  • @Ohninjapleaze1 lol good luck in life, it must be hard to be angry / mad inside yourself all the time. God bless you.

  • @Ohninjapleaze1

You again. Still obsessing over my videos as you poor over your robotic translations. Sad little person. Thanks for giving me another view. Your quiet seething only reflects on your life. Good luck trying to spread it. You're like the wallflower looking in on the party hating us because we "think" we're having fun. Social misfit.

  • It's like this: The better you get at Japanese, the more the Japanese will hate you. Very advanced speakers will need to find a nice wall to talk to.

  • @Ohflautistpleaze

Yes, you speak the truth. It's amazing how correct you can be when it's so obvious you don't know what you're talking about. I am advanced and married to a Japanese yet when I speak to her it is the wall that responds. Amazing.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman

I have been laughing at your videos for years from the shadows. I think it would be best for you to save face and refrain from making statements about your own language ability. If you want to get my attention, translate at least 50,000 pages into English in a variety of technical fields, interpret at conferences, and REFUSE to speak English to Japanese nationals. For now, feel free to play the 見世物.

I would pick a wall over a 外専女 any day! But that's just me.

  • @Ohflautistpleaze

    LOL!

I'm glad I've helped brighten up your dark life. Why the shadows? Get some lighting. You can pick up lamps quite cheaply nowadays. Save face? Again I must laugh. Excuse me. LOL! Man I have thousands of videos up on here and on Nico Nico. If I have any face to be saved I think I lost that years ago.

  • @Ohflautistpleaze

    Part 2

I very briefly did a little of the work you refer to. Brain numbingly boring. It takes a special kind of person to translate that kind of very unsocial language. I can do newspapers and stories. Not that. Not sure why you would refuse to speak English. Is that big a deal? I can go on and on for days without speaking English. Hell I could pick from 3 languages but I don't find it anything to REFUSE to do. That's a bit odd.

  • @Ohflautistpleaze

    Part 3

So you think living here in Japan is akin to being in a freak show? That's sad for you. You are either very strange or live among very strange people. I'm treated quite normally.

As for women who only go for gaijin, I completely agree with you. I'd pick a wall as well.

  • @Ohflautistpleaze

    Part 4

Here's the sad fact. You and I both have subjective experiences here in Japan. That's it. The difference is you're under some impression that everyone experiences what you experience and it must therefore be fact. You're miserable. I'm not. Is your situation the result of your environment or your inability to socialize? Only you can answer that.

And let's say that you're description is actually more common? On an individual level it would still be irrelevant. Good luck!

  • @Ohflautistpleaze Man if you got rejected in your life, that's not a constructive way to deal with it. I assume you've been rejected all your life since you speak like someone who has been. If I'm wrong and you haven't been rejected all your life, then the way you comment on youtube betrays you. It makes you seem as someone who's been rejected by the Japanese and hates and acts jealous towards people who have succeeded, like the host.

  • @WorldOfSnakes seems so

  • AJATT indeed brother....AJATT indeed.

    Black black, shizzle、Out!

  • @Grophrane1337 Black black??? because katz is black lol i kid i kid

  • AJATT

  • Why are there so many Australian or New Zealander in Japan?

  • @TPreyland

    english teacher

  • @TPreyland the same reason why there are so many mexicans in america (thats where I am fom) because its close and looks nice

  • This is my FAVORITE video EVER!

  • good vid helped alot to thanx man

  • Victor / Nichibei - you guys are awesome and hit this topic dead on. I came over in 1992 and you guys are right..ANY schmuck with a paper can get a job and get laid..at least thats how it was. There is totally a stigma attached to being an eikaiwa sensei, you are right. Makes it hard to learn.

  • Go to your local bar a lot, that's where I picked up most of my Japanese and Osaka-ben.

  • you forgot akitatom. One of my favorite jtubers

  • hmmmm im flying over now.. are these women hot?

  • It's nice to see some Japanese straight talk going on. People need more of it!

