  • WARNING! Incomplete. Music is chopped off at end.

  • When you say 'violin solo', you really mean viola, right? ;-) It's clear that the piece's range is way lower than a violin could possibly reach without retuning. (I hear many low Cs, C#s, etc.)

Highly interesting piece, though. Thank you for creating the opportunity for me to be exposed to this unique music :-)

  • it makes me smile. really different, really amazing

  • great piece. any insight into it, explanation of the score or anything? i've read that radulescu's scores leave a lot up for interpretation.

  • 1. "Das Andere" could be translated as Alter Ego. Here's something I found: •With Radulescu we discover the physical division of the strings into their partials. In Das Andere, Radulescu uses these natural harmonics, up to the 20th harmonic; the piece begins with them.

  • 2. "But he also uses other special techniques designed to confuse the strings by giving them contradictory signals with the bow or the left hand in very quick succession or even simultaneously at times, and this results in a breaking down of the sound into unpredictable subparticles, rather like a nuclear particle accelerator!" (Garth Knox)
