  • Damn we never watched movies in school couldn't afford them

  • We were watching this in my Health Science Tech 2 class, I don't see how she let us watch it with all the cussing it had in it! I'm glad she did though!

  • Wolfgang Petersen <3 Dankschön.

  • I met a missionary once, who was very proud that his church had convinced a tribal group on some island, that God would protect them from some scary demons that lived in the local forest.

Apparently it never occured to these idiots that deadly viruses might be considered demons to the uneducated locals.

Would serve them right if they succumbed to a demon/virus for being so stupid.

  • we had just watch this at school

  • Good movie. I didnt mind watching it several times :] I'm watching it in biology right now

  • Scary.... especially on halloween night

  • I love Dustin Hoffman.

  • scary because this shit could actually happen.

  • @NewWaveFan1 dude im watching tis in my class room

  • So it seems the dogs are there kids

  • @ozzygodisgod Well, a dog is basically a kid that never learns to talk or drive your pristine '58 Plymouth Fury into an oak tree.

  • @nosorab3 thats really says it all lmao

  • is hiv really only biosafety lvel 3?

  • @jrro0t If only because it's relatively hard to transmit.

  • @jrro0t level 2 to be exact ;) read the Hotzone it's the basis of this movie very bloody

  • Dustin Hoffman is great as usual! love the scene with him washing the dogs, the same happened when my aunt tried to give bath to her dog... for the rest of the movie of course, its heavy but there is some connection to reality just with other names. If u see the documentary, In LIes we trust, u will know what i am talking about.

    Thanks a ton for uploading.

  • bio hazard 4 ENTER AT UR OWN RISK /:o

  • Have you guys seen Twelve monkeys thats another virus movie

  • @Zim804 thats a good movie bruce willis

  • @Zim804 I have, that was some fucked up movie shit lol

  • To the reston ebola virus or REBOV outbreak reference as to this movie's inspiration...it can't be. That is the only one out of a total of four "filoviruses" characterized thus far that is nonpathogenic to humans, therefore cannot make humans sick at all, but can cause lethal disease in nonhumans (primates) FYI...I would say the inspiration was captain trip's disease as written about and made into a movie ('94) called "The Stand" by Stephen King. Only difference is the gestation/death period.

  • let the dog keep the pictures

  • another one bites the dust!!!!

  • Rene is hot

  • im watching this to get extra-credit for my science teacher XD

  • in rea life mno viruse could kill you this fast but they could not mak a cure this fast ither

  • Anyone here know which outbreak this was inspired by?

  • Problably reston ebolavirus outbreak in 1989

  • Also, the 1995 Kikwit epidemic might have partially inspired this, but the Reston incident was definitely the inspiration for the virus going airborne (sorry for spoilers, everyone.)

  • @manjacaprini 1976 YOU MEAN

  • this is such a great film

  • I'm watching this at school in science

  • me too but im watching it in my global issues class

  • @EmiilyNAnnaliie What grade might I ask?

  • @EmiilyNAnnaliie we did too last year

  • @EmiilyNAnnaliie Funny thing. me too

  • @EmiilyNAnnaliie LOL me too

  • @EmiilyNAnnaliie I want to go to your school ;)

  • @EmiilyNAnnaliie I remember watching this in my health class back when I was in the 9th grade too.

  • I'm watching this at skwl in science

  • bullshit this moovie fucks c people's minds

this would never happen geee hi opie...hi barney...hi ross perot

    medically

    n e v e r

  • ahem, what?

  • i dont understand what you a saying mate. hehe but it could happen, (hantaVirus, Lassa Fever) are just some of thoes who could fuck it up for us in the world xD

  • I wish there was a virus that turned people into ZEDS!!!

  • 2:14 - Does ANYONE know what kind of dogs those are? They're definitely not St. Bernard, atleast not purebred.

  • lol its a dog

  • wow. a lotta people know a lotta things about viruses here huh? what about his dogs? arent they cute?

  • @joeybyk LMAO

  • @joeybyk Because they are educated mate.

  • Interesting how HIV is considered level 3, while level 4 is defined as "no known cures or vaccines"

  • Me thinks HIV is not a lvl 4 because it's not as easy to get and doesn't kill as fast as the lvl 4.

  • @Gneisenau It isn't in the film it was a level 3 virus not a 4.

  • I think it's because HIV is less virulent.

  • its because its very preventable

  • @sybaris720 Yeah that was an omssion by the makes of this film, seeing that there is no cure or will ever be a vaccine for HIV given its rapid mutational ability that has amazed scentists over the years.

  • in britain over 100,000 ppl are infected yet only 20 have died most of the others have made a full recovery and those who died were kids and people with other medical conditions it would be really hard for the swine flu virus to get past a adult immune system swine flu is just a bad cold sooner people shut up an forget bout it the better

  • i realy hate how everyone is worried about the swine flu epidemic its not as deadly as they make out its just another strain of flu an yeah swine flu has killed couple hundred worldwide but ordinary flu kills thousands dont worry about it your not worried about ordinary flu and that is actually worse then swine flu

  • wrong, h1n1 has killed 5,000 worldwide and sickened millions. its kiled 2,000 in the sates alone. its killed 12 in my county. And swine flu is much more intense than the seasonal flu, yes, all cses in the states have been minor, but i had it, i know what it feels like. The minor swine flu feels 5 times worse than the seasonal. and the swine flu has a much higher mortality rate than seasonal.