  • Dating a man hahahaha nice video. I was trying to find some way to go to Japan to study and work a few hours a day too because just go there and spend all that money studying,it's hard... but then I gave up hahaha didn't find anything. My cousin lives there since 1991 I guess. Maybe someday I can find a way to go, for now just marriage :)

  • why I guys came to japan?

For the girls right? Be honest.

  • Is this who I think it is?

  • hehe maybe..

  • Thanks Victor and Charlie. That was an interesting video for someone like me who would love to have a go at being a stinkin' gaijin in Japan.

In fact I've decided, as part of a larger travel starting late 2009/early 2010, that I'm going to spend a few months in Japan, travelling around, learning a little Japanese and, hopefully, training in kenjutsu!

    Thanks again for the info.

  • Well, I am a gaijin living in rural Japan, but I don't think I'm either dirty or stinkin'. I bathe regularly, even tho my Japanese bathtub is way too small.

My channel is currently awash in Sumo vids, but I'm about to start a series of vlogs about applying for the JET Programme (of which I am currently a member).

I enjoy your stuff - good vid with NichiBeiTrader!

  • Yeah, I'm pretty dirty and stinking, oh and I live in Japan, you'd better add me to the list. :)

  • Done!

  • Thanks Victor, much appreciated.

  • You? A camera whore? lol.

    Enjoyed the vid. Thanks

  • I'm a camera-whore too, Vic. It was very nice of you to hold back for your friend's sake.

    XD

I just subscribed to most of the people you mentioned in the description.

  • Hi Victor and Charlie...

  • こんにちは, Kenさん.

  • oh and btw coming here as an exchange student might be helpful. I tried to take the 12 hour japanese foundation course, but the outreach program kinda cocked blocked the echange students from taking it. Even though my friends took it previvously. Soo I am stuck in foundation I. Which isn't bad, but its too basic. Sooooooo most of it will be done on my own, by joining circles with nothing but japanese students. It might be safer coming here as a student. Gives you some time to learn the language.

  • I gotta make my way to Nagoya man. Beppu is zzzZZZzzzzZZZZzzzzZZZZzzzzZZZZzzzZZZZzzzzZZZZzzzzZZZ

  • Oh wow, I didn't know you owned the school you work at. :)

  • Very informative. Thanks

  • Wow, that was a pretty good video, I learned a lot.

  • Thanks for including me in your list in the info box. Gotta get up to Nagoya and have a beer (or three) with you sometime!

  • Since when do you stop at three?!!

  • You know me well sir!

  • I KILL YOU!!!!!!!

lol, I know, I should really practice speaking more and put it on the youtubez0r0z! At least I can understand what people say ;)

Vic and Charlie, you guys are great, happy I have gotten the chance to hang out with both of you and you already know this but,

    STAY BLACK ;)

    -tkyosam

  • Don't worry Sam... I still worship you!

    ;-p

  • LOL! Thanks, Sam! Glad to know you have a sense of humor.

  • hey man a friend of mines from New Orleans said he met you at a hostel in Tokyo. I only knew who he was talking about when he told me you said stay black. YOu gave him some website to learn japanese that's cool man.

  • Oh yeah, Andy-something right? I lost his business card, tell him to youtube mail me his info again ;)

  • Sam, it was great hangin' out and eating that pork もつ焼き. (I'm still fighting that cold, however...)

  • This was a really interesting and informative video!! Thanks for sharing :D

  • Really worth watching, very interesting video.

  • I've been taking Japanese in high school for about 3 years now, I'm on my fourth and I'm hoping to major in Japanese when I'm in college. So hopefully I'll be fluent enough to interact in Japanese society and teach English or possibly do EMS.

  • Ganbatte! But I would not recommend teaching English unless you honestly enjoy it as I do. Most of my compadres do no actually like it.

