I know what you mean, this was recorded pretty soon after he joined though, so hopefully he will have settled in a bit more by now. he was probably just trying to get it right then. more recent videos seem better.

I went over the character limit, haha, but, I've seen dep a bunch of times, with pennie and gil, and even though their styles are very different, they both added something, whether sheer chops of musicality. The new drummer plays like a programmable human drum machine.

His feel is whack too, super on top of the beat.

But either way, i wish the best for dillinger, and i hope i'm proved wrong here.

This may sound like the typical youtube comment, but hear me out on this. Chris Pennie had insane technical ability and perfect timing. Gil Sharone had amazing feel, dynamics, pocket, and presence in the group. however, this new drummer doesn't offer much for me. he plays the parts perfectly no doubt, but he doesn't have a great feel with the music, and he seems really mechanical.

The first one is Panasonic Youth, the second i believe is 43% burnt, third song is Milk Lizard. and for the record the new drummer is the shit, i have a few friends up at college that are good friends with him, and they all have told me on countless occasions that this kid was fucking great even when he was back in high school.

i would really really like to see full songs from this session posted online. it's not often that we get to see live footage of DEP that actually sounds good, plus without vocals you can actually hear some of the details that the instrumentalists are playing. ALSO, we get a really good exposed look at how their new drummer sounds (which apparently, is awesome).

Bottom line: full songs from this session online would be a real treat for hardcore DEP fans.