  • a year has gone an swine flu has been forgotten just like bird flu al these flus there all the same unless your old or really young or health problem you should be fine nothing to worry about

  • well all i know about the swine flu is that there is a vaccination because rupert grint had it and he recoverd and it is also a mixture of human bird and pig dieses combined and i try not to think about it because u dont know if u have it and u dont know if someone u know has it so i stay inside all day and play video games passes the time

  • I believe there is hope against swine flu, I bet just like the 1918 flu epidemic it will be weakend by the coldness of winter causing less cases and deaths, and isn't there a vaccine? just take the measurements told to avoid and you will be safe

  • it's okay but i can't really understand what is going on

  • "You look very guilty." lol

  • ditto.

  • Swine flu is so overblown i would know i had it, basically the "flu" only you cough alot more and only a very small percent of people end up in a hospital because of it and even less die of it, the common flu is much more deadly and wide spread

  • Ebola can't wipe out humanity because it's too much virulent. People will die before contaminating a lot of people.

  • but if the people die. can the virus still infect other people? or does it die along with host

  • except ifs a small african village lost in the jungle wich is for all the known case

  • how many days does it take for ebola to kill a human?

  • Between 5 to 14 days, it varies from patient to patient.

On average, death comes about a week after the very first symptoms.

  • Just because a virus reaches pandemic level 6 does not mean that the entire human race will be wiped out. Look at Swine Flu for example. Ebola is spread less readily than influenza and if anything health experts have said that it will be a new strain of Influenza rather than a disease such as Ebola that will do the most damage on a pandemic scale, the Spanish flu of 1911 is proof enough of that.

  • There is no such thing as "pandemic level 6". The World Health Organization rates the spread of an outbreak from phase one (the virus first appears) to phase six (pandemic).

  • health experts never said that ever.

ebola wont wipe out the human race by the ice age that cant be determind.

besides ebola is spread by sex an body fluids not sneezing so it isnt easily contracted

  • the virus are the one that attaches to the host then it goes to pandemic and worse like this disease if not treated when it goes to pandemic lvl 6 = human race wiped out experts says that ebola virus probably wipe out the human race in the near end of ice age....

  • hey at 1:52 that guy looks like charlie from two and a half men XD

  • haha at least we only have a flu pandemic and not a virus like this going around

  • Just wait.

  • the flu is a virus

  • He meant that we don't have a virus as bad as Ebola or the one in this movie, smart one.

  • That's Cuba Gooding Junior JMR

  • um..in other words, its EXACTLY as bad as it sounds.

  • Yeah, that's exactly why it is so dangerous. The first week or so it seems like the flu or another common virus. Then you start hemmorhaging...

  • Hemorrhage is not necessarily present in all hemorhagic fever patients, or at least not profound bleeding. Ebola also causes things such as kidney failure and liver failure, each of which may cause death.

Not all Ebola victims die in a puddle of blood, with reddish black slime oozing out of their mouths. The degree of hemorrhage, if any, varies from patient to patient.

  • @redeyedol Interesting but unfortunately the boys in Hollywood like the extreme nature of this disease and not its real variants. Exaggerate the bleeding victims too everyone infected with Ebola virus, you get more who will want to see the film and thus there make more money at the box office.

  • Why does that guy at 5:52 look so familiar? Anyone know who it is? I thought "bubba" from Forrest Gump, at first. But...that's not him, is it? lol

  • Comment removed

  • i believe that was in the movie 21 that math professor

  • If you ever watched Pearl Harbor, he was the cook in the ship

  • No it's boring till I saw morgan freeman then I cried at his beauty :)

  • lol it's boring until 4:42

  • whatd you think hollywood didnt have that much expense back then now compare this to the dark knight

  • i don't understand what ure saying here i am just pointing out that it does get boring here it happens in all films!

i don't mean to be rude though...

  • niether do i

  • Gawd Renee Ruso is one ugly woman! Her chin is going to take over the world! Yuck!

  • Rene Russo is hot in the movie The Thomas Crown Affair! Check her out =P

  • @3IM Amen to that lol

  • Great movie, but worst movie choice for watching right now. Scary

  • you got that right!

  • The scary bit is the fact that this movies already 14 years old!!!!

  • it was based off of the Ebola virus which can come back at anytime! It is considered the most deadly virus on Earth! Doctors say the=at if it turned into a pandemic, then the human race could virtually be wiped out! Thats scary. This is a nasty virus that has a 5% survival rate. The Swine Flu is nothing compared to this virus. Bad thing is that within the 34 years of this virus being around, no one knows that much about it.

  • there are people that are immune to ebola. so it can't wipe out all people. epic fail i would say.

  • Some people are immune to HIV too. But the virus will wipe out most of the people on this earth, if nothing is done to it. Well I mean it will wipe out many people if it was infectious by air, my fault.

  • @Tronchitina :FUCK YOU!!!

  • @Tronchitina and it all really happened too thats the worst part

  • swine flu

  • Hoffman is so cute here

  • Oscar overload in this segment..

  • ZOMBIES!!!!

  • mustwinder is right. Could be either. IF they were MDs they were either epidemiologists or pathologists. My brother actually has a PhD in virology. Could be that too I suppose

  • how do you manage to be a virologist?

  • Im not too sure. Really the science is over my head. He has a masters in microbiology and another one in bio chemistry

  • Random question, are these guys MD's or PhDs (or both)?

  • They are definitely MD's and state they are medical doctors in the movie. I don't know if they have both as in they completed a MD/Phd program.

  • I see....thanks everyone!

I had to ask, I've known some PhD's who NEEDED to be addressed as "Dr." at all times, just trying to differentiate! :)

  • Yay for pretentiousness. =P Many researchers I work with hold standard degrees, others are Ph.D.s and some have different kinds of qualifications from that. Experience counts as much as funny letters after the name.