  • I actually like the fact that its a long video. What you guys both mentioned. It kinda sucks when I believe only one College in Ohio has Japanese language courses. Of course I can't afford them. So im stuck teaching myself. Anyways, what other jobs besides teaching english does a gaijin have a good chance at getting? Oh and hey what about the girls going to Japan for the guys huh? LOL

  • Weapons, women, and drugs.

  • I actually watched to the end. No complaints at all! Very watchable. Though if you wanted to give the complainers something to complain about, you could have promised a guest appearance by Sora Aoi "any minute now..."

  • Whaddya mean IN her new swimsuit? :-D

  • Oh cr*p!

I've been home for about an hour now. I just looked at my phone and I see there was a call from a public phone about, what, ten minutes after I got home. I get so used to leaving it on vibe during the day.

I'm guessing that was Charlie. Sorry man!

  • Great vid Victor, I plan to come to Japan as an English teacher too =P Grateful for the advice and such. Keep up the ever Good Work.

    ありがとうございます。ビデオが面白いですよ。

My Japanese needs a lot of work lol

  • Thanks for the mention on the sidebar!!!

I hung out with Charlie just a few hours after you did :) I'll post some footage in a day or two! Oh yeah Victor...I got off my but and finally start language lessons next Wednesday !!

    Again...nice vid

  • Great vid guys. It's always helpful to hear how other speakers learnt. It helps me a lot as a wannabe. Cheers.

  • Okay. Made it to 1:47

  • I guess I will have to watch this video in parts...I am learning Italian in Italy! Best way to go :D Just like studying Japanese in Japan would most likely be BEST!

  • gaijin is a discrimination term.gaikokujin is right.外人は差別用語です。外国人が正解です。英語間違ってたらごめんなさい。

  • 僕は別に外人と呼ばれてもいいです。 I have no problem with people calling me gaijin. It is not a bad word. Gaikokujin is more polite, but it's really no big deal.

  • Ugh. you racist. The proper term is Gaikokukarakitekuretajin.

  • LOL!!!

  • The video is too long!

    :P

  • they mention this at the end if you watch the whole thing.

  • I hope you know I was making jest of that....

  • I started learning Japanese by learning the Kanji first. James Heissig has a book which offers a method for learning the meaning of the joyo kanji which I highly recommend. (Oh and thanks for the shout-out. But Jeepers why does Ken Tanaka go unmentioned?

  • He is in the sidebar and actually we made another video in Japanese where I think we mention him... or maybe Charlie and I just talked about him a lot! I was gonna add you but then YT shut down all day!

  • Heisig followers are like Mac people - imbued with cult-like devotion. I have sold my soul to both of these.

  • I used an Apple 2E for a while in college but I never got the whole MAC thing. I'm not quite cult-like when it comes to Heisig - but his method was helpful to me.

  • I don't mind if people come to Japan to pick up a little Japanese as long as it isn't my wife.

  • LOL!!!! oh man i should use that one.

  • Dudes! Victor and Nichibei Trader, loved the vid! I completely agree with your advice, and in particular feel like I went through a lot of very similar experiences as Nichibei did (thanks for the comments too man, I've been enjoying your vids too). Thanks also for the plug at the end. I know that you mean "I hate you" as a compliment, so, as the Japan YouTube DAI-senpai, Victor, I totally hate you right back! ;)

    Cheers guys

    Peace

  • PS: I'm a proud NEW ZEALANDER, but am used to being confused with Australians. There's a good educational video on the challenges Kiwis face with that confusion here:

    watch?v=Re0nu9UtEY8

  • Yeah, sorry about that ya Kiwi! Thanks for watching! And yes, of course, the best kind of compliment I can give you is HATE/ENVY for your kick-ass 日本語!むかつく!

  • Hey, i'm suscribed to Charlie lol

    Great Interview (Y)

  • Good interview Victor!

    Nichibei! Enjoyed hearing your story.

  • Thanks Eric. Next time I get over there, I'll get in touch and head down to Kanagawa for some beach side R&R.

  • Wow, lucky, how much for a Japanese mail order bride? lol
