell you that you're my hero?

  • alot of you guys might not notice, but the subtle things he mentions like about the chlorofluorines being harmful to the ozone are the kinds of things that randomly show up on the ap test....this guy is a pro.

  • I'm sure that your students are the best in chemistry. you are a truly model for all the teachers in the world and you should know that. thank you again. by the way I study medicine 1st year in Budapest.

  • And you are also very kind. Thank you for the encouragement.

    Chemguy

  • @david2131 I was born in Budapest :) But my AP chem class isn't very informative either.

  • i love you

  • i know right! we're all getting A's now lol.

  • Thank you so much! I can't believe I didn't search for chem help on YouTube sooner...

  • I can't believe I found you this late into the semester... Everything makes sense now!!!!

    Thank you!!!!

  • Why would somebody help us for free?

You are the best sire !!!

  • daam u made me actually like chemistry

  • amazing, i wish all of my chem teachers were half as good as you!

  • Thank you for sharing!

  • woah calculus!

  • Thank You very much once again. You're amazing,i love your method of delivering ur lecture,if only u're my chemistry lecturer,it would certainly never be the same again.

  • thank you very much for your explanation :) you are amazing teacher I whish if u are my teacher :).. you're one among others who deserve to be an university prof of teacher .. all best to u

  • you just made a dull subject interesting, thanks man by the way do you mind teaching us about bombs. please

  • ps: could you touch on half life?

  • You are amazing. When interviewed prof's should have to undergo some kind of personality test. My prof's are dull, complicate things, and have a hard time with the english language. Good job dude... keep it up!

  • me too , she is a russian and its pretty hard to understand her langugae as well as her explnation :(..

  • "so be careful" o.O''

srsly tho, ty so much for the help. Omly thing you didn't touch on was half life, but I think I can figure that out on my own. ^.^b

    Thanks!

  • Thank you soooooooo much! it makes sense now!

  • you are INCOMPARABLE to my professor who doesnt know how to even speak english. damn, you should have been in my univeristy, i would have never lost interest in chemistry

  • thank you so mych!..

    your the best!

I actuallyy understand chemical kinetics now!

    thank you so much

  • Thank you so much!!!! My teacher told us all the same stuff, but it never clicked. You explain so clear. You're my hero!!!!

  • Your explanations took less time than the lectures in my chem class.

  • I love this (chem)guy, he's wayyy better than my chem teacher right now. I actually hate chemistry because of them (2 AP chem teachers at my school).

  • A Note fro Chemguy:

Please don't pay any attention to the rate law I propose for the reaction. I put an intermediate in the rate law, and that's just not right! I apologize for that error!

  • Um...your profs are right, of course, because you never include an intermediate in the rate law; it cancels!

  • wow! i understood u very well oh great chemistry teacher!

my teacher is very good at chemistry and too he is really fun to learn from , but somtimes i dont understand as clearly but i dont want to blame him cus he really knows his stuff, but im glad u can teach us! wat u tought us is lik everything i reconized in my chem book!!!

    thanks u!!!!!

ps. u look lik my chemistry teacher mr. swift, but younger hahah

  • Thanks a lot for these videos. You have much more energy than my AP chem teacher who usually bores me to death.

  • thankyou SO MUCH!!!!!

    VERY helpful.

  • wooow this is sooo much better than class :oo

  • great. THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS. i have a test tomorrow in 8 hours! YOU'RE GREAT. THANKS

  • AP Exam is on Tuesday... can't wait lol!

  • I'm scared to death.

    I had a horrible teacher.

Thank the Lord for this man and his videos. I actually understand...mostly.

  • dedicated people rule the world....

  • please be my chemistry teacher.

  • no no, be my chem teacher. you are like the chemistry GOD. *kneels down and worships you* thank you for making these videos. too bad these videos dont have more views because they deserve them.

  • this guy is unbelievable. He explains it great. start at the beginning and go through it all and it is so much clearer than in class!

  • i agree!
